Winner of the Crossover Competition! *_* I decided to combine two of my favourite fandoms - Harry Potter and Hunger Games to come up with - The Hogwarts Games! I've tried to pick up the story of Harry Potter from where JKR left it, so the main characters are the new generation of Potters and Weasleys. It's set in Hogwarts and I've incorporated the concept of the Games in here. I've really worked hard on this, so I hope you like it :)

12. Chapter Twelve

Albus and James found out soon enough what had gone wrong with Rose during her test. They were all assembled in the Great Hall for dinner. A huge magical screen was suspended before them that would be displaying the scores of all the tributes here and in all wizard homes. Rose kept talking about how the Gamemakers had been annoyed with her for not doing anything but ramble on about the information she had gathered from her books on dueling skills. They had told her to do something else and like an idiot she had chosen to show them her flying skills. Understandably, it had gone horrible wrong.

When they started displaying the scores, they found out that Rose had still managed a seven out of twelve which was better than what she had been expecting. Ariana scored a twelve, which was like a blow in Albus’ face but a cause to cheer and applaud loudly for the rest of the Gryffindor table. Ariana could even be seen smiling a little bit. Here she was, getting all the attention she craved for. She wasn’t a nobody anymore. People would be betting on her. Sponsors would start noticing her. Albus knew for sure his competition had been doubled.

James got a nine, which was reason enough to be celebrating as he had shown them his skills with non-verbal spells that he had become so good at but as soon as Albus’ score was displayed, everyone was shocked. He had managed an eleven. Wow, an eleven? It was more than what he had been counting for. Who knew just by making friends with a wild hippogriff and lecturing the Gamemakers on the magical properties of plants could earn someone eleven? Maybe they had been in a good mood after all.

He turned out to have been very wrong. All other tributes had scored very badly. Scorpius Malfoy scraped a three. Natalie and Nathan with their amazing skills could only gather eight meager points each. Ace Scamander had four. Jill Fetzer, who had been quite okay at training and brilliant with her flying skills, just got one point. The little Grace Charms managed a five and looked quite pleased. Rufus Grey and Gary Matthew both scored two. Samantha Rofhul, the other Slytherin tribute, whom Albus knew to have been exceptionally talented with the Imperius Curse, scored only a three.

None of this was right.

And then he realised what was happening. All the other tributes had gone into their test with their infernal headaches. Only the three of them from Gryffindor had been lucky enough to have those berries and only Ariana seemed to have had the willpower to go on and perform well in the test despite her pounding head. The rest of them had probably been hacked because of these stupid aftereffects of the charm. And suddenly, he realised exactly why Hagrid had told him not to give those berries to anyone else. Albus, James and Rose had been given an unfair advantage over all others. With a sickening feeling, he understood what Trevelyan’s plan had been all the while. With these mixed scores, people were going to be confused. The ones they thought were good would appear to have been horrible all along. The ones the sponsors had been counting on would appear to have failed them drastically. But more importantly, now the tributes had no idea whom to fear and whom to count as dead meat. In just one night, Trevelyan had shuffled all that they thought they had known about their competition.

These Games were surely going to be very interesting for the audience.
