8. Bad Liar.

headed out, the air of late evening chilly, and cold. My breath like smoke before me. I pulled my jacket around me tighter and stereotypically caught a taxi.

"To the underground station please." I still hadn't gotten used to L.A and had only glanced at the location of this murder. The taxi driver laughed.

"Which one sweet cheeks?" I stuttered.

"The one closest to here." At least that's what I got from the report.

"The murder scene? Police'll swamp me love." That really annoyed me.

"Look, mate, I'm a detective. I need to get there ASAP, get me there in 5 minutes and ill pay you double." He didn't even question it, he simply drove, as fast as he dares to the station.

The driver reached my location a 57 seconds past the 5 minute marker, but I payed him the cash anyway. I shut the door and flashed my badge at a stiff looking officer. He nodded and allowed me to dip under the tape line. I came to the body and found the same cuts. And a few clues. Nevertheless another murder would take place... Maybe these items left a clue to the next... My blissful thinking was interrupted when the police man came stumbling down. He had his head hung and seemed to be dragging his feet.

"Officer?" I called out and began to head towards him, when he fell to the floor, a knife in his back.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't my sweet little angel. What brings you here beautiful?" Beyond stepped over the mans body and snatched the bloody knife as he did so. I stepped back, but couldn't help but smile slightly at seeing the man again. The guy who reminded me so much of L. He chuckled darkly at my face. "Happy to see me?" He clutched my face. Too close for comfort, but the words stuck in my throat.

"I-I..." I couldn't breathe as he slipped a hand round my waist. It felt cold, like a slithering snake had taken me as its prey. He tightened, pulling me closer to him. "You've changed B..." He smiled. It was a creepy smile.

"I'm not a boy no more my dear. Come, join me. But wait, what is this? Your working for L?" He contradicted himself on purpose, knowing already of L's presence.

"He'll catch you. Then what will you do?" I stared into his eyes, glowing brighter than ever at the taste of fresh blood. He reminded me of a vampire.

"Catch me? Impossible. I've already thought too far ahead for it to be even relatively possible." He tugged on my waist again. My face growing ever closer to his. I tried to look away but he held me there. "Does he treat you well? Keep you warm? Fed?... Loved?" I gasped.

"What should I matter to you?" I frowned. He knew I liked L, knew because I'd told him, confined everything in him.

"I don't want some creep to be treating my angel badly now do I?" He smiled. And leaned in closer to me. I could smell the blood on both his skin and his clothes. I tried to step away, but he held on tight. And then, just like that, his rough lips hit mine. I pleaded against them as he kissed me. Pushed with all my strength. But Beyond was stronger. He finally released me and I stumbled back, my body fell to the floor. Next to the corpse. I shied away, and he laughed.

"I've waited so long for that." His eyes darkened and his hair covered them as he walked back onto the train lines. Just as a train came, he jumped into the darkness. I ran to the edge. Feeling the speed of the train whip at my hair. I searched as the train sped away. No BB. He had disappeared. But he'd be back.

I trembled as I headed back to the apartment. My lips, I daren't touch. His rough kiss had shaken me. And that as his intentions. To try and knock me off the case. I pulled myself together as i knocked on the door, once, twice and then entered. L was waiting for me. His legs pulled to his chest as usual. I smiled weakly and sat on the opposite sofa. I removed my jacket and flipped my hair back. It felt all windswept, from the speeding train.

"What happened to you?" L asked, in a light hearted tone. I smiled up at him as I pulled through a knot in my hair.

"Nothing, weathers unbelievable." I looked away, fearful of his knowing gaze.

"But it's not windy outside." He looked at my seriously. "Did you meet someone?" He probed. I shook my head.

" I told you Leoni, you shouldn't lie, it's not very becoming of you."
