I was silent the whole ride to Mrs. Horans (aka mom) house. She seems so nice, loving, and perfect. There is no way that she would ever have a daughter like me. I was afraid to speak, because then she would realize that she had the wrong girl and send me back to my father.
" Yes, Mrs. Horan"
"Please sweetie, call me mom. And I know that your probably really confused right now, but once your father and I explain it to you, it will all make sense. I'm sorry this had to happen."
Just then we pulled up to the house. Well actually, it was more like a mansion. Yep..she definitely had the wrong girl. As soon as i walked inside i was greeted my a man that looked oddly familiar. He pulled me into a huge hug, and surprisingly i didn't even get scared.
"Talia, I've missed you so much. I'd never thought I'd see my little girl again." he said with tears running down his cheeks.
"Um... are you sure that you have the right girl, because you guys seem way too normal to be my parents."
"Come, we will explain everything" he said while leading me to the couch.
"One afternoon, you couldn't have been older than 3, I took you and your brother, Niall, to the playground while your father was at work. We went there almost everyday, you always loved playing with your brother. You and Niall were just playing with the other kids while I was chatting with the other moms. I heard a scream, but I wasn't really worried because I thought it was just part of your game. But then that scream was followed by more. I turned around and saw a man carrying you and running. I just wasn't fast enough. I should have been watching. I'm so sorry" said mom. She was crying so hard now.
"After that day, we never stopped looking for you. We were all over the news, telling people about your disappearance. We put posters everywhere. The police sent numerous search teams, but they came back with nothing. After a couple of months, the police stopped searching for you. They told us that you were most likely dead. It was almost like they had given up. Soon, your picture stopped showing up on t.v. and I feel like people started to forget about you. But we didn't. Talia, we never stopped looking for you. We never forgot you."
This seemed so unreal. My whole life was a lie. Because of my 'parents' Laura and Mike, all that time I spent being tortured, I could have been with my real family. Now, I can never get those 13 years back. I Suddenly I started to become terrified. The nurses back at the hospital had told me that they won't be bothering me anymore, but how did they know. I mean, mom said that Mike had been sent to jail, but what about Laura. Was she looking for me? Would she try to take me away from my family before I finally got to meet them?
