Breaking Free

Ever felt smothered by everyone else's idea of what your life should be like? Have you ever just wanted to say "Stop! It's my life!" to those closest to you? We all have, haven't we? I bet you were too afraid to do it though. So you kept your mouth shut, and did exactly what you always told yourself you would never do: you followed the rules set by people who don't really know you, and let THEM control your life. But what could happen if you finally just said no? If you decided to follow your own dream? Would something amazing happen? Would you fall in love? Would you find what you've been looking for your whole life? What could happen if you just...broke free?

47. The First Step is Admittance

As Belle and Louis continued their heated make out session on the piano bench, Belle couldn't get one thought out of her mind, no matter how badly she wanted to solely focus on Louis.

No matter how much she wanted to forget what happened eight months ago, she couldn't just set aside the fact that Niall had kissed her when she left, just minutes after she had broken things off with Louis. That was something that he deserved to know.

"Louis wait." Belle murmured against his hot mouth, still on hers.

Louis shook his head and continued to kiss Belle. "No." He mumbled. "I've waited eight months to do this, whatever it is can be saved for later."

With that being said, Louis laid Belle back on the bench, hovering his body over hers. Belle wanted to pull away, but Louis' kisses were just so intoxicating. She fisted her hand in the hair at the base of Louis' neck and lightly tugged, making Louis kiss her even harder, moaning into her mouth. He placed his right hand at the hem of her shirt, slowly making contact with the skin underneath. Belle shuddered at the touch of his calloused fingertips on her soft skin. She was slowly losing control.

"Louis, please." Belle gasped, forcing herself to break off the kiss. Louis didn't pull away though, rather just moved his lips across her jawline and to her neck, sucking on her most sensitive spot, making Belle arch her back and connect their chests. Louis shuddered as Belle's breasts pressed up against him.

"Louis I tell you something..." Belle said in between heavy breaths, Louis' lips on her neck making her lose her senses.

"Go ahead." Louis said cockily in between love bites that were surely marking her skin.

A few silent seconds passed, Belle craning her neck to give Louis more access, reveling in the way he was making her feel. The only sound in the big room was their heavy breathing. Belle had forgotten how much physical chemistry they had, and she had gone eight months too long without his touch.

But she had to tell him about kissing Niall. Well, Niall kissing her.

"Louis, stop." Belle said firmly, determined to do the right thing by Louis.

Louis pulled back and looked at Belle with a confused expression, his dark, lustful eyes returning to their normal color.

"Please, I have to tell you something." Belle said with a softer tone, reaching up and placing a hand on Louis' cheek. His eyes fluttered closed and he leaned into her hand for just a second before taking in a deep breath and nodding. He pulled himself back into a sitting position, helping Belle up as well. She was flustered from their makeout session, but she quickly composed herself. She took in a few deep breaths to think over how she was going to approach this issue.

"Babe what is it? I'm sorry if I pushed things too far before, I just sorta lose my head when I'm with you." Louis said thoughtfully, reaching over and intertwining their fingers, just like old times.

Belle instantly relaxed at the contact, the familiarity of it overwhelming. She smiled to herself and lazily turned to look at Louis.

"No it's not that, trust me I didn't want to stop either." Belle admitted, her cheeks flushing bright red. Louis chuckled. "I just...I feel like I need to tell you something before we move forward or anything like that. It's something that happened the day I left."

A flash of pain swept over Louis' perfect features at the mention of that fateful day so long ago and Belle cringed.

"What happened?" Louis asked softly.

"First you have to promise me that you won't get mad about this. Well, you can be mad at me because you have the right to be, but you can't be mad at...anyone else, okay?" Belle asked firmly.

"Oh...kay? I promise I s'pose." Louis said, very confused. Belle took in another breath.

"Okay so, after I left your hotel room that day, saying I was going to pack up my stuff and go home, I ran back to my room. But I had left my room key back with you guys."

"Yeah I remember that." Louis nodded. "Niall took it to you because the boys wouldn't let me go after you."

This time Belle was the one who cringed in pain at the memory. Now she finally understood all the screaming and yelling she had heard in Louis' room that night when she left; the boys and Paul weren't letting Louis chase after her.

"Yeah, Niall brought it to me." Belle finally said. "He, uh, he let me in my room and while I was packing he kept trying to make me stay. He kept telling me that...that I was breaking your heart, and nothing would ever be the same for you boys, and...and..." Belle started to cry at the painful memories, and Louis wrapped his arms around her shaking frame, resting his chin on top of her head and rubbing her back.

"Shh, shh, it's okay." He said soothingly. Belle shook her head.

"No it's not." Belle said through tears, leaning back to look up at Louis. "It's not okay at all Louis. He begged me to stay and I told him no over and over again and then he...he..."

"He what?" Louis asked, his eyes full of concern and worry. "What happened Belle? What aren't you telling me?"

Belle exhaled shakily, looking away from Louis' eyes, ashamed. She opened her mouth to speak but no words came out.

"I kissed her." A voice suddenly said.

Belle and Louis both snapped their heads to the doorway where Niall was standing, a serious expression plastered on his face.

"Niall? How did you get in h--"

"You WHAT?" Louis interrupted Belle, glancing at her for a split second before abruptly standing up, almost making Belle fall off the bench, and walking towards his friend and bandmate. "The hell did you just say Niall? Tell me you're joking."

Niall shook his head, his face stoic. "No Louis. I'm not."

"Niall how did you get in here?" Belle asked from the piano bench where she was too stunned to move. Niall looked past Louis' shoulder and smiled at her.

"The front door was unlocked and Kaylie said you'd been hiding out in here for the past week, working on songs and stuff. Thought I'd stop by and see if I could help out." He glanced back at Louis, who was still fuming. "But it looks like you've got all the help you need right now."

"Why the hell did you kiss my girlfriend?" Louis spat, not even bothering to comment on what Niall had just said.

"Louis you promised you wouldn't be mad!" Belle cried out.

Louis barked out a bitter laugh and turned to face Belle. "Well I didn't exactly expect you to drop the bomb on me and say that you snogged my best mate!"

"Oh shut up Louis, that's not what happened at all." Niall said dryly, rolling his eyes. He didn't seem bothered by the situation in the slightest. In fact, he was very nonchalant about everything.

"Well then someone explain to me what happened please!" Louis exclaimed, throwing his hands up in the air and looking back and forth between Belle and Niall.

Niall shrugged his shoulders. "Fine. I went to Belle's room to try and get her to stay, and I realized that no matter what I said she was going to leave no matter what. So I thought to myself 'what the hell?' and I kissed her. It was only for a second, and she didn't even kiss me back."

"Why did you want to kiss her in the first place?" Louis asked menacingly.

Niall chuckled. "Louis you're so fucking blind. Belle is perfect, you know I liked her the moment she auditioned for us in New York City. I was friendzoned though, which sucked, but I got over it because you're my mate. I dunno though, when she was leaving that night I figured you guys were done for good and we would never see her again, so I just went for it. Had to get it out of my system y'know?"

Belle's jaw dropped from where she was sitting, Louis and Niall not paying her hardly any attention at this point. Niall had liked her for that long? Did he like her now? What was it that Kaylie had said to her last week?

'...that guy is so smitten with you...'

Could Niall possibly still like Belle as more than a friend?

"Well?" Louis suddenly asked Niall, his voice dripping with venom. Belle snapped her head back up, coming out of her thoughts. "Did you? Get it out of your system, I mean?"

Niall looked at Louis for a moment, then past him at Belle. The corner of his mouth twitched upwards in a sad smile. Oh no. Belle could read Niall like a book and she knew what was going to happen next.

Belle's mouth opened to try and stop his next words, but she was too late.

"No." Niall said sadly, looking back at Louis. "I didn't."

With that, Niall turned and walked out of the room, the front door slamming as he left Kaylie's house without another word.
