The next morning Nick and I walked over to Addie’s house to get breakfast and stuff. Addie was still asleep on the couch when we walked in to a Joseph making pancakes and sausage. It smelled sooo good.

“Wow! It smells delicious in here!” I said as I sat at the bar.

“It better! I’ve been up since 8 making it,” Joe laughed as he flipped a pancake.

Addie woke up, still looking pretty tired. “I’m guessing we are having a lazy day?” I asked giving her a hug.

“Oh my goodness, that sounds fantastic!” she nodded excitingly.

Her phone buzzed so she took it out of her pocket and opened the text. I walked over to the bar table and put a big stack of pancakes on my plate with some sausages, covering everything in syrup. Gotta love my syrup.

“Hey my family is coming in town. I guess they wanted to surprise me.” Addie said, looking over at me.

“Oooh which side?” I asked, dumbfoundedly.

Wait. I just remembered that her dad lives down the road, and covered my mouth. Her mommy!! I loved her mommy! She was one of the coolest moms ever, just saying.

“Wow, Leah,” Nick smirked at me.

“Hey! I forgot for a second,” I argued, but still blushed.

They laughed until Joe asked, “When will she be here?”

Addie held up a finger for us to hold on, while she checked her phone. Suddenly she looked up and out the window.

“Umm, Leah? I think they’re here now,” she laughed.

I grabbed her hand and ran out the door with her pulling me along.

“Mommy!!” Addie yelled and jumped into her mother’s arms.

“Hi, honey. You look beautiful! Did you do something new with your hair?” Mrs. Hampton smiled and stroked her hair

“When were you going to tell me you were coming?” Addie said excitedly.

“Well we wanted to come see how you and Leah were doing. Speaking of which, hi darling. It’s so nice to see you,” she said bringing me into a tight hug.

“It’s great to see you too, Mrs. Hampton,” I smiled at her.

“How many times have I told you to call me Molly, or even Mom? I’m old, but not that old,” she laughed and patted my back.

I laughed, “Yes, Mom.”

“That’s better, now Addie? Help your sister and Keith bring in the bags,” her mother ordered Addie. She sees Joe and Nick come up the driveway and immediately runs to hug them. “It’s so great to see you guys again since the wedding. How are things?”

“It’s great, Molly. I’m still grateful to have that girl over there in my life,” Joe said hugging her.

“Same here. Leah and I are engaged finally,” Nick smiles at me as I bring a suitcase down the driveway. “And I think she and Addie are gonna need some more help planning.”

“Of course! I would be honored to help. I’m sure I can call her mother as well and get her down here to help,” Molly said.

“Oh there’s no need. She is already busy with reservations for the reception and many other things on top of that,” I tell her.

She laughs and nods her head in understanding. We take the rest of their baggage in and catch up over sandwiches and lemonade. Addie had to leave after she ate, for an appointment of some sort. I think I know what it is but I wasn’t positive. After Madison, her sister, and I did the dishes, we both sat back down and started going over some more details for the wedding. Food being served, live entertainment, etc. Addie and I had already chosen the decorations for the tables and such, hired a cook, and pulled some waiters from around the area and old friends that volunteered to help out serving, cooking, and cleaning. Some people are so humble and amazing that I could never thank them enough for their help. The guys helped out a bit and went to go check out the studio, since Keith was in to music as well. After a while, Addie got back with patches on her neck and hands.

“Guess what I just got?” she squealed to us.

“Those tattoos you wanted?” I asked wanting to see them.

“You got a tattoo?” her mother asked, eyebrows raised.

“Actually, four…”Addie lowered her voice.

Her mom looked shocked but started laughing. “Well let’s see them!”

“I can’t, not yet. I have to wear these bandages until they dry and close. But soon,” Addie said putting grocery bags on the counter.

She joined us at the table.

“Well since you are back, I was thinking that we need to do a mani-pedi a couple days before the wedding. I know this great place that includes a relaxing massage with the mani-pedi deal. It’s amazing!” Molly said.

“Ooooh that will be so nice to just have that girl spa day,” I say closing my eyes in contentment.

“Well since we’ve done a ton today we should watch a movie or something relaxing,” Addie yawned in exhaustion.

“I so agree! Can I join?” Madison asks pleading.

“Of course,” I smile at her.

“Sounds great! Molly, Madison, and I will pick out a movie,” I told Addie. “Go get the boys.”

Addie left to get the men while Molly and I picked out the Notebook to watch. The boys aren’t massive fans of chick-flicks but that is just too bad. Addie, Joe, Molly, and Keith took the couch, Madison took the chair near the windows, as Nick and I grabbed some blankets from a closet upstairs and curled up on the floor. We all watched intently and a few tears prickled down my cheeks at the end. Nick hugged me tighter and rubbed my back in comfort. I just thought about how dedicated that man was to his wife to never give up hope on her and stayed with her until they fell into the heavens holding each other. It was perfect. I would be so blessed to have Nick do something like that for me. I looked up at Nick and kissed his jaw and curled back into his neck.

“You know I would do anything for your love, no matter what. Even if something as drastic as that happened, I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I let you go because of something I thought was impossible to fix,” Nick petted my hair and kissed the top.

“And I you,” I whispered, squeezing him tighter.

We all wiped our eyes and giggled slightly.

“Sometimes I can’t stand those movies, but I love them in every single way possible,” Molly said, standing up to go to the bathroom.

I giggled and pulled Nick up with me, giving him another squeeze, taking in every bit of his scent and warmth.

Joe yawned, “Man, I’m starving.”

“Tell me about it,” Addie said standing up and walking to the kitchen. “I could make us some chicken and dumplings? I just bought some dumpling ingredients.”

“Sounds delicious,” Keith said rubbing his growling stomach.

Madison helped Addie make some food and we all ate, laughing and giggling about past things. It was a really great night to just be together, like a family. I smiled at everyone’s bright faces. After dinner, we all headed off to bed, and Nick and I to our house. We unlocked the door and found a sleeping dog at our feet. I smiled at Nick as we maneuvered around Elvis’s sleeping body. We refilled his water and food bowl before heading up to bed. I looked at the alarm clock on our nightstand, which showed the time 8:43.

“Wow it’s only 8? Why am I so tired?” I whined, changing into sweats and a tank top.

“I was going to ask the same thing to you,” Nick smiled and kissed my neck after I pulled the tank top over my head.

I giggled at the sensation of his breaths so close to my hairline. I took a deep breath and let him wander his hands over my neck and shoulders down to my waist, rubbing in small circles, not breaking lip contact with my neck. I tensed when he found a ticklish spot on my lower back.

“Why so tense, honey?” he whispered against my skin, a smirk clearly evident in his voice. I wiggled from his touch and giggled as he pulled me back to him, my back hitting his chest hard.

“Ow!” we both laughed at the sudden connection.

“Let’s get some sleep, Nick,” I tiredly rubbed my eyes after laying under the covers pulling it up to my neck.

Soon after, Nick slid under the covers with me, in only boxers. I immediately cuddled against him and started drifting off to sleep.

“I love you,” I sighed against his chest.

“I still love you,” Nick breathed before letting sleep take over our bodies.
