We were waiting in my living room for Eleanor and Jamie. We had been for a while. Perrie and Sophie couldn't make it tonight but Zayn and Liam didn't seem to mind that much-I guess we'd all gotten more tolerable of not being able to see our girlfriends because of work.
"Harry, you alright?" I asked, his forehead creased as if he was deep in thought. Maybe he was getting frustrated of waiting. He glanced up at me briefly.
"Yeah,"he replied hesitantly, getting up from his seat, walking over towards me. Something was definitely on his mind. "Mate, do you remember the other night when we went out to the bar?" he questioned, putting an arm around my shoulder.
I put my hands in the front pockets of my jeans. "Yeah. Why?"
"Do you remember what happened that night?" he inquired, speaking in muffled whispers. We were far enough from the others such that they couldn't hear us.
"Well, I remember having a few shots and getting drunk...everything after that is a blur...until I woke up the next morning with a horrible headache," I recalled. "Did something happen that I'm supposed to remember?" I asked, lost.
He opened his mouth to reply but then his eyes flitted to Jamie's door. "It's alright, mate,"he dismissed, taking his hand off from around my shoulder and putting both hands behind his back, standing beside me as Jamie and El walked out.
The other boys came to join us.
"Wow," Liam blurted around, impressed. To be honest, we all were as we looked at the both of them.
Jamie looked absolutely breathtaking. She was wearing a cream-coloured dress that covered her neck and arms with a lace-like material and had ruffles all the way down to her knee. Her beautiful wavy hair was tied into a side fishtail braid(I think that's what Jamie told me it was when I asked her the other day), her make-up was light and natural-her cheeks were naturally rosy so the only thing I could see her wearing was a faint silver eyeshadow, black eyeliner and a warm shade of pink lipstick on her lips. The best thing was that she was wearing a pair of black Converse with the dress, adding her own spin to her outfit.
"Is it too much?" she asked self-consciously, clutching a rectangular black bag. "Eleanor helped me with all this. She even lent me this bag,"she told us, gesturing to the bag she was holding."And I can't wear heels so..."she explained, shrugging at the end.
Eleanor was as beautiful as always but I couldn't tear my gaze away from Jamie.
Louis and I walked up to our girlfriends. He whispered something in Eleanor's ear that made her giggle before he escorted her outside where the limousine was waiting, and the other lads followed, leaving me alone with Jamie.
"Words can't express how amazing you look," I murmured, pulling her waist towards me. "You look beautiful, princess," I whispered against her lips.
She smiled and stared at my lips. "Thank you. You look dashing," she complimented.
Unable to resist any longer, I pressed my lips to hers. I'd missed her so much. I'd missed THIS so much.
She pulled away too soon. "We should go..or the boys will get suspicious,"she said shyly, pulling my hand off her waist and intertwining her fingers.
"We don't have to go,"I suggested cheekily. "We could tell them that we're not feeling well. Then, we'd have the flat all to ourselves...and we'd be alone for at least a few hours and we could do whatever we wanted..." I whispered into her ear, nibbling on it.
"As tempting as that sounds, I don't want you to miss your party,"she replied, breathlessly, gently pushing me away, but not before planting a quick kiss on me.
"Fine, "I grumbled.
"We'll have time to have some fun later,"she mumbled softly, winking.
My eyes lit up."Sounds like a plan." I tried to distract myself from imagining what Jamie looked like without that stunning dress. She reached up to ruffle my hair, laughing-music to my ears.
"Oh Niall. Are you always in the 'mood'?" she sighed, pinching my bum.
"I can't help it!" I whined."Especially when I have a mut like you."
At that, her cheeks turned scarlet and she bit down on her lower lip, which I found very attractive.
"We should really go now,"she insisted. I grinned at her shyness when I complimented her, indirectly telling her that I found her very sexy. And jayzus, that bum. I tried not to stare but that dress was making it hard.
"I love you,"I told her, putting my hand around her waist again to support her as she walked.
"I love you too,"she replied, her eyes shining.
There were whistles from the boys as Niall assisted me getting into the car, the leg brace making it difficult to do by myself.
"You look amazing,Jamie," Harry complimented.
I smiled gratefully at him."Thanks Harry. You boys look very handsome tonight. I owe this,"referring to how well-dressed I was," all to Eleanor, my personal beauty assistant," I joked, as she rolled her eyes. "Thanks El."
She nodded in acknowledgement, revealing her pearly whites. She looked beautiful and Louis seemed to have difficulty taking her eyes off her.
The car ride wasn't too long but it was noisy because everyone was talking at once, excitedly. I was trying to hide my anxiety about the party-being around lots of people, particularly-but having Niall's arm around me the whole time was comforting. I leaned deeper into him, feeling the tension in my muscles dissolve.
Eventually, we reached our destination and made our way into the party venue. The stairs were a bit difficult but I managed to climb up, with Harry and Niall's help-they literally carried me up.
Once we got there, it got pretty insane-every one was crowding around us,congratulating the boys and everyone was clapping and cheering. And the fact that there were quite a lot of people made it even more overwhelming. Niall's grip never loosened around my waist(he seemed a tad uncomfortable himself but was controlling himself well) and I noticed Harry was always by my side, checking on me occasionally to see if I was okay, which was very sweet of him. I briefly glanced at him and smiled encouragingly at me, wrapping one of his hands around mine. Sensing my unease, Niall and Harry guided me to a table where I sat, relieved.
Eleanor came over to keep me company while the boys were talking with men in suits and women in pretty dresses, which I greatly appreciated.
"And we were worried about being overdressed," she scoffed as our eyes scanned across the room, seeing almost everyone in formal attire.
"Yeah," I agreed.
We were in a deep conversation about how ridiculously good Niall was at accents(naturally leading to us trying various accents and then laughing at ourselves for how horrible our attempts were, although she told me my Indian and Australian accent wasnt that bad) when the music changed to a slower tempo.I noticed Niall walking over, a cheeky grin on his face. He extended a hand towards me.
"Hiya," he breathed. "Will ya dance with me?"
My eyes widened. "I have a sprained ankle," I told him, trying to avoid his request.
"Just come on,"he egged on, pulling my hand and guiding me towards the dance floor.
"Niall, I can't dance," I admitted, quietly.
"Don't worry, just put your feet on mine so you won't have to move around so much,"he suggested, which was awfully sweet.
"No, I mean I don't know HOW to slow dance," I repeated, embarrassed. I only knew how to dance street style.
His eyes softened. "It's fine. Just follow me."
He wrapped an arm around my waist, holding my hand with the other, lacing his fingers through mine as he guided me to put my feet on his.
I frowned. "My trainers are going to dirty your boots."
"I don't care."
For a while,we just danced together, swaying to the music. It was as if we were the only ones there. It seemed like time stood still.I laid my head on his shoulder as he held me close, eventually closing my eyes and listening to the sound of him breathing.
"I've missed you," I murmured.
"I've missed you too, princess." He kissed the top of my head. "Someone else has been missing you too."
I lifted my head to look at him, confused. He gestured to look behind me, which I did and saw James looking straight at me, his eyes softening.
"Mind if I step in?"
"I invited him," Niall told me, stepping aside for James to take his place, then patting James' shoulder before walking away, leaving me alone with James.
"Hi," he greeted.
"Hello,"I replied. It felt a bit odd after not being in contact with him for about 3 months. "I thought you were on tour with Brad, Tris and Con?"
"Yeah but we got a week of rest so I decided to come back."
We were standing on the dance floor, just talking.
I nodded in understanding.
"You haven't returned any of my calls."
I hesitated. "Yeah. I've uh-been busy," I stuttered.
"For 3 months?" he asked skeptically.
I kept quiet.
"Look,Jamie, I just wanted to apologize for my stupidity the other day. You're completely right, it was inappropriate of me. I'm really, really sorry," he apologized sincerely. "You don't hate me, do you?"
I snorted. "Hate you? I could never," I replied, smiling. "Just don't ever try that again, yeah?"
We hugged each other, both of us grinning after we pulled away. Honestly, I had missed him.
"I won't," he promised. "By the way, you threw a solid punch," he complimented, rubbing his jaw playfully.
"Sorry about that."
He chuckled. "It's fine. And you look lovely tonight, Jamie."
"Thanks. You look amazing as well," I remarked. He looked good in a suit.
"I've been meaning to ask you. Would you like this back?" he asked, taking something out of his pocket and opening his hand to reveal the necklace he'd given me.
After he helped me put it on, he asked me to dance, so we did. We justmoved to the music, although I probably just stood there since I couldn't really move much due to the brace, and talked most of the time. We talked and talked till we got thirsty and fortunately, the song ended.
"I'll go grab us a drink," James offered.
"Thanks," I said gratefully as he walked away, towards the refreshments.
"Jamie, could I talk to you for a while?" Harry asked, startling me as I turned around to walk back to my seat with Eleanor. I noticed Liam, Zayn and Louis had joined her, with Niall nowhere in sight.
"Yeah, sure," I replied, thinking nothing of it.
Oh how wrong I was.
