I woke up the next day in my own bed. My eyes were red and puffy because I cried myself to sleep. Big surprise.
I checked my phone and found sixteen new messages from Niall and threw the stupid device on the floor, ignoring every single one of them. I slowly got out of bed and walked into the bathroom, turning on the shower as warm as it could go and began to undressed myself.
I leaned over the sink and stared at my bare self in the mirror. Was what Harry said true? Then I remembered all the times I spent hunched over the toilet, trying to make myself skinnier. The toilet was just calling my name right now. ”Come on, Claire! Get skinny again!”
But I jumped in shower, letting my tears get lost in the warm water.
“Your heart’s against my chest, lips pressed to my neck. I’m falling for your eyes, but they don’t know me yet. This feeling I won’t forget, I’m in love now.” I began to sing. I sang my heart out, so loud and so proud, not a care in the world, until I heard the house phone ringing.
I jumped out the shower and wrapped a towel around myself.
“Hello?” I answered.
“Oh my gosh Claire! Thank goodness you answered!” Niall beamed.
“No, Claire. I’m sorry about yesterday; let me make it up to you. Please?” he cut me off.
I opened my mouth to say something, but I stopped myself.
“Please?” he begged.
I let out a sigh. “Fine. What are you going to do?” I said, not happy with my decision.
“Yay! Meet me at the amusement park right before the intersection,” he informed.
“WHAT?! No! Ni-“
“Okay bye!” he hung up before I could finish my sentence.
I absolutely hate amusement parks. I am deathly afraid of roller coasters and Niall knows that. Well, at least I thought he knew that. But I got dressed anyway.
“ClaireBear!” Niall picked me up in his warm embrace and spun me around. “I’m so glad you came,” he said with a genuine expression. He held on to my arms and just…stared at me.
“Niall? Are you okay?” I asked, pulling away from his grasp.
“What? Oh…yeah. Sorry, um…well let’s go,” he said nervously.
We were just about to enter the park when I felt a hand slap my bum. I turned around ready to punch whoever that was across their face, but Harry’s hand caught my arm in mid position.
“Whoah there! Getting feisty, eh?” he said. He let go of my arm and leaned in real close to my face, so I could feel his warm breath. “Lay off the McDonald’s.”
I was just about to do only God knows what, when Lilly popped up behind Harry.
“Babe!” she screamed as she ran into Niall’s arms, making out with him a little too passionately.
“Please, get me a barf bag,” I mumbled as I rolled my eyes.
Harry chuckled a little. I gave him a sarcastic smile and walked through the entrance gates.
It was my worst nightmare. All I saw was tons of people screaming and sweating and throwing up. The rides were as tall as the sky, maybe even taller. It was disgusting.
“I-I-I can’t do this!” I said as I turned around to leave. But Niall caught me and led me towards the tallest ride ever.
“NO NIALL! YOU KNOW I GET SCARED!” I screamed and squirmed, trying to escape his arms.
“Yeah, Babe, I don’t know if I can ride this,” Lilly said.
Oh, thank goodness. For once I actually like this girl. She saved m-
“Okay, Lil. Guys, me and Lilly are gonna go get some food. Tell me how the ride goes!” and they ran away before Harry and I could say another word.
“I’m not going on this ride, you know,” I said.
“Yeah, okay,” Harry pushed me along with a disgusted look on his face.
When I got on the ride the nerves really started to hit me. I started breathing heavily and I felt like I was going to throw up all over Harry. Well, maybe something good will happen.
“I’m really scared. I…don’t…I…feel terrible,” I said just as the ride started.
I don’t know what came over me but I grasped Harry’s hand. I squeezed it so hard as I started screaming like crazy. Nothing happened yet though. We were just slowly moving in a straight line, with everyone staring at me, screeching and crying my head off.
“Shut up! We didn’t do anything yet!” Harry snapped. I could tell that he was embarrassed, I was a little embarrassed myself. Then we started to go up…and up…and up. And as we reached the very top, Harry put a hand over my mouth and squeezed my hand tighter.
Then, we went down. So fast that I could feel the adrenaline rush through my veins and the wind blowing in my hair made me feel so free. I loved it. I didn’t know why I was so scared before, but now I was cracking up laughing as we went upside down and over and under. I laughed and laughed till I cried. I looked at Harry, who was now laughing along with me. And then, as fast as it started, we came to a stop. I let go of his hand and got out very abruptly.
“I want to go home. Now.” I ordered.
“What? But that was so much fun! Let’s do it again!” he exclaimed.
“No! I don’t like you. I’m not doing that again,” I said.
At first he looked a little hurt, and then he clenched his fists and became angry.
“Whatever. Just know that you’re weak and childish,” he walked away.
I looked at him for a second, and then I walked back to my car and left.
