Endlessly (A One Direction Love Story)

Anika has always been friends with Liam Payne. She forced him to play with her dolls when they were little, saw him in the front row at each of her dance recitals, forced him into the car for hours while she drove to auditions, and made him critique her every move at the studio. But two years ago, she sat backstage as her best friend sang his heart out for the second time. But this time, instead of coming home after two weeks, he was gone. For good. Liam and Ana still spend every waking hour together, but things are different. Niall and Ana are spending every waking hour together, and Liam's jealous. Will it be the classic story of the best friends who are meant to be, or are Liam and Ana destined to be... just friends?

12. Love Games

"I've never seen anyone who looks as good as you do it track pants." I said, pulling Ana down on my lap and kissing her. She giggled and smiled into the kiss, but then pulled away too soon.

"That's just how I roll!" She teased. Ana leaned down and brushed her lips against mine but didn't kiss me.

"It's times like this when I question my intelligence." I said. Ana laughed and rolled off me, sitting on the couch next to me and flipping the station to football.

"It's times like this when I hate Mexican TV." She said, trying to figure out what teams were playing, but she couldn't because the captions were all in Spanish.

"Two unimportant American teams. I always thought I'd end up dating someone who could speak something other than English." I teased, tickling Ana's side. She laughed and swatted my hand away.

"I speak more than English! I speak Thaiwanamericaneseish." She said. I stared at her. "I just made that up, just to be clear." She said. I broke and smiled, letting out a laugh as I reached over and started tickling her sides and her neck and her arms and knees. Ana's laugh was so cute, the way she squeezed her eyes shut and pressed her cheek into her shoulder. I climbed on her so I was straddling her, and then stopped tickling her after I pinned her wrists down.

"You're adorable." I said, kissing her cheek and then letting her go. Ana pressed her hands into my shoulders and shoved me back on the couch. She climbed on top of me and sat on my stomach, running her fingers through my hair.

"I'm adorable? That's it? Just adorable? Not beautiful?" She asked, raising her eyebrows.

"Nope." I said, popping the P. Ana's dropped her jaw but then moved so her legs were on either side of my torso and leaned closer to my face, pinning my hands over my head.

"I'm not hot? Irresistable? Sexy?" She said, cocking one of her eyebrows. I gulped. It took everything I had to shake my head. An dropped my hands and smiled coyly, climbing off of me.

"Well that's too damn bad for you." Ana said, scooting to the other side of the couch and staring blankly at the tele. I laughed and reached out for her hand. Ana pulled her hand away from me and kept her eyes on the TV. I got up and stood in front of her, my eyebrows raised. Ana scooted over a few feet so she could see the football match again. I sat down next to her so our shoulders were pressed together. She hopped over one seat and I hopped over as well. Ana stood up and walked to the other side of the couch and sat down, never once taking her eyes off the match. I sighed and decided to take things to the extremes.

"You made me do this!" I warned, then grabbed Ana's feet and pulled her so she was hanging upside down.

"Niall!" She screamed, flailing her arms and hitting my calves. I laughed and shook my head.

"You brought this upon yourself!" I said. Ana squealed as I lifted her up higher.

"Niall, please put me down!" She begged. I laughed and shook my head.

"No, sorry." I said. Ana screamed my name over and over.

"This probably sounds very dirty to Liam and Danielle." I pointed out once she started throwing things and banging on the floor. That stopped her shouting and throwing things. I tossed her up a little and wrapped my arms around her thighs, and then flipped her over my shoulder. Ana squealed and banged her hands on my back and bum.

"Put me down, Niall." She said, crossing her arms and going rigid. I laughed and carried her down to hall to my bedroom. I flipped Ana over on my bed and climbed up on top of her.

"You are beautiful, and hot, and irresistable, and sexy, and I love you a million times over." I breathed. Ana smiled and bit her lip.

"It's a little too late for that, Mr. Horan." Ana said, smirking. I shook my head.

"You can't escape. I've got you locked here with my charm and dazzling good looks." I said. Ana snorted and wrapped her hands around my shirt, pulling me down so our noses were touching.

"Charm and good looks don't get you far with me, bud." She said. I gulped but tried to stay cheeky.

"Good thing that's not all I have to offer." I said, then leaned down. Ana's eyes shut and her breathing hitched. Instead of kissing her. I got up off the bed and walked out of the room. It took all I had not to attack her and kiss the shit out of her, but I needed to have the upper hand.

"Damnit, Niall!" Ana shouted from the other room. I heard her step-clunk-step footsteps on the wall while she chased after me in her boot. I held back a laugh and started to prepare myself some tea. Ana pounded her fists on my back and I shook with silent laughter.

"Is there a problem, Ana?" I said, turning around and looking at her. She crossed her arms over her chest and pouted.

"Why did you leave me like that?" She demanded. "Kiss me, damnit!" Ana said, putting her hands on her hips. I shook my head and smirked.

"It's a little too late for that, Ms. Lane." I said, and met her eyes. Ana made a face and before I could turn back to the kettle, she grabbed the front of my shirt and pulled my face down to hers, and pressed her lips to mine fiercely.

I kissed her back like I'd never kissed before, and Ana jumped up, wrapping her legs around me. I carried her into the front room and kept running in to walls.

"Where's the damn couch!" I shouted, but Ana kissed me again and jumped up on the table, where she layed down. I climbed up on the table and hovered over her, kissing her fiercely. Ana grabbed my neck and pulled me back to her every time I tried to pull back and catch my breath. She grabbed the bottom of my shirt and pulled it off over my head, dropping it off on the floor. She ran her hands over my chest and pulled back for a second.

"You should go to the gym more often." She said. I rolled my eyes and snorted.

"Shutup." I breathed, and kissed her again. My hands trailed over her stomach, which was soft and her skin was cold to the touch. She had goosebumps all over her. I smiled into the kiss and edged my hands up to her ribcage. Ana's breath caught, but I knew she wouldn't let me do anything she didn't want. Never the less, I didn't move my hands any farther because I didn't know that I was even ready.

Suddenly, Ana put her hands on mine and helped me pull her shirt off. She pulled me down on the table and rolled us over so she was on top of me. Ana was wearing a bright green sports bra with a Nike symbol across the front. I ran my fingers over her back while she stared into my eyes.

"I love you so much, Niall." Ana breathed. I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her towards me, pressing a kiss on her lips.

"I love you more." I whispered, then started kissing her jaw. Ana arched her neck and fluttered her finger tips over my stomach and chest while I kissed her neck and collar bones. Then she pulled away and started kissing my lips differently than she had ever kissed me before. She scooted back and sat up, and I did the same. Ana sat on my lap with her legs wrapped around my waist and kissed me over and over again. Finally I pulled away and caught my breath. I needed to calm down.

"Maybe we should stop." I said. Ana stared into my eyes for a second and then nodded. I kissed her one more time and she scooted over and sat down in one of the chairs. I grabbed my shirt off the floor and handed hers back to her. She pulled it over her head and I walked into the kitchen and got myself a glass of ice water. I sipped it as I leaned against the counter. I knew I wasn't ready for too much, but Ana was just so perfect, so tempting. But I knew we both had boundaries that I wasn't ready to cross.

"Niall?" Ana called. I walked into the other room and saw her standing in the empty living room. Empty. The couch was gone. I set my glass on the table but the table wasn't there and my glass fell to the ground and water splashed on my feet. I looked around the room. The TV was still there, and everything else, but the side table and coffee table and couch were gone. I walked into the front room and saw that the table and all four chairs were all missing.

"We were just on that table!" Ana said from behind me. I turned around and stared at her.

"What  the hell is going on?" I sighed, running a hand through my hair. Ana and I walked into the kitchen and the toaster and microwave and tea kettle were gone. "I was literally just in here. Two seconds ago." I said. Ana walked back into the living room.

"Jesus!" She said. I sighed and walked in. The photographs were all gone from the walls. And the glass on the floor was gone as well.

"Louis Fucking Tomlinson." I said. I walked out into the hall and my jaw dropped. My couch, coffee table, side table, dining table, four chairs, TV, and tonnes of framed photos were all stacked in a pile in the middle of the hall, with the empty glass balanced on top. And beside this masterpiece was Louis, Harry, and Eleanor.

"You guys did this?" I said, trying to yell but also trying not to laugh. Then a thought hit me. "You were doing this while we were... How long were you in there for!?" I shouted. Ana walked over and started laughing when she saw the pile of furniture.

"The whole. Entire. Time. Smooth, man." Harry said. I slapped the air in front of him and ran my hands through my hair. I was humiliated. I was never going to see the end of it if Louis and Harry had been there when I chickened out. My stomach dropped and I felt sick.

"Whatever. Just leave and I'll put it back myself." I said, not looking at any of them. Louis started to talk but I glared at him. "Just leave." I said sharply. Louis and Eleanor walked off, and Harry trailed behind them. Ana reached out and touched my shoulder, but I shook her off.

"Don't touch me." I said quietly. Ana stepped back and then walked off to my bedroom. I pressed my face into my hands and groaned. Then I started moving all of my furniture back into my flat. After an hour I finally had everything back where it belonged (sort of) and the tele set up again. I sunk down on the couch and pressed my head into my hands. I didn't want to cry, it was stupid of me to cry, but I could still feel the tears building up.

"Niall?" Ana asked, and I glanced up to see her hovering in the doorway. I rubbed my eyes and ran a hand through my hair.

"Maybe you should go." I said avoiding her gaze. Out of the corner of my eye I could see the hurt look on her face. But I didn't feel like apologizing. I couldn't get it out of my head that I was such a huge chicken. I loved her and I was still too scared to even try anything with her.

"I guess I'll see you tomorrow. Or not, you know. Call me I guess." Ana said. She grabbed her bag and didn't even bother getting all of her various things that she had left in my flat. Ana pulled on her shoe and slammed the door behind her. As soon as her clunky footsteps disappeared down the hall I layed down on the couch and let the tears out. I was such a coward, and everyone knew it. Ana knew it, Harry and Louis and Eleanor knew it, I knew it. It made me sick that I was too scared to even prove to Ana how much I loved her. That I'd do anything for her. The fact that she was ready to be my everything and I was too scared made me feel like a bad boyfriend, like I was no good for her.

I'm so stupid.
