14. Simply perfect.

I was taken aback for a moment.

“Pardon?” I asked, confused.  Niall let out a long sigh. His face was bright red.

“Sorry. Urm, I should have never said that. That was rude and selfish of me.” He murmured quickly. I grabbed his hand.

“No , Niall don’t be sorry. You weren’t being rude or selfish. I just don’t get why though.”

“Why what?”

“Why, out of all the people in the world, fall for me. A hopeless, lonely, miserable girl.” I stated.

“Stop bashing yourself. You are a wonderful person. You’re so perfect , its beyond belief.”

“Me? Perfect? Niall, are you okay? Are you sick? Do you need your eyes checked? Maybe we should go to the hospital to get you checked out.”

“Stop that. I’m being serious. You’re so sweet and you have this strange effect on people. Whenever you walk into a room with a smile on your face, the whole place just brightens up. You may not know it but you really do turn heads when you walk through the door. I love that you hate makeup. I love that you love food. I love that you like to curl up in a chair with a good book on a rainy day. I love you in general.” He said. This boy was being serious.

“Thanks Niall. Those are just the positive qualities about me I guess. What about the fact that I have a huge scar on my face? What about the stomach of mine that will never be flat? What about the no thigh gaps? What about those things, huh?” I asked. It was true. I never was that type of girl and I never will be.

“Those are the traits that will make you even more beautiful. I don’t want skin and bones. I want a real girl. I don’t want someone who looks like a model. If I did, I would have gone after one by now. I don’t want to be with a person who lives really unhealthy lives. You don’t need a flat stomach to be beautiful. You don’t need thigh gaps to be beautiful. The scars that you have, those define you. Why can’t you accept that you’re so beautiful and perfect in every single way? I don’t understand”

“It’s just that the generation we live in now basically is hinting at us to look like models. If you want to feel accepted, you have to cover your face up with makeup. You have to be super thin. You have to be able to skip meals. You have to do all these things to yourself to feel accepted. I never believed in doing these things and in return, I was the freak. The weirdo. The uncool one.” I sighed.

“But you excelled beyond those people. You did exceptionally well in school. You are talented. In the end, where are those people? Still wasting their lives worrying about their image instead of doing something useful? That’s exactly where they are. Please, just accept that you are perfect and beautiful. Please understand that if you’re ever down, I will always be here for you. Always.” He said.

“Thank you Niall. You’re such an amazing person. I’m glad that I have someone like you in my life.”

“I want to be in your life for as long as you live. Please, let me show you how much I love you.” He begged.  I looked at him. He was such a sweet and caring person. As painful as I felt earlier, this boy helped me get through it within half an hour.  He really did love me, and I can tell by looking into his eyes. Those eyes. You can stare straight into them and get lost for days.  I leaned forward and hugged him tightly, my face nuzzled into his neck.

“Okay.” I whispered. Niall kissed my cheek and led me back to the car. He drove me around town, to have some fun. We visited a fair, ate at a nice diner, and watched the sunset. He was perfect. He made me feel perfect. He made everything feel so perfect.
