31. Dress Shopping

***Two Months Later***

I pulled a green scarf over my head, letting it rest on my chest. I stepped out my bedroom door and walked towards the stairs leading down. I saw Johanna waiting by the door for me, smiling when she looked at my direction. “Are you ready?” She asked, I nodded. Johanna opened the door with me following her to the car. Johanna and I pulled up to a shop and got out of her car; I looked around and spotted a few of Johanna’s friends who were waiting by the entrance of the store.

“Hello ladies, how may I help you?”  The store clerk asked the entire group. “Um yes, I have a dress fitting for ‘Parker’.” Johanna spoke up, she isn’t even married to my dad yet but she uses Parker for her last name, ugh. “Fantastic, right this way, mam,” The lady spoke while she walked over to a sitting area. “Do you have any dress style or color in mind?” She asked after we were all seated. “Yes, I would like for the dress to be the white but have class and look elegant.” Johanna spoke, the lady nodded and walked to the back of the shop. She came back with a few dresses and motioned Johanna to a fitting room.

“I love that one; it looks so beautiful on you!” One of Johanna’s friends complimented on the wedding dress Johanna wore. “What do you think, Liz?” Johanna turned towards me waiting on my response. “I like it.” I said trying to act as calm as possible. She smiled and went to the lady who was helping us. “Great, now that we have the bride’s dress what about the bridesmaids?” The woman asked. “Yes, I want the bridesmaids’ dresses to be a silky red material.” Johanna said through the fitting room door.  Johanna came out with her outfit she came with and sat down next to me. “Thank you for coming.” She whispered in my ear. “How about these, Mrs. Parker?” The lady came back with a few dresses. “They look great, thank you Miss Kim.” She replies back. “Alright Liz, which one should we go with?” Johanna asked me. I looked at the six dresses, “I like this one.” I said pointing to a strapless red dress that looked to come to right above the knee. She smiled and got the right sizes for everyone else in the room to try on.

I walked into a small dressing room and began to undress. I slipped the red dress over my head and zipped it. I stepped out and heard some gasps from the seven people in front of me. “You are so gorgeous!” A lady told me. “Liz, you look stunning in that dress.” Johanna wrapped her arms around me.

The rest of the women tried on their dresses and we paid for them. Johanna waved ‘bye’ to her friends and we headed towards her car. “Thank you, Liz.” She thanked again. “You’re welcome.” I said sitting in the passenger seat and closed the door.
