"I'm sorry, Niall," I apologized again. "I'm just not feeling well," I croaked. I had to call Niall and tell him about the change of plans, since I didn't think I'd be able to do anything other than lay in bed.
"It's fine, darlin'. Do you still want me to come over?"he asked, still as cheerful as when he answered the phone, despite finding out we wouldn't be able to spend the night together.
"I'd love that but I don't want you falling sick and then be unable to perform which would break the hearts of millions of girls."
He laughed heartily.
"You're so thoughtful," he complimented. "How are you feeling?"
I scoffed. "Like I'm dying a slow, horrible death." I let out a sigh. "I'm just fooling around. But I do feel like shit. I don't know what I have," I muttered into the phone, perplexed as to what had caused this. Was it the flu or stress? It was a mystery. "I feel dizzy and my throat is dry and I'm really cold and..."I took a deep breath, rolling on the bed till I was flat on my back. "But I feel much better after hearing your voice," I told him truthfully. "Anyway, what are YOU up to?"
I could sense that he was grinning at my sudden outburst. "Yeah I miss you too," he chuckled. "I'm heading to Nando's," he replied.
"Alright. Well tell the others I said goodnight, would you?"
"Yeah sure." It sounded as if he was walking on the pavement.
"I won't keep you from your well-deserved meal any longer. Enjoy your food, Niall," I said.
It took a while for him to process what I was saying. Must be because of the food that he was ogling at Nando's. I chuckled. "Goodnight, Niall. Love you!"
At this, he paid attention and replied quickly. "Love you too, princess," he murmured into the phone, making my heart melt. "Feel better."
"Well, thank you, my prince. See you later."
"Yeah. See you soon."
With that, I hung up and placed my phone on the bedside table, pulled up the covers under my chin and closed my eyes, feeling lethargic. I knew Eleanor was watching some telly in the living room-she'd decided to stay the night and I didn't mind. Just as I felt myself drift to sleep, I heard the door creak open. I didn't bother checking who it was.
"Jamie, you awake?" Eleanor asked.
"Mmhmm," I answered drowsily.
"I was wondering if I could take one of those guitars off the wall just so I could-"
"But I just want to-"
"If you touch them, Niall will murder you."
She huffed, sounding offended.
"Sorry," I mumbled apologetically, my eyes still closed. But Niall treasured each and every one of his guitars and I didn't want to risk damaging any one of them.
"Yeah yeah," she dismissed, before I heard the door click closed.
However, not a few minutes later, I heard the door creak open again.
"I said no!" I groaned in frustration, annoyed.
"Well if you REALLY want me to leave, I will," I heard an Irish voice say. Immediately, I lifted my head to see if it really was...
"Niall?" I whispered, confused. "I thought you said-"
"I lied. I missed you too much," he explained, walking over towards me after closing the door. And again, my heart melted. He slipped his shirt off, smirking as he studied my face while I tried not to stare. "I want to spend time with you. And look, we're in bed together!"he noted cheekily, pulling the covers back, taking in my night clothes. I looked away guiltily-I was wearing one of his shirts which fell just above my knees.
"I missed your smell."
"It's fine, it looks better on you anyway. I like this look," he complimented, admiring my bare legs, making me turn a deep shade of red.
"Besides, what's mine is yours,"he said, getting into bed beside me and pulling the covers back up, pulling me closer and kissing the top of my head. As soon as he got in, I scrunched my nose.
"Niall, I love you very, very much. But I'd be very grateful if you took a shower first. You reek of perspiration," I told him.
"Aww, won't you just give me a kiss first?" he pleaded, pouting, bending down. I relented and pecked his lips very briefly.
"I don't want to get you sick with whatever it is I have," I explained to him as his a sad look crossed his face after I pulled away.
"I don't care! I'd rather kiss you and fall sick then not getting to kiss you as much as I want,"he said stubbornly, leaning in again. This time,I refused and pushed him away gently.
"Jayzus, you're freezing!"he whined, jumping as I pressed my fingertips on his chest.
I pulled up the covers until they were under my chin. "Just go take a shower!"
"Fine,"he groaned."Don't go anywhere."
"Where else would I go, Niall?"
He smirked and kissed my cheek before bolting into the toilet. I must've fallen asleep(even though Niall was singing loudly in the shower. I was surprised Eleanor didn't hear him. I must've been exhausted) because the next time I opened my eyes, Niall was lying on the bed beside me, shirtless, with his hair damp and poking out in all directions and he was staring at me wide-eyed and poking my nose and cheek with my finger.
"Why are your cheeks so red?" he questioned with inquisitive eyes.
"Why are YOUR cheeks red?" I asked in a similar tone.
"I'm Irish. We have splotchy cheeks." He replied, beckoning for me tell him my reason.
I bit my lip, remembering the dream I had during the short time I'd slept while Niall was in the shower. "I had a very strange dream," I replied, embarrassed.
"Oh, really?"he chided, one eyebrow raised.
"I dreamt I was purchasing something at a pharmacy and when I paid the cashier, he handed me a silver packet. He said that they were giving out free condoms," I described, puzzled.
Niall chortled. "Are you trying to tell me how much you want me?" he asked cheekily. "Because I'd be more than happy to satisfy your... needs."
I could feel my cheeks burning. I covered my face with my hands.
"Don't hide your beautiful face," he murmured, moving my hands away and placing them on his chest. He shifted slightly at the coldness but he didn't pull away. Instead, he wrapped his arms around me tighter.
I buried my face into the base of his neck, and tangled my legs with his.
"You're going to fall sick," I warned. I didn't have a fever but I was having a bit of cough.
"Don't worry about it. Do you reckon management will be ragin' over me sneaking off?"
"Probably. How'd you get here without them knowing anyway?"
"I took a cab. And I'm silent like a ninja," he joked.
"Ninja Niall," I mumbled. He chuckled, his chest rumbling.
"How was the the concert?"
"Amazing. The crowd was great,"he gushed. "Had fun."
"That's good," I said sleeping. I think he must've sensed that I was drifting off because he'd gone silent and started humming.
"Now go to sleep,"he told me,rubbing soothing circles on my back, my eyelids getting droopy again. I nodded.
I loved cuddling with Niall-it was on one of my favourite things to do.
"Goodnight, princess. I love you." He kissed the top of my head, playing with strands of my hair with his fingers.
"Love you too, Niall."
With that, I drifted to a deep sleep, to his humming of Little Things, in his warm arms, like I had so many times before.
