I Do.

Leah and Addie are best friends. Addie finally gets married and now it's Leah and Nick's turn. The planning, the stress, their love getting stronger, the jealousy. Leah and Nick are put to the test to get through their wedding and maybe an unexpected member joins the family on their way to the wedding day. Find out in "I Do."

15. New Music

Joe and Addie returned from their visit to the Jonas home in Texas that next Saturday. The next few days we’ve been writing a lot and recording tracks for their album, while getting ready for the biggest day of my entire life. Joe and Nick have been secretly recording and writing some songs of their own and I’m genuinely excited to see what their brilliant minds have created. Addie and I were in my living room, writing music with the beautiful white piano that Nick and I got for an early wedding present from Papa J and Mama J. They are seriously the complete opposite of the in-laws people fear. They already feel like my own.

Addie was playing around with some keys, as well as I, when I suddenly hit the prettiest chord ever. Addie stopped playing.

“Play that again,” she said.

I did, and she added her own chord with the second hand. Perfect. She clapped giddily and took over, playing both hands, moving them easily to the next chord. We immediately wrote it down on the sheet music. By the end of our second hour of playing and writing, we came up with a beautiful melody on the piano. What we were missing? Lyrics.

I chewed on the edge of the pencil and thought hard, “Hmmm, I just can’t figure out what to write about.”

“Write about Nick,” Addie shrugged, passing me the paper.

“What?” I asked confused. “I thought we were going to write this together.”

“We have. Just say what you think would be perfect, for both of us,” she stood up and put her shoes back on, grabbing her house keys. “I’m going to go get some food. Chick-fil-A?”

“Deluxe chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce and a medium lemonade,” I said giving her a 10 dollar bill.

“When I get back, you better have SOMETHING on that paper,” she winked and left.

Man, this seems really hard. I started playing the keys to the chorus and singing random words, “I, love you so. If you hold me, I won’t let go. Stay, next to me. Will you promise, never to leave?”

I took my hands off the piano and shook my head. I tried again and again, but it just wouldn’t come to me.

I texted Nick the first choice of words I sang, to see if he could change them.

I sent him a recording of the chords and waited for a response. My phone rang.

“Hey honey. Can you…?” I started talking, until I heard him singing on the other side.

“Stay. Stay with me. If you promise, not to leave. Don’t, be afraid. Hold me closer, say ‘it’s okay’,” he sang beautifully.

I was awe-struck, “How did you…?”

“I just thought of you, Leah, and it came naturally. Just think a bit harder, using my every move as your muse,” Nick said softly. “I have to finish something real quick. I’ll be over soon.”

“Okay, thank you, honey,” I said.

We hung up and I quickly wrote down the lyrics. It took me a while to get that musical buzz going, but when Addie arrived with the food, I had finished 2 verses and the chorus. I sang it to her and she clapped and handed me my sandwich. “See? That wasn’t so hard.”

“Do I get points off if I asked for help from a significant other?” I asked, guiltily.

“No, sometimes you need that little push,” she smiled.

We ate our sandwiches and cleaned up, putting away the sheet music. Joe and Nick came back over to show us some songs that they were working on. One was called, “Dance until Tomorrow”.

“I love it!” I exclaimed, after a preview of the mix.

“But do you think our fans will like it? We actually were just fixing this track and adding some other things to the old one. We recorded this for our A Little Bit Longer album, but it didn’t go through to the track list,” Nick said.

“Really? Why not?” I asked confused. “Well I guess this kind of music is only just becoming more popular now. You should release it.”

Joe shook his head, “We can’t just release unreleased, prerecorded songs onto a different album. Even though we have our own label now, the industry wouldn’t approve.”

Addie looked at him, “What if you release it on YouTube? Like an ‘accidental’ leaking of the song. Honey, people need to hear this, and no doubt that your fans will love it.”

I nodded frantically in agreement. “There’s not much they can do when you leak a song.”

“That is true, Nick,” Joe said.

“Okay, but how are we going to do this?” Nick asked puzzled.

“Addie and I have our own YouTube channels, but we can also use a different email to start a new, secret, undercover one to release it. I can write that you guys do own the song from your recording label and I have no rights to it. We should be able to put it out soon,” I said opening my laptop.

We agreed to the name and an email that I hardly ever use anymore. We uploaded the perfected track and added the Jonas’s latest logo to the video. Posted! After it was complete, tagging the Jonas Brothers and their new music, and having them share it on social media, they got instant hits. They felt awful after their label called them directly in the next hour to tell them off and ask how it got released but we played innocent. I really think this song needed to be heard and I’m glad they agree.

A/N: Okay so I haven't ever done this YouTube video tag before so I'm going to try it. I might even make a video of me singing and playing "I Say Forever," which I'll post on the other book the first time Leah wrote it with Nick, so look out for that. Also, with the "Dance until Tomorrow," I didn't actually post that on YouTube at all, so obviously that is fake, but I'm also just writing it off my perspective of how I first heard the song. And the one I tagged to this chapter is the one I heard. Anyways, enjoy! I'm so glad I'm writing so much, but if I ever disappear again, I'm back at college or I have once again forgotten. I'm so sorry everyone, but thank you to all those still reading! Please share!! :) xoxo Ana M
