I bet you were too afraid to do it though. So you kept your mouth shut, and did exactly what you always told yourself you would never do: you followed the rules set by people who don't really know you, and let THEM control your life. But what could happen if you finally just said no? If you decided to follow your own dream? Would something amazing happen? Would you fall in love? Would you find what you've been looking for your whole life? What could happen if you just...broke free?

2 Days Later; Morning of the Syco Ball

"Kaylie. Kaylie wake up."

"Mmph."

"Kaylie come on, it's eleven o'clock in the morning, get up."

"Fuck off."

"Kaylie!"

"Go away right now before I chop off your hands with a chainsaw." Kaylie mumbled into her pillow, her blonde hair covering her face.

Belle rolled her eyes and huffed, stepping back from Kaylie's bed. She furrowed her brow in concentration, thinking of a way to get Kaylie out of bed. Her eyes got wide when an idea popped into her head.

"Oh hey there Harry, I didn't hear you come in, I was just asking Kaylie here to--"

Kaylie sprung up in the bed, flinging herself off of it and essentially falling on the floor. "What?! Harry what are you--" She stopped herself when she popped her head up and looked around the bedroom, only to see that Belle was laughing hysterically and Harry was in fact not in the room. Belle laughed and pointed at Kaylie's disheveled appearance, her long blonde hair in a crazy mess on top of her head. Kaylie rolled her eyes. "Ugh, I hate you."

Belle giggled. "Shutup, you love me. That was the only thing I could think of to get your lazy ass out of bed!"

Kaylie pushed herself up off the floor and ran her fingers through her messy hair. "Yeah, yeah, whatever."

Belle suddenly looked at Kaylie strangely. "Are those...? Are you wearing One Direction pajama pants?" She asked incredulously.

Kaylie looked down at her pajama bottoms and grinned, smiling back up at Belle. "Yep! Harry got them for me." She said brightly.

Belle looked at Kaylie for a split second with hysterical contempt before bursting into laughter. "He is such a loser!" She shouted in between laughing fits.

"Oi be quiet! I thought it was cute of him!" Kaylie retorted, biting back a smile as she thought about Harry. "You know you'd think it was cute if Niall got them for you."

"No I wouldn't!" Belle replied. "I'd tell him to get his head out his ass!"

Kaylie managed to laugh at that one even though she rolled her eyes. "Okay moving on from my pajama pants," She said with emphasis, "What time is Lou getting here to do our hair and makeup?"

"She'll be here around three o'clock, she's getting us in before she goes and helps the boys get ready. And Niall and Harry are picking us up here at six."

Kaylie nodded, picking up her phone and reading a text message. A smile immediately passed across her face.

"Oh gosh, he doesn't send you goodmorning texts does he?" Belle asked with an expression of romantic disgust.

Kaylie nodded and looked up at Belle, grinning. "Every morning, never fails.

"Ugh you two are sickeningly adorable." Belle muttered, unlocking her own phone as well.

"What, like Niall doesn't send you cute texts as well?" Kaylie bit back.

Belle nodded. "Yeah, he does. But we're talking about Harry. I can't imagine Harry being all...cutesy."

"Well he is." Kaylie said matter-of-factly, making Belle giggle. "He sent me, 'Good morning beautiful. Can't wait to see you this evening, it's going to be great. Hope you slept good, text me when you get this.' Isn't that adorable?!" She squeaked.

Belle giggled yet again. "Yeah I s'pose that's pretty sweet. Niall sent me, 'Hey gorgeous. Bet you're going to look smashing in your dress tonight, can't wait to see it!'" She read as she looked at her most recent text message.

"Hey Belles?" Kaylie asked.

Belle looked up at her. "Yeah?"

"We've got it pretty good, wouldn't you say? Despite everything?" Kaylie asked seriously. "They're good to us, aren't they?"

Belle thought for a moment before smiling. "Yeah." She replied. "We've got it really good."

And Belle meant what she said. Niall was nothing but amazing to her, and she was falling for him more and more each day. Tonight though, would determine the rest of their relationship.

Tonight, Belle and Niall were going public.

"I hate this movie!" Belle groaned, covering her face with a pillow from the pillow pit they sat in.

"Hey you said I could choose the film, so this is what we're watching!" Kaylie shouted, stuffing her face with popcorn.

The girls had decided to have a lazy movie day until Lou Teasedale arrived to do their makeup and hair for the Ball, and Kaylie had chosen Eclipse from the Twilight Saga.

"It's so stupid." Belle said, uncovering her face and watching the movie unfold on the flat screen. "Why the fuck can't she just decide? Either Jacob, or Edward. The one that makes her so miserable she could scream, yet she still loves him, or the one that dotes on her like a princess and--"

Belle cut herself off.

"Oh my damn." Belle muttered to herself.

"What is it?" Kaylie asked.

Belle barked out a short laugh. "I'm Bella. Oh my gosh even our names are almost the same!" She shouted disgustedly.

Kaylie paused the movie and turned to her friend. "What the hell are you going on about?"

"I'm her, she is me!" Belle shouted, pointing at the paused TV screen, where Kristen Stewart was frozen. "She has to pick between the two guys, and she loves them both, two of them were previously separated to keep the other one safe, and both guys make her happy and miserable at the same time! We are one and the same!" She yelled dramatically, flinging herself backwards in the pillow pit.

Kaylie chuckled. "Well I never thought of it that way, but I suppose you're right. But your situation is a tad bit different love."

Belle sat up. "Explain." She demanded.

"Well for one, Louis and Niall aren't mythological creatures. And for two, you're the one that left Louis for his own good, whereas Edward was the one that left Bella. And thirdly," Kaylie took a long pause, "Louis hasn't been treating you well at all since you got back. And Niall has been so patient, so loving, so caring with you. He knows you're having a hard time with everything, yet he sticks around because he cares about you that much. And he's been waiting for a long time to have you. Now I would never tell you who to choose, but...maybe you should just let the past go, Belles."

Belle's bottom lip quivered as she took in Kaylie's words. Her best friend was right. Louis and her were like fire and gasoline, and that's what made them so good while they were together, but it had been causing disaster since she had returned. Whereas she and Niall...they were like day and night. Different, yet they meshed together perfectly, they made each other whole.

"Thanks Kayles." Belle sputtered out, throwing herself at Kaylie to hug her. Kaylie hugged her back tightly and smiled.

"Anytime babe, that's what best friends are for."

Belle pulled back and smiled, wiping her eyes and taking in a deep breath. The two girls heard the door open downstairs.

"Lovely ladies, I'm here!" Lou's high voice rang out from downstairs.

"We're upstairs!" Belle shouted out.

Lou came into the room within a matter of seconds, her own hair and makeup already done perfectly, like always. She looked down at the two girls, laying in a pillow pit, Belle puffy eyed, and the both of them in sweats and tshirts.

"Well then. I've got my work cut out, haven't I?"

"Zip me up! Hurry the boys are going to be here any sec--"

"Kaylie! Belle! We're here!" Harry's voice rang out downstairs.

Kaylie and Belle froze, looking at each other before starting to laugh. "The one time they're early!" Belle muttered.

Belle was struggling to zip up Kaylie's dress, whereas she was still in her black thong and strapless bra, her dress not even on. Kaylie was having technical difficulties, the zipper caught in the fabric of her dress.

"Hold on just a second!" Belle shouted down at the guys from the bedroom where she and Kaylie were getting changed. The boys couldn't hear her though, her voice was muffled behind the closed door, and she was upstairs while they were downstairs in the foyer.

"What?" Niall called out loudly.

Belle rolled her eyes and huffed, letting go of the zipper and throwing open the door. She marched over to the railing at the top of the stairs and leaned over it. The boys looked up, both their eyes going wide as they looking at Belle standing there, leaned over, in only a thong and strapless bra.

"We are having some difficulties getting dressed, so you two will just have to wait a few minutes." She said matter-of-factly.

"Need any help?" Harry called up cheekily. Niall couldn't even speak, his jaw was dropped as he looked at Belle's almost entirely bare body.

Belle rolled her eyes and shot Harry the finger, turning around and stalking back to the room, giving the boys a quick glance at her thong clad rear.

As Belle entered the bedroom again, Kaylie was still working on the zipper, her face getting red in frustration. Belle went back to help.

"Did you just walk out there half naked?" Kaylie asked simply.

"Yepp." Belle replied nonchalantly. A second passed and she laughed lightly. "I finally got to answer Niall in my underwear."

Kaylie began to laugh hysterically at that one, and her sudden movement caused the fabric of the dress to come unhung from the zipper.

"Got it!" Belle shouted, zipping Kaylie up the rest of the way. She stepped back and smiled, looking at her best friend, who was absolutely stunning. "Okay hurry, help me now."

With that, Kaylie went to helping Belle step into her dress as well, zipping her up in no time. Belle straightened everything out and the girls stood side by side in front of the floor length mirror, smoothing out wrinkles in the fabric, tucking away flyaway hair strands, and checking their makeup. Once they were satisfied, the two girls smiled at each other.

"Let's knock 'em dead." Kaylie said cheerfully, holding out her arm. Belle laughed, took her arm, and both girls walked out of the room.

As Kaylie and Belle made their way to the staircase they heard Niall call out, "Girls hurry up, we're dying out here!"

"We're coming!" Belle yelled back.

When they rounded the corner to the staircase where they were visible to the boys, Belle put on a satisfied smirk as she watched their eyes go wide and their jaws drop.

Harry felt as though he couldn't breathe. Kaylie looked absolutely amazing. Her dress was strapless, dark green, and floor length with a floral waistband. Her light skin in contrast with the deep color of the dress made her blue eyes pop. Her long blonde hair was pulled over one shoulder, curled lightly. Her lips were a deep red color and Harry wished nothing more than to place his own on them.

Niall on the other hand was simply having trouble staying on his feet. Kaylie's dress was also strapless, but a bright orange color, which went well with her natural tan skin. It was a high-low dress, showing off her amazing legs, clad in silver stilettos. The top half of the dress had silver streaks going across the bust, which was a heart shape. She had just the right amount of cleavage to attract attention, but not so much that she came across as slutty. Her hair was in a fancy updo, with her side bangs curled and lay perfectly. She looked more beautiful than ever.

The girls got to the bottom of the stairs and Harry immediately stepped forward and pulled Kaylie towards him, kissing her full on the mouth. While they were entranced in one another, Belle stood at the base of the staircase and smirked at Niall, who was still looking her up and down with a dazed expression on his face.

"Well don't you look handsome." Belle said with a smile.

And he did, as did Harry, both of them wearing perfectly fitted black tuxes. Niall's blonde hair was styled up perfectly and Belle was dying to run her fingers through it.

"You look..." Niall started, looking at her and shaking his head in awestruck disbelief. "Fucking fantastic." He finally spat out, looking up at her face.

Belle blushed and giggled, looking down at her feet. Niall stepped up close to her and put his index finger under her chin, lifting her face to his, just inches away.

"You're so beautiful." He murmured, pressing his lips softly against hers. Belle's eyes fluttered closed as she kissed him back, the feel of his soft lips so familiar at this point. He pulled away slowly and smiled lazily at her. Belle grinned back, biting down on her bottom lip, which she knew drove Niall mad.

Niall groaned, wanting to kiss her more. Instead though he managed to mumble, "Let's go" in Belle's ear, taking her hand and pulling her towards the door as she giggled.

"We'll be in the car whenever you two are done sucking face!" Belle shouted at Harry and Kaylie, who were making out heavily at this point. Harry waved his hand at her, not ever pulling away from Kaylie. Belle laughed and let Niall lead her out the front door and to his car.

This night was going to be interesting.

Louis was already at the Ball, which had begun thirty minutes ago. He hadn't brought a date, too upset about the whole Belle situation to ask anyone else at the last minute.

There were tons of artists in the large ballroom, everyone that was signed by Syco was there. Louis had already seen Cher Lloyd, Rebecca Ferguson, Little Mix, Fifth Harmony, Susan Boyle, Carly Rose Sonenclar, Emblem3, and several others. Liam and Zayn were in attendance with their girlfriends, off dancing somewhere. Harry and Niall had yet to arrive though. Louis was curious to see who Niall brought, since he had been keeping it a secret the past couple of weeks.

More than that though, Louis was the most anxious about seeing Belle and her date. She had told him that she was being brought by her new boyfriend, so Louis couldn't wait to see who the little douchebag was. In his mind though, he couldn't help but be smug and think that whoever it possibly was, would be a downgrade from him. He wasn't being arrogant, just confident. He couldn't imagine Belle having a better relationship with anyone than what they had had together.

Thus, Louis was sat at the bar, his back leaning against it while he downed a shot and stared at the door, where artists were filing in every few minutes. The second Belle walked in, he would know who her new boyfriend was. Their previous relationship had been ideal, he couldn't understand why she didn't just take him back already.

A few minutes passed and suddenly the space between Louis and the front door got very crowded. He craned his neck to and fro to keep a steady eye on the door, and that's when he caught a glimpse of her.

He could recognize that brown hair and tan skin anywhere, and he saw Kaylie's blonde hair right behind her. They must have come together, which he wasn't surprised by. Which meant Harry was with them as well, being Kaylie's escort. So...Harry knew who Belle's new guy was?

Louis shook off that thought, still trying to look past the crowd in front of him to see who Kaylie was with. He caught sight of a black tux, but Olly Murs stepped right in front of him just as he was about to see the guy's face.

"'Scuse me." Louis mumbled, stepping around Olly and looking in Belle's direction yet again.

That's when he saw her fully. She looked amazing in that dress, and her smile was dazzling as she greeted the people around her. Louis' heart fluttered at the sight.

But then Louis' heart stopped.

Belle's date, her new boyfriend, the guy whom he had been replaced by, the guy holding her hand...he was no stranger.

It was Louis' best friend.

It was Niall.
