Winner of the Crossover Competition! *_* I decided to combine two of my favourite fandoms - Harry Potter and Hunger Games to come up with - The Hogwarts Games! I've tried to pick up the story of Harry Potter from where JKR left it, so the main characters are the new generation of Potters and Weasleys. It's set in Hogwarts and I've incorporated the concept of the Games in here. I've really worked hard on this, so I hope you like it :)

34. Chapter Thirty-Four

Albus had never thought it would happen so fast.

The relating of his plan, the accepting of it, the assembling of all Order members, the consent to let their kids fight, the arrangement of enough broomsticks, the flight to the Hogwarts castle…all of it happened so quickly that it was unnerving. But Albus couldn’t help but feel satisfied. They were finally doing something. They were finally going to battle it out and by the end of it, they were going to have a solution.

There were definitely over fifty witches and wizards, ranging from thirteen to fifty years of age, shooting towards the same direction in the velvety night sky, all wearing similar expressions of determination on their faces. Albus had watched the proceedings of this secret society to overthrow Trevelyan and his corrupt Ministry over the past three years and he knew they had all been waiting for this day. All of them looked perfectly drunk with adrenaline on finally being able to spark the uprising. And each one of them looked like they were not going to come back without making it happen.

The army barged through the huge oak front doors of the castle into the Great Hall which was full with everybody assembled for dinner. They had planned it to be timed when the Hall was full. All heads turned to look at the intruders. Trevelyan’s devilish little eyes went wide for a moment on seeing so many armed witches and wizards walk into his reign wearing some serious poisonous looks on their faces, Harry and Albus in the lead.

“What in Merlin’s name is happening?” his deep voice resonated off the walls of the Great Hall which had just gone dead silent.

“We’re here to fight you,” announced Albus. He didn’t know what took him over, but suddenly, with his wand pointed at the loathsome face of Yann Trevelyan and a whole army of witches and wizards behind him doing the same, he felt a lot more confident than before. “We’re here to fight the Hogwarts Games.”

Collective gasps spread across the four house tables. Albus could see Lily and Hugo’s small faces peeking out from the crowd at the Gryffindor table, anxious to see what was going on. There was mainly confusion, but in the midst of that, he could see that most of the young faces of the Hogwarts students looked hopeful – hopeful that these intruders were here to put an end to their misery; hopeful that something was going to be done about the cruelty of the Games at long last.

Trevelyan left the table and strode to the front briskly, fuming. His eyes were furious and Albus even thought he could see smoke billowing from his tiny ears. For a man of his size, this was quite a funny sight but Albus could see he was completely infuriated. A slight provocation and he could have exploded.

“What,” he said ever so slowly but dangerously, “do you think you are doing?”

“We’re getting Hogwarts back,” said Albus. “And we’re not leaving until that happens.”

Albus could have sworn Trevelyan’s face switched about fifteen colours in half a minute.

“This is bad judgment, people,” he addressed the Order members. “I advise you to retreat before it is too late and we are forced to make you see your own bloody deaths.”

“Nobody dies tonight,” said Albus. “Nobody but you.”

That was the last straw for Trevelyan. “School!” he cried. “Defend yourself.”

Whatever Trevelyan had expected would happen, it didn’t. The confusion at the house tables was gone now only to be replaced by a sense of uncertainty. How were they supposed to react? Even the staff table wore funny expressions, like they weren’t sure whose side to pick. A few of them cowered on one nasty look from Trevelyan and scrambled over to join his side, wands held high. Within a few more minutes, half of the Slytherin table and some other scared students from other houses succumbed to Trevelyan’s powerful gaze and hurried to join him. But then, something very unexpected happened.

Most of the Gryffindors, the Ravenclaws, the Hufflepuffs and even some of the Slytherins nervously stood up, walked over, crossed the Hall and merged with the other Order members. Slowly, very slowly, but with growing confidence, each and every one of those brave students lifted their wands to point straight at Trevelyan’s pig-like face.

Albus couldn’t wipe the smirk off his face.

“Liking the odds much, Headmaster?”
