3. Planning Day!

I woke up to the sun shining through my window.  I could hear birds chirping and cars passing outside.  Everything seemed so peaceful.  I yawned and rubbed my eyes.

“Honey?  It’s time to get up.  We have a lot to plan today!”  I said shaking Nick a little to wake up, but he was out of it.

I shook him a little harder, but still nothing.

“Babe?” I asked rubbing his cheek.

He moaned a little and opened his eyes, tiredly.  I smiled and gave him a quick kiss.

“Good morning, beautiful,” he yawned and stretched, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me down.

“Sweetie?” I giggled.  “We have to get up and plan, Plan, PLAN!”

“No! I don’t wanna get up!” he muffled into my shoulder.

I laughed and kissed his neck, to release me from his grasp.  Bad idea.  It just made him hold onto me longer.

“UGH! WE have to get up! It’s gorgeous outside!” I said trying to push him off.

He let go a tiny bit and looked in my eyes.

“But you’re gorgeous,” he smiled.

“And so are you, but we need to get up and do something productive today,” I whined.

“Fine, but I want take you out today,” he pointed at me.

I kissed his finger and sighed.

“Fine, fine,” I smiled as he pulled me in for a nice passionate kiss.

It lasted for about a minute and then I pulled away.

“We really need to get up now,” I whispered.

“Okay,” he gave me one more peck on the lips.

We got up and got dressed into some nice summer clothes.  I had a white dress with flowers on it.  I looked like a church girl on Easter.  I put on some pink flats and walked downstairs to wait for Nick to get out of the shower.  I made us omelets and poured two cups of orange juice.  I started humming a Jonas song and did a little dance.  I’ve been a dancer since I was 4 till I was a senior in high school.  I was planning on doing dance and music in college, but Nick and I got really serious and he was way too busy with recording and touring for me to even think about college stuff.  I planned on starting college soon though.  I guess I would have a lot of time when Nick is touring and after we are married.  I still wanted that degree.

Anyways, so I was dancing around like a fool.  I heard footsteps on the stairs and just decided to ignore it.  I sat on the stool we had at the counter and started singing the song, holding the spatula as a microphone.  I stopped when I saw Nick leaning against the wall at the bottom of the stairs, smirking

“What are you laughing at?” I said smiling.

“You and your dorkiness.  It’s uber cute,” he said.

I got off the stool and walked over to the plates with the omelets on them.  I opened our silverware drawer and grabbed 2 forks and put them on the plates.  I grabbed his omelet and his orange juice and took it to the table.

“Thank you, sweetie! It looks delicious!” he said, digging in.

“No problem, hon,” I laughed at his eating manners.  He eats like a pig.

I grabbed my plate and juice and sat down, pouring salsa all over my omelet.  I love my salsa.  Nick looked at me in disgust as I spread it all over.  I quickly ate, breathing in between bites and taking a sip of OJ.  We finished breakfast and washed the dishes.

“So, love? What do you want to do today?” Nick asked rubbing his belly.

“Well I want to plan a little bit of our wedding today, and afterwards we can go swimming or to the beach of something!” I said taking out a planner of paper and pen.

“So I’m thinking that our wedding colors could be a red and champagne.  More of a dark crimson rather than a rosy red.  And I cut out some table cloths, décor, and flowers for the wedding reception that I found in magazines also!  What do you think?” I said as I handed him the magazine papers I tore out.

He looked at them for a while and nodded excitedly.

“I love this color! And the table decorations are really beautiful!  I think these will be perfect!” he said pointing to the pictures.

“Oh good!” I said clapping my hands. “Also I’m going to have to go shopping for bridesmaids dresses when Addie gets back.  I will shop for my dress as well.”

Nick smiled at me.  I could see he was really eager and excited about the wedding as much as I was.

“Now, I have another important question for you, sweetie,” I asked looking at him directly in the eyes to get his attention.  “The wedding itself. You know my religion and the standards yet we haven’t made a decision on whether you want to convert to my church or not.  It is kind of important because I’ve dreamed of getting married in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ temple.  Ever since I was a little girl!  Have you decided if you want to convert yet?”

He looked hard at me and concentrated on something.  He was deep in thought.  This was a hard decision and I don’t blame him.  Although Addie, Joe, and Nick have been coming to church with me for a while now, they haven’t made a full commitment.  My church is a Christian-based religion so it wasn’t hard for them to keep to the standards and relate to my beliefs.  Nick was very excited about this church and I could definitely tell.  I feel bad though because Addie and Joe are excited about drinking and they love the taste of wine, but they would have to give that up if they were to join this church.

“I have a feeling that being baptized and joining the LDS church will fill our family with blessings.  Leah? I want to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,” Nick said taking my hands and smiling.

I was tearing up.  Nick and I were so overwhelmed with joy that we started crying.  It felt perfect. I gave him a quick kiss and smiled.

“That only leaves the problem that your family, Addie, and Joe can’t attend the actual wedding, but our wedding reception will be the biggest ever, sweetie,” I said writing it down.  “We’ll make invitations for the reception and what not.  I can handle that online.”

“And I’ll go call some friends of mine as well to be a part of my ‘man-court,’” Nick said taking out his phone.

I laughed as he left the room to call people.  I took out my phone as well and called the missionaries in my area to tell them about my fiancés conversion and wanting to be baptized immediately.  They confirmed a date for us to talk to my bishop and were willing to come over and teach a few lessons.  I mentioned that he has been attending meetings with me for the past 3 years and was now willing to be a member.  Nick came back in the room as I was finishing my phone call.

“Hey honey. I set a date for our talk with my bishop.  After that meeting, he will set you up for a baptism date,” I said as he sat down.

“Oh, I’m so glad!  I just got off the phone with our friend Jesse and he said that he could make it for our reception!” Nick said excitedly.

My face lit up.

“Jesse? McCartney?” I said shocked.

“Yes! Why are you so surprised?” Nick asked cocking his head.

“I knew Jesse when we were like 6!  We grew up in the same preschool and kindergarten until he moved, but we were inseparable!” I squealed.  “I’ve missed him a bunch!”

“That’s awesome!  I didn’t know you knew him!” Nick said.

“We rarely keep in touch, but it’s been 5 years since we last talked!  I was just glad I knew him before he got all famous and stuff.  He says he liked it better that way, but he still loves his fans,” I smiled.

“Well that’s great, hon.  Make a list of everyone that will be the best man and grooms men, bridesmaids and maid of honor,” Nick said taking out a sheet of paper in my planner.

“Already started!” I said handing him the paper I was writing on.

We already made 2 lists of the bride’s girls and the groom’s men, but we also finished an invite list.  I went online and ordered almost 350 invitations.  They weren’t that much so I took care of it.  Nick and I decided to have the reception in Texas near his family and wrote down lists of my family members that we need to buy plane tickets for.  We finished some more planning and put all the supplies away.  I was so exhausted.  I looked at the clock and it was almost 4 o’clock.

“So what should we do now?” I asked rubbing my forehead.  Headaches are the worst!

“I say me and you take a little trip to Malibu.  I’ve been looking up condos and places to eat there for a while now.  I was planning on taking Addie and Joe when they got back, but they, being in Italy and all is just not fair,” Nick said taking out his phone to show me the reservations for a condo.  “I was thinking me and you could go for a week and a half.”

He looked up at me with questioning eyes.

“That sounds perfect!  When are we going to leave?”  I took his hand and shook it wildly.

“We could leave now?  It’s about a 8 hour drive down there and we can wait till tomorrow to actually go to the beach,” he said looking at me smiling.

“Let’s do it!” I said dragging him upstairs to pack our bags.

I packed tons of knee-length shorts and tank tops with small jackets.  I packed a tankini and one bikini.  I was only planning on wearing the bikini to tan in.  I grabbed shirts and dresses and my Rainbows.  I packed all my toiletries and a small hamper for us to throw our clothes in later.  We packed our stuff all in the trunk of his car and grabbed some snacks and blankets for the ride.  This was going to be exciting!
