6. Kisses, Carelessness And Close Calls

I tried my best to scream, but the sweaty hand just clamped over my mouth even harder. I was lifted up over what I’m assuming was someone’s shoulder. I began to pound on the person’s back. How the heck did someone get into my hotel room anyway? I was thrown in what sounded like a car. I started feeling around until I felt what seemed like someone’s leg. I heard a giggle and quickly pulled away. Then suddenly, I punched down really hard on the place that I had felt a moment ago,

“Owe!” I heard someone’s voice shout out. I grinned to myself. It wasn’t long till I heard the car come to a stop and multiple doors open. I felt someone take my hand and lead me out of the car.

What the heck is going on?

My blindfold was ripped off and I was hit by the blinding light of an unfamiliar restaurant. Five boys stood in front of me named Niall, Harry, Zayn, Liam, and Louis. They were all laughing so hard.

                “Welcome to Nandos!” Niall exclaimed.

“I hate you all,” I said, sitting down at a table.

“It’s the first show prank!” Louis said, with a goofy smile, “We went pretty easy on you.”

“And you punched my leg!” Harry said, rubbing it. All the boys started cracking up again.

“Sorry,” I mumbled, “What time is it?”

“Four in the morning,” Zayn said, checking his phone.

“You realize we have to be up in three hours to fly to Ireland?” I asked as the boys shrugged.

“You get used to having no sleep,” Liam stated.

I walked over to Niall, grabbed the blindfold, tied it back around my face and held out my arms, “Take me home,” I demanded with as much of a straight face as I could manage. Uhh yes. My boy band references still never get old.

“We’re eating first,” I heard Niall’s Irish accent say as it got further away. I ripped the blindfold back off and signed.

“I guess I could eat something,” I said to myself, as I listened to my stomach growling

A bunch of us were eating lunch at the stadium we were playing at in Ireland when I heard a sudden shout, “Niall!” we all turned to see two middle aged men, a middle aged woman, a young man that looked to be in his late twenties and a girl who seemed to be a few years older than me… though I wasn’t sure with how much make up she was wearing. I tried to smile as I watched the young girl jump up to hug Niall. Her hand grasped the back of his neck as she gave him a kiss on the cheek. My gaze instantly hit the ground.

He turned to me and said, “This is my mum and dad and my step dad, Chris. This is my brother Greg and this is one of my best mates, Annie. She smiled as she slid her hand around his waist like a snake.

I got up as quick as I could, “I have something I need to take care of. It was so nice meeting all of you,” I said, smiling at his parents.

“Are you the new pianist?” his mother asked as I twirled around.

“Yea!” I said, trying to sound bright.

“Niall was telling me about how excited he was that they found you for the tour. They were really worried they wouldn’t have a pianist, let alone someone of your talent,” she said, offering a smile.

I looked from her to Niall, flattered. Oddly his cheeks were flushed as well. “Well thank you. That really means a lot.”

“Can you sing as well?” she asked, intently. That one was a new question for me. Everyone had just labeled me as the piano girl. No one really cared if I could sing, my job was to play piano.

I hesitated, “I’d like to think so.”

“She can sing,” Harry said leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms, as if he had already been front row to my very own concert.

“How would you know?” I asked, almost laughing.

“You think that just because you close the door to your rehearsal room doesn’t mean that we can’t hear you when we walk by,” Harry said, smirking up at me. I felt myself blushing.

“Well, I really have to take care of some things. Again it was lovely meeting you,” I said, as I turned and walked away as fast as I could.

I sighed as I slumped down in a chair in my in my dressing room. I knew it was too good to be true…Niall that is. I thought that maybe he liked me, just for me, but I was obviously delusional. Even though I tried to convince myself otherwise, Annie was one of the prettiest girls I’ve seen. I looked up when I heard a knock on the door. I spun around to see Harry slowly opening the door.

“Are you okay?” he asked, slowly closing the door behind him.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” I said, rubbing my eye, “I’m just really tired.”

“Which is girl for no I’m not okay at all,” Harry said, sitting down next to me. “She’s not that pretty you know,” he said, his complex green eyes, looking into mine.

“We both know that’s not true,” I said.

“Well she’s not as pretty as you,” he said, leaning in as if he was going to kiss me. I pushed myself away until he fell out of his chair and flat on his face.

“What the heck was that!” I screamed at him, “Louis!” I screamed even louder. Soon Louis came rushing through the door.

“What’s going on?” he asked with confusion as he stared at Harry who was still sprawled out on the floor.

“You have a girlfriend, right?” I asked.

“Yeah,” he said, a little unsure.

“Then teach your best friend how to treat a girl,” I said, storming out of my dressing room.

“What did you do?” I heard Louis ask as he helped his friend off the floor.

“I just went in to kiss her… and she ducked or something,” he said, awkwardly.

“I’m sorry mate, but you had that coming,” Louis said between giggles. “She’s not like the other girls, you know. She’s like our baby sister, she’s too innocent... especially for you.”

I rolled my eyes as I walked back down the hall. Innocent? Really? He has no idea what I had been through.

“Have you seen the boys?” a back stage worker asked me franticly, interrupting my thoughts.

“Nope…Stan,” I said, squinting at Stan’s name tag, “I haven’t seen Zayn, Niall and Liam. But Harry and Louis are in my dressing room,” I said, pointing over my shoulder.

“Well they should’ve been at their sound check five minutes ago,” he said, running his hand through his short hair. I looked up at him thinking that Harry must be rubbing off on him.

“Well, I’ll go find them and then head to the stage,” I said, walking past Stan. I sighed as I peered into each room. It was only the second night and the drama had already began. By the time I reached Niall’s dressing room, I pushed it open and was paralyzed by what I saw. There Niall stood about an inch away from kissing Annie. I stood there with my mouth half open. As soon as Niall saw me he jumped about three feet backwards. “Umm, sound check started five minutes ago. Everyone is looking for you,” I said, looking down.

“Right,” he said, scratching the back of his neck, “I’ll be there in a sec.”

I turned around, breathing in really quickly to keep tears from falling.

Why was I so hurt, if she was his?

I started running back down the hall until I ran right into someone’s hard chest. I slowly felt two strong arms wrap around me. I hadn’t realized that I had tears streaming down my face. I looked up to see Harry with his lips resting against my forehead.

                “It’s okay,” he whispered.
