Demonic Love

Violet and Audrey's parents died in a car crash a few months ago. This is their story.

12. New and Old friends

~~ Violet's P. O. V. ~~
I woke to the steady sound of the heart monitor, beeping in the distance. I could hear voices, but I couldn't quite make out what they were saying. I heard the click of a door, and looked up. Jace. Had he saved me?
"You're awake," his voice was full of relief. He looked genuinely happy to see me.
"Hey," I say, shakily. I try to sit up, but a wave of pain hits me, and I fall back onto the bed. Jace rushes over to me, and puts his hand on mine. His eyes were red and puffy, he had been crying? Suddenly, I remebered everything. The house, burning, and then crying and screaming for Audrey. Before I blacked out, I saw a glimpse of bright silver-white wings.
Gritting my teeth, I try and sit up again, more successful this time.
"Is she... Is Audrey..." I couldn't bring myself to finish the sentence, but Jace understood me. He nodded, slightly. I remember screaming and crying, but it didn't feel like I was there. Now Audrey has left, it feels like she has taken a part of me with her.

~~ Jace's P. O. V. ~~
After a few minutes of crying and screaming, Violet slightly calmed, and now she was just sitting there, staring out the window. She looked so... Numb. Broken. Dead. I wonder what would have happened if I didn't follow her. If I hadn't been there, would she still be alive? I don't want to think of the possibilities. I start crying silently.
"Jace?" Raven said, poking my arm for the fifth time. I was lost in thought.
"Yeah?" I mumble.
"What's wrong. You've been acting like this since Violet left."
"I'm just thinking."
"You're worried, aren't you. Don't lie to me, Jace."
I chuckle, slightly. Raven can read me like an open book.
"Well, go find her."
"Okay," I chuckle, getting up, and running after her. Ever since she left, I had a feeling something was going to go wrong.
She had given me her address before, so I made my way to her house, or, what was left of it. The roof had just about collapsed in. I heard someone yelling inside.
Violet! Where are you?!" But there was no reply.
I ran inside, only to be met by smoke and ash, clouding my view, and blocking my airways. I ran through the house, and I saw Violet standing there, crying. She stumbled slightly, and started falling. I ran to her, and caught her, just as she fell. I carried her through the hole where the roof once was, flying of course.
*End of flashback*

"Jace?" Violet put her hand on my arm, and gave me a small smile.
"Yeah?" I asked, staring back in Violet's blue orbs.
"Someone knocked on the door, and I can't exactly get up." I smile back, and walk over to the door. I open it to find a boy, around our age, with short brown hair, in a beanie, and green eyes, looking worried.
"Is Violet Heathy in this room?" He asked, shakily.
"Yeah, why do you care?" I questioned, raising an eyebrow.
"Well, I've just come back into town, and I heard what happened last night. I just wanted to she if she was okay. It's been years since I last saw her, but, we kept in touch." I gave him another questionable look, but let him in anyway.
"Logie bear!"
'Logie bear' rushed over to Violet, and hugged her gentley. I guess his story was true. I can't help but feel a pang of jealousy, that she had a nickname for him, and he had one for her. And they had history together. Violet and I practically just met.
"I heard about Drey... I'm so sorry, Vi. If I had come to visit you guys earlier, this could have been prevented. It's my fault." He mumbled into her hair. "I'm just glad you're okay."
I couldn't believe he was doing this. He hasn't seen her in years, and now he was acting as if he saved her.
We spent the rest of the afternoon talking, and Violet and Logan were just catching up with everything they missed about each other.
