"Where are we going?" I asked Harry. Struggling to take pictures with my left hand, because he was still holding my right. "Just a few more blocks." Harry said.
"Well how much more walking do we have to do?" I asked looking around at the changing scenery. Harry didn't reply. For a while I thought we were lost. I finally freed myself from Harry's grip. Harry stopped in his place. "We're here." He said smiling. We where standing in front of a brass iron gate. As I stepped closer it was a garden behind it. Harry pushed the gate open. I looked around to see if anyone was watching us. "Are you sure it's okay to be here?" I asked him as I read the DO NOT TRESPASS sign.
"Yes I know the man who owns it." Harry said leading me inside.
"You've been here before?" I asked amused.
"I like to come here sometimes to just write lyrics or to get away." He said.
"This place is beautiful." I said taking pictures of everything. The garden was filled with all types of flowers. There marigolds, iris's, hydrangeas, gardenias, orchids and so many more. The trees where even filled with flowers.
"This was Harley's wife's garden. She was a botanist, she studied flowers. She grew so many unique flowers here. That she opened her garden for the public to see. But when Molly died Harley stopped letting people visit it." Harry said as he sat down by a rose bush.
"And why does he let you come?" I asked as I sat down in front of him. "His wife Molly was a friend of my mum's and I just like coming here." He said as he plucked a rose. " I bet you bring a lot of girls here." I said jokingly as I laid flat on the ground. Harry did the same. "No actually your the only person I have ever brought here." Harry said turning his face towards mine. Our faces where so close to each others. I didn't want things to get awkward between us so I changed the subject.
"So what is the best part about being in a band?" I asked him. "Aside from my friendship with the lads. I would to say the fans are." He said. I rolled over on my back and I began to take pictures of the sky. It was getting dark and it looked like it was going to rain soon. "I like you Marilyn." Harry said. When he said that I almost dropped my camera on my face.
"What?" I asked shocked.
"Umm... what I meant to say is that I like you as a friend." He said clearing his throat.
"A friend?" I asked quietly.
"Yes I want us to be friends." Harry said sitting up and smiling at me. He was so clueless. For a second I really liked him. Any feelings I thought I had for him just evaporated.
"Yeah I want us to be friends too." I lied. Truth is I wanted to get out of their and leave Harry alone for good. But for some reason I stayed. "Great so then do you want to grab a bite to eat?" Harry asked as he adjusted his beanie on his head.
"No." I said as I sat up.
"No?" Harry repeated.
"No." I said again.
"I don't understand you said you wanted to be friends." Harry said.
"I do. Its just we can't hang out anywhere else. People will see us." I said. "So they'll see us." Harry shrugged. I just gave him a look. "Do you remember what happened yesterday?" I asked. "Alright fine." Harry said looking around. "We can hang out here then. It will be like our secret place." He added. I looked around inspecting the garden and it was the perfect place. "Okay." I tried to laugh but it came out sounding like a cough. "What time do you have to get back?" He asked. I pulled out the my class trip's guidelines out of my back pocket and began to read it. "Students who don't have a chaperone present have to be back at the hotel at two in the afternoon." I said folding it back up and putting it back in my pocket.
Harry turned on his phone to check the time. "Its already one. So that gives us one hour." Harry said. "Guess so." I replied. The awkward silence came back. "Want to look around?" Harry asked as he got up. "Sure." I said. We got on this pathway that wrapped around the entire garden. "So since we are going to be friends I have to ask you this one question....how do you get your hair so curly." I laughed. Harry broke out into laughter too. For the rest of the walk our conversations where endless. "It's like I can talk to you about anything." Harry said. I didn't want him to know it but I felt the exact same way.
Our conversations could be meaningless but I liked talking to him anyway. After a while we finally made our way back to the beginning of the garden. "I should probably get you back now." Harry said pulling on the gate. Our walk would only have taken about ten minutes. Which was a bad idea because at any moment it looked like it was about to rain. For it just being the afternoon the sky looked really gray. We made it back to the hotel before it had rained. Harry and I stood outside infront of the hotel.
"Well this was interesting." I said because I couldn't think of anything else to say.
"It was." Harry said. I reached out my hand to shake but he leaned in to hug me. So I tried to lean in and hug him but he put his hand out. It was all too awkward. "How about a wave." I said waving.
"Waving is better." He said waving back. "Well I guess I will see you around." I said as I began to go up the stairs that led into the hotel, but Harry pulled me back. "I wasn't quite honest with you earlier." Harry said. I saw over his shoulder Nathan, Tara, and some more people walking towards us. Nathan's face looked liked he smelled something gross. Tara looked like she was going to faint and the rest just walked inside oblivious to what was going on or they just didn't care.
"What are you talking about?" I asked returning my attention back to Harry.
At that moment it began to rain. Harry's face just watched mine. He looked like he was searching for the right thing to say. They rain kept coming down harder. We where getting drenched in rain. "I don't really want us to just be friends." Harry said trying to talk over the rain. I rapidly tried to keep my eyes open because the water from the rain kept getting in them. I just stood there frozen. Maybe it was from what he said or I was was freezing. I didn't say anything because I was confused.
"I am so sorry. I shouldn't have said that." Harry said as he walked away. Tara and Nathan where still gawking from a distance. I finally could bring myself to talk.
"Harry wait!" I called. I doubt he heard me though. The rain was coming down faster and louder it probably drowned out the sound of my voice. I ignored that Nathan and Tara where calling out for me. I walked inside the hotel. Nathan was coming after me but I got on an elevator before he could catch up with me. When I got to my hotel room I was kinda of glad I didn't see Aria in there because I didn't feel like talking. I got my self dried off and I did not want to join the others for lunch. So I just ordered room service.
When I finished eating I moved over to the window pain and I just watched the rain hit the window. I couldn't help but think about Harry. I didn't understand him at all. But I should shake what I was feeling. I liked him too. So why was it so hard for me to say it back. But this time I would probably never see him again. I sat there in the window for a while. Anytime I feel like I have forgotten something I like to look out of a window like I would find the answers. But I really felt like had forgotten something. When Aria came back into the room I quickly changed my mood because I didn't want her to notice. But the look on her face said she knew something.
"Hey." I said walking towards her.
"Hey! I didn't see you down there. So I had to sit by myself" Aria said as she took stuff out of her shopping bags. I picked a floppy hat with the Union Jack flack flag print on it. on it.
"Why is this hat so ugly?" I laughed as I put the hat on my head.
"It's a souvenir." She said taking a picture of me with that hat on. "So guess who everyone was talking about at lunch today?" Aria yelled out from inside of the hotel's closet.
"Who?" I said taking the hat off my head. Aria pulled her head out of the closet and pointed her finger at me.
"Why?" I asked taking a seat on my bed. "Apparently Tara said you where seen talking to Harry outside of the hotel today." Aria said as she got in her bed. I walked over to the window to close the curtains. "Did something happen Parrish?" Aria asked. When ever she worries about me she always call me by my last name. I just shook my head no.
"Are you about to go to sleep? Its only half past six." I said.
"Well it's dark outside and i'm tired. Plus I got use to being on Paris time zone." She said as she turned her back towards me. I on the other hand couldn't go to sleep. I turned the t.v and there where a lot of channels. But somehow I couldn't couldn't find anything to watch. When a commercial came on about a new Nixon camera. It hit me. I had forgotten my camera.
I started to freak out because I have never parted with it. I quickly got up and grabbed my jacket to leave the room. When I got out into the hallway I looked round to see if anyone was around. As I was headed towards the elevator I couldn't help but think where my camera might be. But there was only one place where I know it could be. When I arrived at Molly's garden it was dark outside. The rain finally had stopped. I reached to push the gate open hopping it wouldn't be locked. I noticed the gate was already open. Someone was in there. That creeped me out because I could barely see anything and the light from my phone didn't help. I wanted to run out of there but I had to get my camera. I walked towards the place Harry and I where sitting earlier. When I came around the corner I saw someone sitting down by the tree. It was Harry.
From the look on his face I didn't even know did he still want be coming here."Hey." I said approaching him.
"Hi." He said approaching me.
"I just came looking for my camera." I said looking at my camera in his hands.
"Oh yeah I was going to give it to Zayn and he would give it to Aria." Harry said as he handed me my camera. It probably got messed up from the rain. Honestly I didn't even care about the camera. All I wanted to do was try and talk to Harry.
"Thanks." That was all I could say. I didn't even think I would see him again after today. So this was my chance.
"Can we talk about what happened earlier?" I said as I walked closer to Harry.
"What is there to talk about? Of how I did something stupid yet again." Harry said while walking away. Now it was my turn to go after him.
"I don't know why I didn't I tell you before." I said staring at Harry waiting for him to turn around. "I think I have liked you since Aria and I met at the cd signing. I only acted weird because if I let my guard down for a minute. Someone will always disappoint me." I said. Harry finally turned around and started walking towards me. He was standing right in front of me.
"You can trust me Marilyn." He said while picking a flower petal out of my hair. The wind had the flowers blowing everywhere. Harry started to lean in closer to me face but I quickly moved my head away.
"I won't be here long. I'm only here for a few weeks. I will be back in Florida and you will be somewhere else in the world touring." I said staring at the ground. Harry lifted my chin up so that we where facing each other.
"You're here now aren't you?" He asked. I nodded my head yes. We both turned around to leave.
"Can I give you a lift back to your hotel?" He asked. I just nodded my head again. I was still processing what just happened. Harry lead me to his car and when I opened the door and got in. There was the steering wheel in front of me. Harry got in on the other side.
"Your driving?" Harry laughed. "I forgot that you drive on the left side of the rode." I said as I got out of the car. When we got back in the car in our proper seating. I could feel myself getting really tired. "Can you meet me back here tomorrow?" Harry asked as he stared the car. "
I can't we have another group tour tomorrow and I don't know if I can get pass Mrs.Shaw this time." I said as Ieaned my head against the window.
"Well I have a plan."Harry said as he started the car. I looked over at Harry and for some reason he had the biggest smile on his face.
