For the love of my daughter {One Direction}

"I told you to stay out of my life Sam! You said you didn't want anything to do with her, so why do you suddenly care when she's happy!?"
"She's my daughter, I know what's best for her!"
"You know shit! You've never been here for her! You don't even know her! Just leave us alone!"
"I want her out of the media Alex!"
"She likes being with the boys!"
"I'm taking this to the police!"
"Yeah do that. I have the custody so you can do shit about it!"
I knew Sam had never liked One Direction, but taking them out of Caitlin's life now that she finally had them in real life wasn't fair, though I couldn't help but wonder if he was right. Was it really good for my daughter to be surrounded by the paparazzi whenever she was with one of the boys?
My name is Alexandria Griffin, but call me Alex, I'm an 18 year old model and mother for a 4 year old girl.

10. Harry's late night call

Sunday afternoon I went out for coffee with Zoe. I had just finished the second fashion show and just really enjoyed that I was now off for two days.

“How was Caitlin when you got home last night?”

“She was glad that I was home. She loves being around Emily, but honestly I think there’s something going on when I’m not there. It’s like she’s escaping from her as soon as I’m back home and then she’s just all tacky to me for the rest of the night.”

“Sounds like it. Maybe you should stay with some friends and get her out of the house for a couple of days.”

“Where would I stay Zoe? I can’t stay with you. I can’t stay with my mum, I can stay with the boys.”

“Now hold on, why can’t you stay with your mum?”

“Because Sam’s around all the time and it’s driving me crazy. I think Nick is telling him whenever I’m there because Sam really wants to be part of her life now that he has grown up.”

“But you have sole custody right?”

“That’s exactly what I’ve been telling Nick!”

“He’s a boy. That’s why he doesn’t understand.”

“And he’s still friends with Sam after everything I’ve been through with him.”

We were talking about everything for about an hour before I had to go home and make dinner. Emily was the worst chef ever so I didn’t let her cook much, I was always the one cooking as I loved working with food. Just a shame I wasn’t allowed to eat a lot of it as well.

Zoe and me said our goodbyes and went separate ways. I was stuck in the London traffic for a long time, but I made it home by 5pm. When I opened the door to my flat the first thing that filled my ears was the sound of Caitlin crying. I didn’t understand where was Emily to take care of her?

“Caitlin where are you?”

Her voice was a screaming and I ran into her room where she was sitting on the floor. She had blood on her leg, so I knew she had fallen and scratched it, but where was Emily to take care of her?

I carried her out into the bathroom that was inside of my room and put her on the counter.

It wasn’t as bad as it looked when I got the dried blood off of her leg. It was actually only a scrape but I knew how much that hurt.

“It’s gonna be okay babe.”

I kissed her forehead as I cleaned her knee and her hands.

“Caitlin? Where’s Aunt Emily at?”

Caitlin just shook her head and hid it in my chest. She obviously didn’t want to tell me. When I finished cleaning her up and put some patches on her knee I lay her into my bed to calm her down.

“Can you lie here and watch some TV while mummy is getting something to drink?”

She nodded as the tears dried in on her skin and I wiped them away.

“That’s my princess.”

I kissed her cheek again before I got up and closed the door. My entire body was filled with hate and disgust as I searched the flat around. There was no sight of Emily, but the only place I hadn’t checked was her room. We had that much respect for each other to stay out of each other’s rooms.

I walked up to the door that was closed and could easily hear her inside of the room, and it was easy to tell that she wasn’t alone.

I didn’t even have enough sanity left to just gently knock on the door, instead I stormed through the door and interrupted her and Ryan having some fun boyfriend/girlfriend time together.

“Alex?! WTF?!”

“You don’t fucking what the fuck me, you fucking cunt! You were supposed to watch Caitlin until I was home and the first fucking thing I hear when I get home is her crying in her room because she fell and hurt her knee. Now what the fuck is wrong with you?! She’s 4 years old, she can’t take care of herself! And you fucking promised me.”

I pushed her against the wall while she was only wearing her robe. Ryan tried to stop me, but I turned around and pushed him away.

“Don’t you freaking trying to be a part of this Ryan Green!”

I gave him a warning finger and then turned back to Emily who was both sad and angry with me, but deep inside of her she knew she deserved this. She knew how much Caitlin and my job meant to me, and as my so called best friend, I was supposed to be able to trust her, but she just proved me wrong.

“I’m putting this flat for sale. Caitlin and I will be staying with my mum until we find something better. I hope you’ll have a great life Emily, because you’re no longer part of mine.”

I looked at her with the coldest and most empty look I had ever given someone.

“Alex wait.”

I was on my way out of the door when she stopped me, she was sorry I knew it, but leaving a kid alone. Anything could have happened. She didn’t even have the door locked or the small chain so she wouldn’t be able to run out.

I looked at her still cold, but with much more questioning in my eyes this time.

“I’m really sorry, it’s just been a crazy time lately.”

“It’s always been a crazy time with you Emily, but this time you crossed the line. She could have opened the front door and ran out into the street! I could have lost the one thing that means the entire world to me, and you just don’t care about it?! I thought you were my best friend Emily, my sister, Caitlin’s auntie. But I guess I was wrong about you. I want you to leave this place tonight. I’m putting it for sale the first thing in the morning.”

I left the room in tears and went into my room where I packed a huge back and then called Nick.

“Get my room ready Nick. Caitlin and I will be over soon.”

“What’s going on?”

“I’ll tell you when we get there.”

I hung up and saw Caitlin question me as I was crying and packing my stuff.

“It’s okay sweetie, we’re just gonna go visit Nanny and Uncle Nick for a while.”

I pulled up in front of my old house and shook my head. I couldn’t believe I was doing this. It was late and Caitlin and I were both really hungry, but we hadn’t had time for dinner yet.

I looked up and saw Sam’s car parked in front of the house and felt the anger fill my body as both him and Nick took my bags and I carried Caitlin into my room.

The entire night was really stressful and I kept avoiding Sam and made sure he stayed away from Caitlin. I loved how she called him by name and not daddy or something else. He might have been her father by blood but he would never be her dad.

I went out of my room where Caitlin was finally asleep at 10.35 and saw Sam who was on the way in there.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

“I was just gonna ask you if you needed help.”

“I don’t need your help with anything at all!”

I walked past him and turned around to look at him when I had taken a few steps closer to the living room.

“And don’t you dare go wake her up now that she’s finally asleep.”

My tone was hard as I made my way into the empty living room. I was about to pass out on the couch when my phone started ringing.

My voice was sleepy and I was leaning back really lazy on the couch.

“Hey beautiful.”

A drunken husky voice filled my ear and I sat up in the couch leaning forward.

“Hey babe”

“What are you doing it’s Sunday night?”

“But I miss you.”

“Aww that’s sweet.”

“Don’t you miss me?”

“Of course I do sweetie, it’s just been a really crazy time this week.”

“I’m outside your flat right now. Aren’t you gonna let me in?”

“Harry sweetie, I’m in Chelsea, staying with my mum for a while, and you shouldn’t be driving when you’ve been drinking.”

“aww c’mon!”

“Harry we can meet up soon, I promise.”

“I promise sweetie.”

“Good, because I miss your beautiful smile Alex Griffin.”

I closed my eyes and smiled for a while just picturing him sitting there in his car.

“I miss you too Harry. Text me when you get home so I’ll know you got home alright. Okay?”

“Goodnight Harry.”

“Goodnight beautiful Alex.”

I giggled into the phone before I hung up. God he was hopeless, but that was why I enjoyed being around him. He always knew how to put a smile on my face.

I went to bed around midnight, and was actually really worried that Harry hadn’t texted me yet. What was he doing?

I thought about it for a while but soon dozed off in my old bed, in my old room.

I woke up in the middle of the night because I could hear live while we’re young playing on my phone which meant someone was calling me.

I was still asleep and had the sleepiest voice ever.

“It’s the middle of the night Harry…”

“Yeah I know I’m sorry, I just woke up and I forgot that I didn’t text you that I got home. I wouldn’t want you to be worried about me.”

“Harry I was sleeping until you called.”

I was whispering so Caitlin wouldn’t wake up from my voice.

“I’m sorry.”

“No it’s okay don’t worry. But I swear I’ll kill you next time you wake me up in the middle of the night.”

“Go back to sleep then, I’ll text you in the morning.”

“sure, goodnight.”
