1. Introduction

Most people think that the life of Harry Grant is perfect. He’s the captain of the baseball team that won 1st place in the state, he’s most likely to graduate at the top of his class, he’s dating the hottest girl in the school, and he was accepted into Harvard on a full scholarship. That boy is me, but my life isn’t nearly as perfect as people think it should be. I’ve had to move so many times and with most of the times, I never get told a reason. My mom died when I was 5 and I’m 16 now. My dad always told me she had died in her sleep, but every time I bring the topic up I can always see a flicker of unease and nervousness flash across his eyes that confuses me. It happens so fast that sometimes I think I’ve imagined it. My dad was the only family I had left. It felt like most of my time was spent going to funerals; it was like my family had been cursed or something. But now, since everything is such a blur to me, I’m starting to believe it.

Ever since I was young, I’ve had to move from place to place without a notice or reason. Could it have been a coincidence that they were all more than hundreds of miles apart? I’ve practically been all over the world from California to Australia. Right now I live in Bradford, London and have been for 2 years; the longest I’ve been in one place at a time. Sometimes I feel like I’ve been here too long.
