1. Just Haven't Met You Yet

"It seems like everyone around here is falling in love." I thought grumpily as I walked through the halls towards my class. I kept passing couples. Couples were everywhere. Walking down the halls together, holding hands, sneaking a kiss in the corner....It was getting on my nerves.

I never used to mind being a bachelor. It didn't seem like anything to be ashamed of. In fact, me and my close group of friends prided ourselves on it! We didn't want to be tied down. However, slowly but surely, they all found girlfriends. For me, the final straw came over the summer. My best friend, Cory, met a girl named Victoria and he was a goner from the moment he laid eyes on her. I was alone. Now, obviously, I was glad for Cory. Everyone deserved someone who made them happy. Victoria was great, and her and Cory worked really well together. But that didn't change the fact that I was now always a third wheel.

They were walking down the hall towards me, Cory with that gigantic grin on his face that always appeared when Victoria was around. His arm was around her waist and they seemed so- so natural, you know? I smiled and hugged them both.
"Hey guys. How's it going?"
They both spoke at once and then laughed softly to each other at their totaly adorable-ness (I hope you can detect the sarcasm) Cory pulled his girlfriend closer and then said,
"We're great."
Victoria leaned up and pecked Cory's cheek.
"I gotta go, babe. I need to pick up that foreign exchange student, remember?"
Cory nodded and Victoria rushed off. He smiled blissfully as she went and then turned back to me. Cory must have seen the look on my face, because he sighed and then said,
"She's out there, man. You've just gotta go meet her."
"It seems like I'll never meet her, Cory." I said doubtfully as we walked into our first period class, Biology.
How very wrong I was.
