Too Far Gone (Sequel to Louis Doesn't Have To Know)

(This is a SEQUEL, I strongly reccomend you read my first movella, Louis Doesn't Have To Know, otherwise you will be very lost whilst reading Too Far Gone)

Heartbreak. Sorrow. Regret. That's all Sophie feels anymore. Louis is filing for divorce and she can't do anything to stop it. But she made the mistakes right? She was the one who cheated after all, with his best friend and bandmate no less. She doesn't even know if her daughter is really Louis' or not. What does this mean for Louis and Liam's friendship? Will One Direction break up? Can Sophie convince Louis that she can change? CAN she change? Or is everything just...Too Far Gone?

(AGAIN, read the first book please. You won't regret it!)

8. Forgiveness

Super quick Author's Note: I had someone ask me on Twitter recently who I pictured Sophie as, and I see her as Ashley Benson (from Pretty Little Liars), if you couldn't already tell by the cover of the Movella. I also see her sister Ashton as Emma Stone :) Okay that's all, happy reading! And don't forget to like, favorite, and/or comment! xx

It had been a week since Liam had punched Louis and there had been no word from him. As far as everyone knew, Liam had gotten straight in his car and driven to his flat, where he hadn't been seen or heard from since.

No one was too terribly worried, they knew Liam would pull himself together. Louis had gotten all of his belongings moved back to his and Sophie's house, and they were just working on putting their marriage back together and forgiving all the mistakes of the past. Forgiving, but not forgetting.

Louis' mum had been more than happy to keep Lilly for another week or two while they got settled again, she adored her granddaughter after all. Everything was falling back into place, with the exception of Liam and Louis' obviously strained friendship. The only concern at the moment was the fate of the band.

Management had very quickly alerted the media that Louis and Sophie were back together, and Louis had been making sure to keep away from any cameras that could pick up on his black eye and busted lip that was still healing. When Louis explained to management that Liam had been the one to throw the first and only punch, they had immediately called a meeting that would follow a rehearsal that was being held that day. The rehearsal was for the VMAs being held in two weeks time.

Louis insisted that Sophie go with him to the rehearsal and meeting even though management said the meeting was mainly for the boys. Sophie told him it wasn't necessary, but he knew that she would feel better about the situation if she were there, not to mention that he would stay much more calm around Liam with Sophie around.

The car ride was quiet and tense as they both thought about what would happen when they had to be in the same room as Liam again, as well as the rest of the boys. Niall was also bringing Ashton, but Louis hadn't said anything so he could surprise Sophie.

They pulled up to the London venue and Louis exited first, jogging around to Sophie's side to open the door and offer his hand to help her out. She accepted it, smiling at the sweet gesture. As she stood up, Louis entertwined his fingers in hers and smiled.

"Let's go." He said.

Liam felt like shit. He had for the past week, since he very stupidly punched Louis in the face. He hadn't even been thinking about the consequences, and the potential danger his actions could pose to the band. All that had been going through his mind as his fist went flying into Louis' face was the fact that Louis had hurt Sophie. It was pure, blind rage. And now he was suffering the consequences.

All he had been doing for the past seven days was moping around his flat, playing the guitar a bit, watching television. He hadn't been surprised when management had called him and demanded a meeting with their VMA rehearsal.

So now as Liam parked outside the empty London arena, he cut off the ignition and rested his head back against the seat. He closed his eyes and took in a deep breath. 'I can do this.' He thought to himself.

With that, Liam exited the car, locked it, and began walking towards the back entrance. He stopped in his tracks and inhaled sharply though when he saw that Louis and Sophie were also walking towards the doors, but from the opposite direction. They hadn't spotted him yet, but judging from their equal distances from the door, all three of them were going to get there at the exact same time.

Liam was going to make a run for it but couldn't when Sophie looked up and spotted him. He could tell that her pretty complexion paled and Louis stutter stepped. Liam just took in a deep breath and kept on walking. Sophie and Louis did as well.

The trio reached the door simultaneously and all three of them stopped and looked at each other. Sophie quickly looked down to the ground though, and her sandy blonde hair slightly covered her face. She looked great, wearing skinny jeans, knee high black leather boots, a white blouse and a long red overcoat, complimented with the red beanie she wore over top of her wavy hair. Louis and Liam were both in blue jeans as well, Louis wearing a navy blue hoodie and a gray beanie, and Liam wearing a white tshirt with a light gray jacket. The air was tense for what seemed like eternity.

"Liam." Louis finally said, nodding in greeting at his bandmate. Liam saw Sophie squeeze his hand and look up at him with a meek smile. Liam inhaled sharply.

"Hey mate." He finally responded. "Hey Soph, how's it going?"

Sophie bit her bottom lip and finally turned to look at Liam. She smiled sheepishly and looked down at the ground for just a moment before flitting her eyes back up at him. "I'm doing good Liam." She paused for a moment. "And you?" She asked.

Liam chuckled humorlessly and scuffed his heel on the ground before looking at Louis. "I'm doing good, but uh...I think I'd be doing better if my best mate would forgive me."

Sophie gasped in shock and Louis raised an eyebrow at Liam, surprised as well. Neither of them had been expecting those words whatsoever. Sophie looked back and forth between the two men who would both forever have a piece of her heart. She squeezed Louis' hand again.

"Louis." She said quietly, encouraging him to say something.

Louis just cocked his head to the side and said, "Why should I forgive you Liam?"

Liam took in yet another deep breath and looked at Louis, seeing the red scab on his bottom lip and the fading purple marks under his eye.

"Because I've made a hell of a lot of mistakes Lou." Liam finally said. "And I overreacted before. I'm still angry about what I saw," His eyes flitted to Sophie's arm which was covered up by the sleeves of her coat, and she flinched. He looked back up at Louis before continuing, "But I don't know the whole story and I trust Sophie's judgement. So I apologize for hitting you. I-I also apologize for everything else I've done. You're one of my best mates Lou, and I never meant to hurt you even though I know I did. So I'm standing here, apologizing, and begging for your forgiveness. I'm also begging for my friend back."

Liam sighed after his soliloquy and Sophie's eyes glassed over with unshed tears. She looked up at Louis, who was staring at Liam intensely. He had every right to hate Liam, but his friend had just beared his soul in front of him and was now completely at his mercy. It was a tough situation.

Finally, Louis exhaled. "Fine." He said, and Sophie and Liam both got wide eyed in shock. "I accept your apology Liam. And I forgive you for punching me, I-I deserved it after all."

"Lou--" Sophie started to say softly, but he held up his hand for her to be quiet so he could continue.

"I did deserve, I hurt Sophie. But thankfully, she forgave me...just like I'm forgiving you." Liam exhaled in relief but Louis quickly began speaking again. "But," He said with emphasis, "This does not mean I forgive you for...everything else." Liam clenched his jaw shut, understanding that Louis was referring to his prior relationship with Sophie. Louis took in a breath. "At least not yet. It'll take some time."

It was very tense between the two for a moment and Sophie looked back and forth between them. Finally, Louis smiled a bit and stuck out his hand. "Friends?"

Liam chuckled and blinked slowly a few times before taking Louis' hand in his own and squeezing firmly. "Friends."

Sophie bit her bottom lip as she smiled and bounced on her toes a bit.

With that, the boys released hands and Liam opened the door for Louis and Sophie to enter. Louis walked in first, leading Sophie by the hand. As Sophie walked past Liam his smile faded to look of silent longing. They made eye contact and Sophie could see the sadness in his eyes. It was a certain kind of sadness though, one she hadn't seen in a long time.

The last time Sophie had seen that look had been three years ago, when she and Louis were dating and she had still been secretly seeing Liam...
