Mari's POV

I rubbed my arm awkwardly, not knowing what to say. After Sofia left, I was left with a very quiet and shy Zayn, along with Niall constantly looking at me, and darting his eyes away when I would glance at him. I swung my arms back and forth and let out a long, heavy breath. "How long does it take to surf?"

Like some magical force heard me, I saw Sofia running towards me. With her wet suit on. Smiling. Like a lot. Like, she was smiling A LOT. It looked like she was having the best day of her life. Her whole face was lit up, and her cheeks held a slight pinkish color. She doesn't smile like that very often...

She whirled past me, totally oblivious to me standing there. "Uh, HELLO!" I yelled, running after her. She didn't stop or turn around. I  shook my head and ran harder, trying to catch up. "SOFIA!" I yelled again, running out of breath. Since when could she run that fast? Finally, she began to slow down and she turned her head slightly to look at me. I caught up to her a moment later, staying at a steady jog. "So, what the hell was that about?"

I rolled my eyes. "It looked like you just won the lottery and you were skipping to your pool filled with millions of dollar. That's what."

She squinted her eyes, which she does when she's confused.

"You know what Sof, forget about it. We need to get ready. We only have five minutes." With that we both ran to the bathrooms.

When we got inside, both of us scrunched up our noses. "What the hell is this shit?" I mumbled under my breath and looked around. The floors were covered in water, looking like everyone missed the toilet. Sand was everywhere, and it smelled like someone took a massive dump and forgot to flush.

"Forget about it. Like you said we have to get ready--"

"But how can we change in a shit hole like this?!"

"Damn it Mari! Just give me the clothes!"

"The clothes..?" I asked, looking at my empty hands. "I thought you got--"

"How could I get them? You were the one running after ME!" She threw her hands in the air. "We're already late, we don't have time to go back and grab our clothes."

"I guess we have to perform with our bikinis on." I said with a half-hearted laugh. Her eyes widened in disbelief. "Well I get to perform in a bikini, you have to do it in a wetsuit. Ha. Ha." I giggled and shrugged, nervously.

"Screw it. Let's do this thing," Sofia said, walking out of the bathroom.

We ran as quickly as we could to the stage we performed at earlier today. The owner was standing there, angry. Again. Damn it.

"You guys are late again! I can't believe this. You know what, you go on and perform, but you aren't getting paid!" He yelled and walked away, mumbling stuff under his breath.

We hung our heads in shame and got on stage. Luckily my violin and Sofia's mic were already set up. We went to our places, and looked out into the crowd. Well, where the crowd was supposed to be. The only people there were the five boys who came with us. A particular curly haired one didn't look too happy to be there.

"Helloooo Manly Beach!" Sofia said, her voice booming through the mic. Some people turned around, but nobody seemed interested. Luckily, Sofia didn't let that get to her. It definitely made me feel like shit.

"Well, sorry for being a little late. We have to cut out a couple of songs, but we promise you guys are going to love it!" Again, more silence. Sofia rolled her eyes and frowned. "Well then," she mumbled into the mic, "Enjoy the fucking show."

She put her mic back into the holster, and the boys clapped nicely and even whistled a little bit. I looked over at Sofia, and she nodded. We started playing Viva La Vida by Coldplay.

I took in a deep breath and started my violin solo. I looked out at the boys, and saw Niall start smiling. I started blushing and quickly looked to Sofia. She smiled at me and mouthed, "That's his fave song!" Then she started singing. With that we performed, pouring our hearts out. All of a sudden a thick, Irish accent started yelling out lyrics.

"One minute I heeeeeld the keyyyy!! Next the walls were closed on meeee. And I discovered that my castle stands upon pillars of salt -- pillars of sand!!

I started laughing really hard, almost dropping my violin, and Sofia laughed as well, but was able to compose herself close after. She waved the boys closer to us. I raised my eyebrows -- What was she doing?

Once they were close enough she stopped singing. "Ladies and gentlemen, One Direction!" She pointed at them and they started singing where Niall left off, and then she quickly followed behind. I took my violin off my shoulder and put it to my side, and looked at them, amazed. I've honestly never been a directioner or what ever they're called, but they were... Wow. Pretty damn good!

I looked around the beach, and saw girls, and some guys, coming over. Soon the boys and the stage were surrounded by screaming fans. Some were yelling out the lyrics, while others were just screaming at the top of their lungs.

I continued to look around, smiling like a complete idiot. Though they weren't exactly screaming or cheering for me, it felt amazing. What if the boys' management agree to have us on tour with them? Then they would be screaming for Sofia and I. Then we would finally be able to run away from our pasts. We could finally be truly happy...

My face began to hurt because of how hard I was smiling. I glanced at Sofia, and I saw her looking from me to my violin. Oh yeah, I forgot I wasn't playing. I clumsily moved it to my shoulder and stood there, trying to find the right place to come in. I looked around embarrassed but luckily they were all paying attention to the boys and Sofia. Why would they pay attention to the dorky girl with a violin anyway?

I let out a sigh, and at that moment something caught the corner of my eye. I saw Niall smiling at me, like the way a loved one would look at you. Then Harry stopped singing and whispered something into his ear. Niall instantly stopped smiling and jolted his head away, looking pissed. A small, devious smirk crept its way to Harry's face. What the hell is going on?
