On The Outskirts Of The Gang

Rosa is a pretty, self-conscious girl who wants to be cool. She's a bit afraid of Jessica, the most popular person in the entire year. As she clings on at the edge of Jessica's gang, she notices things that slowly make her realise that there is something odd going on...

10. Wednesday 1st October

I'd totally got the wrong end of the stick. Today, Jessica came over to me (on her own!) and explained what happened with Megan. The gang had just been trying to talk to her about whether she wanted to rejoin them - long story - and 'the poor girl' tripped backwards over a stool. No-one had been angry at her, they were seething because the Science teacher had wrongly given them detention. 'Silly Meg' had been scared that she'd done something wrong, but it had all been explained to her so they were friends again. Jessica said she didn't want me to be confused, which was why she was telling me. Its all fine!

To say that I'm relieved would be putting it mildly. It had been very hard for me to hate the gang after they'd been so kind to me.  Katya especially had been great, so inclusive and helpful.

I told that to Jessica, pretty much, and she said it would be cool if I could start hanging around with them more! Of course, I agreed. Now I would have people to talk to about music and fashion again, which I'd been missing out on for the last couple of days. Yay!

My dream of being in the gang is returning, and I can't describe how pleased I am to know that I am so close!

During P.E., me and Imogen were chatting whilst we were waiting to bat (it was rounders). She was asking me to audition with her for the school show that was coming up. It's Annie, and she wants to get a strong supporting role; Jessica will obviously win the lead. At the tryouts, you perform a short scripted piece with a partner. Felicity and Jessica were obviously going together, and Katya had 'bagged' Hattie. Certain that my poor acting would let Imogen down, I attempted to persuade her to try Megan.

"What? Megan?" she exclaimed. There was a pause. "OH! No, no, she... doesn't like Drama." That was true, so I had no choice but to give in.

"Fine, I'll do it with you! Don't blame me if I mess it up!"

Secretly, I was quite glad that I was doing it with her. It would be fun to be in a show, and I wouldn't have had the confidence to say yes if it had been anyone but a gang member who had asked me. They are all fabulous! (Have I said that before?)

The auditions are on Friday. It surprises me how excited I am!
