16. Love Him

*Addie’s POV*
“Um well she was pregnant but um we found out not last night but night before that she lost the baby….well actually I don’t know what happened that night. All I know is that I woke up and she was in the bathroom floor curled up in a ball crying because she was in so much pain….” I opened my eyes to Joe sitting in the little seat facing the bed. He was on the phone with I don’t know who. I rolled over, pulled up the blankets a little bit, and closed my eyes again. “I gotta go, she’s waking up now….ok I love you too…Bye” Joe crossed the bedroom and crawled back in the bed. He wrapped me in his arms and kissed the back of my head. I rolled over again to where my face was buried in his chest. “Good morning, my princess” he whispered.
“Good morning. What time is it?” I answered.
“It’s about 1 in the afternoon, babe.” I sat up really fast triggering a vertigo moment. “Easy there, speedy.” He laughed at me. He pulled me back down so I can lay on his chest. He rolled over and got on top of me. He leaned down and kissed me gently at first. Then I was hypnotized by everything about him. I didn’t want to break away. I wrapped my arms around his neck as our lips started to move faster and faster.
“mmm Joe,” I said between kisses “not now, dear.” But he kept going. I tried to pull away and he put his hand on my waist and the other on my neck. Joe rolled off of me and got up out of bed.
“Let’s get you something to eat” he said laughing.
“Are you not going to eat, love?” I asked in a confused manner.
“I already ate” he laughed again. I looked at him and stopped at the top of the stairs.
“grr” I said.
“Did you mean ‘meow?’” he laughed at me. I pouted. He picked me up and threw me over his shoulder.
“Joseph put me down!” I screamed playfully. I stopped fighting him and just hung there for the rest of the ride. Joe was laughing. “Can I please get down?” I asked him.
“When we get off the stairs.” He laughed. We got to the bottom of the stairs and he put me down and kissed me on the lips.
“Baby, are you feeling alright?” I asked him.
“I feel fantastic! I have my beautiful wife by my side!” he said joyfully. I gave him a hug and started walking towards the kitchen and I see that he has already made breakfast for me. He prepared grilled chicken, eggs, and tortillas and had them set out along with sour cream, cheese, salt and pepper. He put a bouquet of flowers on the kitchen table with a card. I looked at him with tears rolling down my face.
“Oh my goodness!” I exclaimed. “You did all this?” He nodded his head and came over and wrapped me in his arms.
“I saw how upset you were yesterday and night before last and I knew that I needed to do something to cheer you up” he smiled.
“Joe,” I paused, “this is amazing.” I walked over to the table and picked up the card.
To my beautiful wife,
I love you with all my heart. I hate to see you cry and upset so I thought I would do something to cheer you up.
With all my love,
Joe
“I love you” was all I could say. He kissed my forehead again.
“I love you too” I sat down and ate. Joe brought me a cup of milk and sat down to eat too.
“I thought you said that you already ate” I laughed.
“Nope. I was trying to get you downstairs.” He said laughing.
“Thank you.” I said looking at him.
“For what?”
“Everything.”
“As in?”
“For pulling me up on stage that night at the concert, being a wonderful friend, actually making me feel like family, marrying me, and all that jazz. You are just truly amazing.” He wrapped his arm around me as I laid my head on his shoulder.
“Well in that case, your welcome…and thank you for staying with me through tours and being completely honest with me.”  We finished our breakfast and put the left overs in a bowl to put in the fridge and to head up for later. “How about we both get dressed and we have a day our on the town and a date night?”
“I’d love that” I said with a smile. “Race you up!” I said halfway up the stairs.
“Cheater!” Joe yelled following me up. He caught up to me at the top of the stairs and spun me around. “Who won now?”
“Me!” I laughed trying to break free. He turned me around and pulled me closer.
“Excuse me?” he said with a grin on his face.
“You heard me, you cookie cutter pop star! I won! I beat you up the stairs!” By this time he was laughing so hard that his grip loosened on me and I was able to break free. I ran to the bedroom with Joe close behind me. He tackled me on to the bed and kissed me softly. “Hi” I said in a song singy tone.
“Well howdy ma’am.” He said in a fake country accent. I kissed him again and pushed him off of me. I went to the closet to find something to wear. I picked skinny jeans and a sparkly blue tank top with converse. I threw my hair up in a messy bun, brushed my teeth and my hair and found Joe who couldn’t decide on a shirt to wear. I picked up a blue v-neck t shirt for him. (It’s one that he couldn’t decide on). He pulled me in for a kiss. “Thank you, love.” He said sweetly.
“Babe?” I asked.
“Yeah?”
“Are you ok with all this? Like with what is going on right now…”
“I’m ok, I guess. I just wish that we didn’t have to go through the pain, but it’s what God planned for us. And there is nothing that is going to tear us apart.” He looked at me for a minute. I wrapped my arms around his waist and laid my head against his chest. He held me tightly. “I love you, you know that?”
“I love you too, Joe.” I looked up at him and he looked down at me and gently kissed my lips.
“Come on, let’s get out of the house for the week.”
“Wait, I’m not packed at all.” I protested.
“All taken care of, dear. I even grabbed your curling iron and straightening iron for you.” He kept his arm around my shoulders as we walked down the stairs. Joe moves his arm just for a second so he could get his keys. After the accident he had on the way to get his tux for the wedding, the insurance company deemed the car “Completely totaled.” So he got a Ford Edge as a family/road trip car.  Not that I am complaining about anything. I love it. It’s so roomy. Joe opened the car door for me to get in. “Ready?” he asked.
“Ready.” I said with a smile
