2. Left Behind.

Leaving B's room was a silent trip I'd take almost every day. Later in the night, spending most of my days, composing the murderous rogue. No one but me and Watari knew of BB's habit. Well, Near was in on it too. It was my job to protect him, keep him normal. He only ever trusted me. I knew that B wouldn't sleep, he never does. He's just like him. I sighed and flipped my hair back. I limped slightly on my bruised leg, but withstood the pain for showings sake. I walked in normally to our room, Near completing his white jigsaw. Though, it was cheating a little. Since a black L sat in the left hand corner. He placed the last piece as I slumped beside him.

"How did it go?" He asked nonchalantly. I let out a long sigh and smiled at him.

"Same as always." He nodded and twirled once of my escaping hairs. It's long black strand was supposed to be flipped back. It was slightly awkward, with Near so used to short hair, but it still felt homely when he did it. Though Near was also like a mirror image to him in his personality... He had his moments. I rested my head on his shoulder and listened to his paced breathing, trying to contain mine.

"Do you..."

"Yes?" Near looked at me, but I shouldn't have let my thoughts speak aloud.

"No, no it's nothing." I stared at the photo from Near's bed. I felt my lips pouring slightly. It felt so obvious to me, but I guess it wasn't, as Near never mentioned it.

"Tell me. Did he threaten you again?" He thought I was on about BB. Great.

"It's not him it's..."

"What." His voice made him seem as though he wasn't interested, but his consistent pestering made it clear.

"Do you think... He ever wonders about us...? Think he ever cares that he left us behind?" Near tipped the puzzle up side down and let the pieces fall from the board. I waited over the clatter of the pieces.

"He never left us behind. He simply made us his backup." Near started the puzzle again. "BB doesn't like being backup, does he?" Near looked me in the eyes.

"No. But then again..." I shook it off.

"Say it." His voice was always so forceful.

"I don't particularly like it either..." I looked down, ashamed. I was grateful. Truly grateful, for everything Watari had set up for us here. Made us up to become. So I hated it when I had these selfish moments. But it's not human right? To want more.. Near sighed.

"Don't ever become like him." I rolled my eyes.

"I highly doubt ill become a murderer." I said it jokingly, but the reality of it hit hard. Beyond was a murderer. He had killed innocent people to relinquish his thirst for blood, for death, for destruction. It had all started after he left. After he discarded him and left him behind. After he left him to become his backup. I crawled away and lay on my own bed. The ceiling seemed so interesting as of now.

I heard Near leave the room, and I let my troubles release. I blinked away tears.

"Why did you do it... Why were you so perfect... L?"
