8. Chapter 2: Concern for Alex
I let out a sigh as I slowly made my way to homeroom. Why is school so dreary, dull, lifeless, borin'? Whatever, this is my las year in this place, then it is off to University. I can't wait to finally be away, I mean sure it's more school, but there I will actually get to do what I want.
"Hey Xav!" Alex flew past me with a cheerful smile played across his lips. I waved but he was already lost amongst the sea of faces. What's gotten in to 'im? This mornin' he seemed really down, and now all of a sudden he's so happy. Whatever it is. I'm sure it's nothin'.
I walked into homeroom and took my seat next to D. I honestly don't know how I would survive with out her here. I mean I probably could, but she makes it all the more bearable.
"Hey Jimmy, what took you so long?" D said quietly so the teacher wouldn't hear her, and get mad while he goes through role.
"I was lost in thought." I said truthfully. She smiles at me.
"Day dreaming and classes haven't even started yet? Wow you sure do work fast." She giggled.
"Alexander." Mr. Mandarin called my name.
"Here," I presented with a smile then turned to D again. "no, just thinkin'"
Do you-" she was cut short.
"Darcy." Sir bellowed.
"Present." She the turned to me when sir went back to taking role. "I was going to say; do you like him?"
"Course I like 'im, he's like a brother to me." I said not quite understanding her question.
"No silly, do you fancy him?" I froze as the words left her lips.
"NO! No no no-" I was stopped by a hand on my shoulder.
"Mr. Horan, may I ask what it is that you are saying no to?" Sir stepped between us.
"Nothing, nothing at all sir." I looked away. "It won't happen again."
"It better not." He walked back to the front of the room, and I let out a sigh of relief. D just started giggling.
The bell rang, and everyone got up to leave to first period. D was always the first one out of the room, I don't get how she moves that fast. It's always like she's on a mission or somethin'. But I caught up to her.
As always I am the first one out of the room. I have a weird obsession with being the first out of a class room. I guess you could call it a form of claustrophobia. After I get out of the room though I slow down. Jimmy ran up beside me.
"About that question." He was breathing heavily. did he really have to run to catch up to me?
"What about it?" I ask involuntarily.
"I do not fancy 'im. I was thinking about 'im because you know how he was all down this mornin' , well he passed me in the hall smilin' brighter than the sun." I can't believe he managed to say all that between so little breaths.
"Really? That is a bit strange, I wonder what's gotten into him?" I placed a finger to my chin before speaking again. "I know, have Sophie ask him. They are in the same class after all." He face-palmed and started to run off.
"Thanks D!" She shouted and then muttered what sounded like I'm so stupid or something like that. Like that he was gone, I just decided to go to my class room.
My phone vibrated right as I took my seat for Chemistry. The bell hadn't rang yet so I checked it. It was from my father.
I hope you remember that this weekend is the boys Reunion Concerts, so dont forget to pack! :)
Shit! I forgot all about that. About two years back they put an end to the band, but told Simon they would do a Reunion Concert, or two, for as long as he wanted them too. This year we were probably doing the same thing we did last year. Yeah, fancy hotels, exquisite cooking, usually by my dad, but I'm not complaining, because he is an amazing cook. and his american recipes are to die for. Oh and when he mixes grandma Sue's recipes with grandma Anne's, you will die.
My dad opened a bakery shortly after the band split. 'Styles' Sweets' was taking London by storm. Everyone in London has heard of it, and can't get enough of it.
I was brought back to reality when the bell rang for next class. Great, I'm going to get a detention and my dads are going to hear about it. I thought rushing to class.
