Remembering The Past (How I Know How)

Everyone knows Carly Curson. If you don't, have you been living under a rock for the past thirty years? With more Grammy awards than thought possible, a loving husband and three kids, her life appears to be a dream! Until a routine health check reveals three lumps. Now she knows she's dying, Carly wants to record all her life stories in an anthology. She always liked poetry, so it was an obvious choice for her...before she goes out with a bang.

Some people say it's the first one,

Others say it's the second.

In Hollywood however,

Even if it's just going to see the latest Paranormal Activity film.

This had to be the most vital one of all.

Me and him on holiday in Curacao.

Largest amount of scallops you'll ever see,

Sitting on the sand,

Decorating sandcastles,

And under the deep blue waters.

I was grateful to ditch the paparazzi,

He wouldn't let my waist go.

Hummingbirds darted around,

In the middle of the beach,

Close to the shore,

Scallops weren't there,

Except for just one.

Pearly white,

Shimmering like the ocean,

Someone had planned this,

I knew just who.

"Open this up."

Eagerly I obliged.

I didn't know what to expect,

But certainly not this!

"Carly, will you marry me?"

I slipped the ring on my hand.

"Yes!" I shrieked,

A kiss on the sands.

This has to be the most important date of all.
