You'll Never Treat Yourself Right (A Niall Horan Fanfic)

Hi, my name is Caterina Vierri. I'm 22 years old and I live in London, England. About three years ago, I moved here from Rome, Italy. I came here to study being a teacher. But, I'm not perfect or anything possibly similar to good. My parents abused me but they died in a car crash when I was 8. My current boyfriend, Charlie, abuses me and he won't let me leave him. Nobody has ever loved me, and I had a feeling nobody would. Then, I met Niall...

2. Why Did I Do It?

Caterina's POV:

After it was done, I couldn't believe what I just did. My whole left fore arm was completely sliced up. And it stung like hell. I went to my bathroom and got some hydrogen peroxide and dabbed my wound gently with a cotton ball. I bandaged it up and about 10 minutes after that, I heard a pounding on my door. I knew exactly who it was and exactly why he was here. I didn't want to get the door, but I really had no choice. Charlie's busted my door about 4 times before and now I just wasn't in the mood. I scurried to the door and gently opened it. Charlie barged in and pushed me onto the floor. "I thought I told you to call me!" he screamed. "I-I-I didn't have a chance I'm s-s-sorry. "No! No you are not sorry! But you're going to be!" he turned my way. I had stood up by now so he grabbed me and shoved me at the wall. Of course there was a picture on that wall so it shattered and there was blood everywhere. "That's what you get! So now you're going to tell me who you told and then you're going to pay!" Charlie shouted so loudly, I'm pretty sure the lobby could hear. And my flat is on the 13th floor... "Charlie! Goddammit have you ever just once thought about my feelings? Ever? No you haven't because you're a selfish jerk who beats women!" I screamed as I ran from the flat. To be honest, I didn't really know where I was going, I just knew I had to get away from Charlie.

I called a cab and asked to be driven to 9 Oxbow Lane. Marley's house. That's the last place Charlie would expect me to go on a hectic night like this. I quickly paid the driver and hopped out of the cab. I was hurrying over to Marley's door when I saw someone leaning up against the brick wall of the neighboring office building. They seemed all alone. "Excuse me, are you alright?" I asked, sounding pretty concerned. I walked closer to the person. "Niall? Is that you?"

Niall's POV:

I admit it, I walk the dark streets of London when I can't sleep or when I need to clear my head. But Cat was the last person I expected to see so late at night. And she was...alone. "Cat?" was the only thing I could manage to say. "Um, yeah." she said softly with the cutest look on her face. "So what are you doing here?" she asked. I wracked my brain for excuses because I couldn't tell her that I went for a walk to clear her from my mind. So I just shook off that question and asked, "Did you get my text?" I mentally facepalmed myself. That was probably the stupidest question I could have possibly asked. "Yeah, sorry I didn't reply. I was...busy." she smiled but I could tell it was forced, not a real smile. "Um, I'm sorry I kind of have to go." she almost whispered. "Oh. okay. So I guess I'll see you around?"

 Caterina's POV:

"Oh. okay. So I guess I'll see you around?" he said with his thick Irish accent. "Yeah, of course," I smiled weakly. I knew that he could see right through me but I wasn't going to tell him how my day went. I walked up to Marley's door and rang the bell. He quickly answered it and allowed me inside. I noticed Alicia sitting at the kitchen table. "A family gathering without inviting me?" I said sarcastically. "Oh, well Alicia was just telling me about her new boyfriend!" Marley said excitedly. Have I mentioned that Marley's gay? That must explain a lot, huh? "Oh, good for you." I said in the most unenthusiastic voice possible. "What's wrong Kitty Cat?" Alicia asked. I told her and Marley everything. I even told them about Niall and how he's outside right now. "Well that explains all of the cuts and bruises on your face then! I didn't want to say anything but, girl, you look terrible!" Marley told me. "Shut up, Marley," I said jokingly.

"Well, if Niall's outside, then why don't we invite him in?" Alicia suggested. "Yeah! I'll go get him!" Marley walked towards the door, opened it without giving me any time to object, and shouted, "Hey Leprechaun, we got a girl in here named Cat who says she knows you!" "um, okay," Niall said. "Well do you want to come in or not?" Marley asked sassily. "Sure, I guess." Niall practically whispered. I facepalmed myself. This cannot be good. I realized that this was technically me and Niall's first date. I had to tell him everything, about my parents' abuse, about Charlie's abuse, about my self harm, about everything. I knew that Niall would never want to be with someone with so many issues. This happens a lot. I get a date with a cute guy, I tell them my story, and then they run away from me like I just murdered a puppy!

As soon as Niall saw me, he rushed over to me and asked what happened to my face. I started from the beginning, when my parents started hitting me, to the end, when Charlie threw me at that wall. Now he knows my story. "But how? I don't understand. You were just a baby!" Niall said, clearly concerned. "Niall I don't even-" he cut me off "and Charlie! What a jerk he is! You could have reported him to the police!" he shouted. "Niall, I know. But he said that if I did, he would kill me. And Marley. And Alicia. And anyone else that matters to me." I explained. Niall was clearly shocked so I told him, "If you want to leave, and never come back, then I don't blame you. I don't blame you for judging me. You wouldn't be the first..." "Are you kidding? Of course I won't leave! I want to get to know you better. I'm not going to judge you by something that happened to you. It wasn't even your fault." He told me. "Thank you," was all I could say. "And y-you can't tell anyone."

 Niall's POV:

"I understand," I told Cat truthfully. "Good," she said. I could tell that she'd been misunderstood her whole life. I was like that too, back in Ireland. I was bullied so bad. People can be so cruel.
