Going through Here and There

Victoria lived most of her life living a lie. Then she meets up with an old friend in an exhibition and they contact each other again. But is everything real, or is it a lie? Or is everything just a dream and a vision?

3. The Exhibit

Victoria's P.O.V.

It had been many years since I had kept the name Camille. To be honest, I started to forget how I looked like with dark brown hair. I bet if it wasn't for the fact that the corporation calls me Victoria, I would have gotten so used to the name Camille. I stopped going to school years ago, when the corporation decided that it was not that good to be making friends with the outsiders in this world.
Whatever that meant.
Anyways so now I wake up everyday just to train and improve my skills. I was already 18, but I was turning 19 on May.
I was so happy that I was almost 19, I have waited most of my life for that age to come. It's like the last year of being a teenager. There were good things and bad things about being 19. First of all, there's more pressure on you, but you get to use much more advanced weapons. Second, you get harder and complicated missions, but you decide how you want things to go. Lastly, you get more gifts from the corporation.
So now I'm here sitting in a cafe drinking tea, while talking to one of the people from the corporation. She was talking to me about the next mission.
"It isn't that hard, right?" She asked me and took a sip of tea.
"Yeah," I said. "It's not. It's quite easy."
I mean, all I have to do is guide the exhibition and make sure nothing gets stolen. How hard can that be? I bet a 12 year old person who has common sense can even complete this task. What is this task? It seems like some kind of joke!
Jenelyn noticed that I was too calm about it, so she decided to talk again.
"It's not that easy as it seems," she said. "There will be terrorists from all around the world during that exhibition."
Now this made me scared. Terrorists! Seriously? What if I get kidnapped or killed? I felt my body quiver.
"What is in this exhibition anyway?" I asked and I knew that my voice seemed shakey.
"Just really important heirlogriphics and egyptian stuffs," she said.
"Really?" I said before I could even stop myself.
"No," she said. "I'm just joking."
"So there are no terrorists?" I said.
"No, we just need someone who can watch the exhibition without anyone suspecting," she said.
"Oh, cause I'm gonna stay there for like the whole time," I said and waited for a reply but she just simply nodded her head.
Whew! I was so relieved! For a moment there I started to get scared that there were really terrorists coming. I stood up from seat and shook hands with Jenelyn and left the cafe.
That night, I got a box from the corporation, it was the outfit I was going to wear to the exhibition. To be honest, it wasn't my type but I had no choice.
The next day followed and I'm getting ready for the exhibition. I put my clothes on and then my makeup. I fixed my hair into a messy bun, and placed lots of pins to support it. I looked at the mirror, and realized that I looked like a clown with makeup on. I really hated makeup, but I've never been pretty, so I needed to wear makeup.
I put on my shoes and turned to look at the clock. It was 6:30 p.m. I went out of the house and outside waiting for me was the chaffeur. He opened the door of the car and I got in.
I finally arrived to the setting of the exhibition. When I entered, there were still so little people. I looked around to examine each of the things in the exhibition.
Many minutes passed and more and more people started to come in the exhibition. I kept a close eye for any terrorist incase if there were actually any.
I turned to one case that contained such a beautiful accessory. I read the caption, it said "Egyptian's Crown." I looked at it in amazement and couldn't help but realize how beautiful it was.

"Um, excuse me, miss." A familiar voice ripped me out of my thoughts. I didn't want to look back, incase they were terrorists. I felt my body petrify, with the man's voice. "Have we met before?" I still didn't want to look back. What if it was one of those criminals I've fought before but now they've escaped and are after me! I slowly turned my head around, and standing there infront of me was someone I never expected to see.
