53. Nice Start, Right?

The ride from Louis' house to Kaylie's house was about ten minutes, and for the first five minutes of the drive, Harry and Kaylie were completely silent. Neither of them said a word. Harry kept tightening his grip on the steering wheel, staring out the windshield with his jaw clenched, and Kaylie went from looking out the passenger window with her arms crossed to pretending to text on her phone.

After those five minutes or so, Harry finally couldn't take it anymore. "What, so you can text everyone else just not me?" He asked with an attitude, glancing at Kaylie for a quick second and nodding at her phone before looking back at the road.

Kaylie snapped her head up, surprised he had spoken. Then his words sunk in and she shrunk back in her seat, locking her phone and setting it in her lap. "I wasn't texting anyone, I was looking around on Twitter." She mumbled.

"You know what I mean Kaylie." Harry said with a sigh. "I don't understand, why'd you stop talking to me?"

Kaylie shook her head. "It's complicated Harry, I--"

"Oh bullshit." Harry interrupted. shaking his head as he looked out the front windshield. "Nothing can be so complicated that you just stop talking to me. We were getting on really well, I was so glad to have someone new in my life. You called me out on my bullshit, you didn't try to impress me, and you saw me as Harry, not Harry Styles from One Direction. I loved that."

Kaylie tucked a strand of hair behind her ear as she blushed. "I do see you that way." She mumbled quietly.

"Then what did I do?" Harry asked exasperatedly, hitting his hand on the steering wheel. "Tell me what I did wrong!" He asked, pulling up to a red light.

Harry turned to face Kaylie as the car stopped, and she forced herself to look at him too. His eyes were wide with hurt and confusion, and his curly hair was falling slightly in front of his face. "Just tell me what I did wrong, and I'll fix it." He said softly.

Kaylie's heart ached, her mouth parting as she stared at Harry's perfectly sculpted face. She had such strong feelings for him, she had never felt this way about anyone before. Not even her ex boyfriend Bryce, whom she had almost been engaged to. Her mouth opened but no words came out.

Harry sighed and looked down, shaking his head as the light turned green. "Oh nevermind." He muttered, gassing the car again and continuing down the road that led to Kaylie's house.

Kaylie sighed and closed her eyes, mad at herself for not being able to just say how she felt. Belle had told her that telling him would be a good thing, that Harry wouldn't be mad at her, or kick her to the curb. So why couldn't she just spit out the words?

"You know, I'm so sick and tired of this." Harry suddenly said, his knuckles turning white on the steering wheel. Kaylie looked back up at him.

"What--"

"I don't know what it is." Harry continued. "Somehow I always manage to push away every single person that matters. I don't get it, I try to do everything right, yet I always fuck it up."

"Harry that's not true." Kaylie said.

"Yes it is!" Harry shouted, pulling into Kaylie's driveway, turning off the engine and parking. He leaned back in his seat and sighed, shaking his head. "Every single person that I care about, that I want to make happy, I drive away at some point. Even the boys." He turned in his seat to face Kaylie and she was shattered at his heartbreaking expression. "First it was my family, then it was my friends back home, and now it's you. What do I do wrong Kaylie?"

Kaylie started to shake her head. "Harry I--"

"Tell me please." Harry interrupted, desperately pleading with her. He reached across the console and grabbed her hand in his own, making her gasp at the contact. He was oblivious though. "I have to know Kaylie, I can't lose another friend."

Kaylie froze. At that word, at 'friend', she looked down at their interconnected hands and smiled sadly. She gently pulled her hand away and looked back up at Harry.

Tears were welling up in her eyes, and Harry was shocked. Why was she crying? What did he do now?

Kaylie reached out and touched Harry's cheek, her bottom lip starting to tremble. "I'll talk to you later Harry." She said with another sad smile. Harry didn't know how to respond.

With that being said, Kaylie stepped out of the car and started to walk towards her front door, tears streaming down her face. Kaylie hated crying, hated showing weakness of any kind. And if she showed Harry any of her many weaknesses, she would never get over it. This was obviously Fate's cruel way of telling her that they would never be together.

As Kaylie stepped in the front door, she closed it behind her and leaned her back against it, letting the tears spill over in the safe confines of her home. Suddenly though, the door opened behind her and her eyes flew open, screaming as she started to fall backwards.

Fortunately though, two strong arms caught her just in time. Two arms that she would be content to lie in for the rest of her life.

"Shit Kaylie, what're you--" Harry cut himself off as he lifted Kaylie back up and turned her to face him. His expression dropped when he saw the tears on her face. "Kay--"

"Harry I really need to be alone right now, I think you should leave." Kaylie interrupted hurriedly, turning her back and wiping her face quickly.

"Dammit Kaylie I'm not going to just walk away when you're crying!" Harry yelled, shutting the door behind him and following Kaylie towards her kitchen, where she was briskly walking to.

"I'm not crying!" Kaylie yelled back, still walking ahead of Harry.

Harry scoffed in frustration and reached out, grabbing Kaylie's wrist and turning her to face him. She was still crying. "Oh yeah?" He asked, still holding her wrist. "Then what do you call that?" He pointed at the tears running down her cheeks.

Kaylie looked down at her feet and shrugged her shoulders. "Allergies?" She said pathetically.

Harry was quiet for a second before chuckling sadly at her stupid response. "Damn you Kayles." He muttered, reaching out and wrapping Kaylie in a massive embrace, shielding her small body with his own.

Kaylie responded immediately, melting into his larger frame, shoulders shaking with sobs. She fisted her hand in the front of his v-neck and buried her face in his chest, letting the tears consume her. Harry said nothing, just stroked her hair gently and rubbed small circles on the small of her back.

Kaylie was content to stay there, wrapped in his arms, but she couldn't. Belle had been wrong, Kaylie couldn't tell Harry how she felt. He had clearly called her a friend back in the car, there was no hope for a future between them. She couldn't torture herself any longer, and she certainly couldn't face rejection from the one guy she had ever had such feelings for.

Kaylie started to shake her head from side to side, pulling away from Harry and stepping back. "No, I can't do this, you-you need to go Harry, I'm so sorry." She said quickly, turning away again.

"What?!" Harry called out. "No, no way in hell am I leaving." He reached out and grabbed Kaylie by the waist and spun her around, grabbing her upper arms and holding her to him. Kaylie gasped at their close proximity as Harry looked directly into her bright blue eyes. "What the hell am I doing that is so bad that you want to leave? I thought you were my friend!"

"Stop saying that word!" Kaylie shouted, her eyes wide as her shoulders shook.

"What word?" Harry asked exasperatedly.

"Friend!" Kaylie shouted back. Harry's eyes flew open in shock. "I hate when you say that Harry!"

Harry scoffed in shock. "What, are we not friends?" He asked innocently.

Kaylie scrunched up her face in frustration and stepped back, stomping her foot and looking all about her, struggling to find the right words to express how she was feeling. "Damn it, why does this have to happen to me?!" She shouted at no one in particular.

"What?" Harry asked loudly, confused beyond belief. "What's so horrible that has happened to you that--"

"I've fallen in love with you, you idiot!" Kaylie shouted, exploding from the pent up frustration. Harry's face turned to complete and utter shock. He opened his mouth to try and say something, but the flood gates had already been opened, Kaylie couldn't hold anything back any longer. "You and your nice personality, good looks, and caring nature! Dammit I didn't ask for this, I didn't want to fall in love with you! And I know you probably think that I'm just saying this because you're internationally famous, but you're wrong! Even if you were just some guy that I met on the street, or at University, I know I would still feel this way, because I like you, Harry, not Harry Styles the celebrity. And it pisses me off what people say about you out there, because you're not some villain, you're not a womanizer, I see the real side of you, and I love it. And I've been avoiding you for so long because I thought that it would make it easier to get over you, because I know we would never work, but it hasn't helped at all, it's just hurt you! And that's the last thing I want to do, Harry, I never want to hurt you, ever! And I don't even know why I'm even saying all this when you're dating that girl you met at the interview and I'm just so beyond deluded to think you would ever feel the same way about me and--"

Kaylie was finally silenced as Harry took one stride to her and crashed his lips on hers, having to bend down to her height. One hand went to her waist, and the other grabbed the nape of her neck, securing her face to his. Kaylie froze at first, but then she just melted all over again, becoming almost a dead weight as she succumbed to the desires she had been dreaming of since she met Harry a month and a half ago.

Harry's lips were soft, and they moved in perfect sync with Kaylie's. His tongue ran across her bottom lip and when she gasped at the sensation, he began exploring her mouth. He noticed that she tasted like peppermint as he ran his tongue over the back of teeth. Kaylie shuddered against him, reaching up and tangling her fingers in his hair, to which he moaned at.

Finally Harry broke away for a split second, his lips still hovering over Kaylie's. Her breathing was ragged and he was supporting her weight with his strong arms, her knees wobbling.

"Why would you ever think that I wouldn't feel the same way about you?" Harry asked, his deep voice thick and raspy.

Kaylie's eyes flew open and she stared back at Harry in shock. "What?" She squeaked.

Harry chuckled, nudging her head to the side and whispering hotly in her ear, "Kaylie I've wanted you since we first met." Kaylie gasped, her eyes fluttering closed again as his teeth grazed her earlobe. "At first it was just because you're smoking hot, but then it became more." He pulled back and lifted Kaylie's chin with his index finger so she would look at him. Her eyes opened again and they were wide, her mouth parted slightly in shock. "The way you're just so confident in yourself, your kind heart, the fact that you're willing to go the extra mile for anyone and everyone...it was so much. I started falling hard, and quick." He chuckled. "I never would've dreamed you felt the same way."

"B-But, the girl you met--"

"Damn it Kaylie, she wasn't real." Harry said exasperatedly, shaking his head. "I made her up, so I could try and see if you would say anything, give me any clues that you might like me back."

"She's...not real?" Kaylie squeaked out.

Harry nodded in embarrassment, looking down. "Yeah, pretty stupid right? Look I probably shouldn't have been such a pussy and said something first, if I had known you were hurting because you thought that I--"

This time, Kaylie was the one to silence Harry by crashing her lips on his. He responded immediately, grabbing her by the waist and pulling her hard against him. He groaned as the kiss became more heated, Kaylie running her hands up the back of his shirt, trying to memorize the curvature of his back muscles. He lowered his hands and grabbed her rear, squeezing tight and making Kaylie whimper. That's what drove him overboard.

Harry tore his lips away and looked down at Kaylie, his eyes dark and his breathing heavy. Without a word, he grabbed the back of her thighs and lifted her up, wrapping her legs around his waist. Kaylie squeaked at the motion, surprised at the lustfulness in his eyes. He walked them backwards and towards her kitchen table, reaching in front of him and swiping everything off the wooden table before gently laying Kaylie back on it, his body hovering over hers.

Once Kaylie was fully laid back, Harry immediately attached his lips to hers once again. He skimmed his hand underneath the hem of her shirt, tugging her body down further by grasping the top of her jean shorts and pulling. Kaylie had one hand pulling at the top of his v-neck, and the other in his hair. Harry moaned into her mouth when she ran her nails across his scalp.

"So fucking sexy." Harry murmured hotly. Kaylie hummed against him.

Harry braced one hand on the table beside Kaylie's head so he could position himself over top of her more, rolling his hips into hers. Kaylie gasped, her whole body shivering. He smirked in satisfaction, repeating the action.

Everything was going just as they wanted, both having dreamed about this moment at least a hundred times.

That was, until Belle and Niall walked in.

"Kaylie are you h-- OH MY GOD!" Belle exclaimed, cutting herself off as she walked in on her two friends basically dry humping on the kitchen table.

Harry and Kaylie immediately pulled apart, both turning their heads to see Belle blushing furiously, trying to pull Niall away fromt he doorway by the hand, while he burst into hysteric laughter.

Harry sprung off of Kaylie, and she stood up as well, straightening her shirt and running a hand over her hair.

"Uh, Belles that wasn't--"

"Don't mind us, we'll just be upstairs." Belle interrupted with a fake smile, tugging harder on Niall's hand, blushing furiously and not making eye contact with either of them. "Niall, come on." Belle hissed. He was still laughing as he followed her out of the room and up the stairs.

Once Belle and Niall were gone, Kaylie and Harry looked at each other, lips swollen and hair messy. Harry chuckled.

"Well this is a good start for us, wouldn't you say?"
