I knew it was too good to be true. I guess that's why I really didn't mind that Niall didn't text me. He was just like any other 19 year old boy. he had some fun, and then just left. I didn't blame him. Deep inside, though, I knew that I really was disappointed.
I really didn't want to go to New York, but I had a contract with Syco Records and I HAD to. Missing Victoria wasn't easy, knowing that I shouldn't in the first place. Not being able to contact her made it so much worse. I wondered all the time what she was thinking; hoping she didn't feel like I blew her off. I was coming back today though. I'd finally get to see her again.
I sat on the couch eating a sub sandwich and watching TV. My mother took Stephanie to the mall to buy new shoes. There was a knock to the door. I was pretty certain that it was either Kyle or Lilly. I opened the door and.....
I knocked on her door, hoping that she was home. The door opened. She looked bored, then looked up from her sandwich and saw me. "NIALL?!" At least she remembered my name...I smiled. "Hey,"
"Wha-what are you doing here?" she stuttered. I guess it was a bad idea surprising her.
"If you're busy, I can come by later or....not?"
"No, no it's okay! What's up?"
He was here. At my door. It seemed like a big deal at the time.
"Well, I just got back from New York and was wondering if you'd want to go do something." I thought it over...."Sorry I didn't text you, by the way. I didn't have a single minute to myself."
I half-smiled. "It's okay; and I'm telling you right now. I'm not eating another five-pound burger. I woke up on my couch the next morning."
"I know, haha I'm the one who brought you home. You've got quite a mom! She wanted to draw on your face..." I hid my face in my hands.
"You've got to be kidding,"
"So do you want to go for an ice cream or something?" I nodded and went in the house to leave a note on the fridge and locked the door behind me.
We got ice cream and went back to our secluded spot on the beach.
"How was your trip to New York?" I asked casually.
"Okay I guess. Kind of boring." Niall said, not looking up from his cone. "I didn't really know anyone there. Other than Harry, Louis, Zayn, and Liam of course." I cocked my head.
"You look really depressed." I concluded.
"I'm not depressed, just tired."
"Well we can hang out some other time-"
"-no, not that kind of tired. I'm tired of flying back and forth, recording, never having a moment to myself."
"I may not be flying from one continent to another, but I don't have time for myself either. It may seem like I do, but it's really hard at home. My mom is nearly always working, so I'm always taking care of Stephanie; and believe me- that child eats more than I do!" He kind of laughed. "What? I'm serious! And If you ever just want to get away for a moment, you can always come visit here. I can guarantee I won't be leaving here anytime soon. Not with all of the crap that's going on."
"It's nice knowing I can have an anchor here if something happens. Don't think I plan on leaving and not staying in touch!" I don't know why I did it, but I leaned my head on his shoulder and giggled. Although I was freaking out in my head, he seemed completely unphased by it and looked at me sideways. "I really do want to keep contact! Don't laugh at me for wanting remember the girl who showed me how to be normal again."
"Alright, but I didn't think it was that big of a deal being normal. Kind of boring, actually."
"Not boring, peaceful." Niall corrected with a smile plastered across his face.
