20. Flames

I made my way the living room. Loads and loads of people were dancing, doing drugs and making out. I spotted Dayna from across the room.

A hand grabbed my wrist, it was Lukes. I turned around to reveal my devastated facial expression. “What happened?” Luke asked looking scared and worried. I looked down trying to hide my tears. “I'm going home.” I said trying to walk away, but his hand was stong around my wrist. “Don't leave! Stay. We'll go get some fresh air. You don't actually want to leave. Please stay, just for a while.” He said. I shut my eyes, then nodded.

We went to the beach. It was claming me down, and I felt safe. We sat in the sand. It was still warm from earlier, but the air was slightly cold. “What happened?” Luke asked calmly. “I don't want to talk about it to be honest.” My eyes fluttered.

I spotted a fireplace nearby, we decided to go there to warm up a bit. The fire was already burning, leaving a warm thick air. We sad around it. I felt like Luke was the one I could tell everything. I took a deep breath. “You know... I fancy Jai, and... he was kissing someone right in front of my face. It was like everything bad that has ever happened to me came at me all at one time. I thought I could trust Jai. But I can't. After the dinner, when I took off... he kissed me. I thought he was something special.” I explained without looking at Luke. I stared into the fire. I could feel him turning towards me, and I looked him in the eyes. “I'll kill him. He was never the one to keep himself in a realtionship. It get's even worse when he's drunk” He said.

“Are you?” I asked calmy.

“Drunk?” He asked confusedly.

“No, Are you good in a relationship, Mr. Brooks?” I asked giggling.

He laughed. “Don't call me that, it makes me feel old.” he paused and went into a more serious mode. “And.. uhm... I wouldn't know. I've never been in a real relationship.” his voice was interesting to listen to.

“Have you ever loved someone before?” I asked.

He smiled. “Nah, but I think I'm falling in love. I feel safe and tinkly around... her” He said.

I started to create an idea of who he was talking about. “How much do you know about her?” I asked. “More than her dad does. And more than my jackass brother does.” He replied.

“Is she here tonight?” I asked. I felt like an interviewer of some sort. “She isn't in the house. She's right here.” He replied slowly, then looked me in the eyes waiting for a reply. I didn't know what to say. I moved further towards him. “You know, you even look good with mascara all over your cheeks.” He said breaking the silence. He was so close I could feel every breath he took. “No I don't.” I said. No reply. He was so close I could see his eye lashes upclose. That was when it happened. I kissed him. I didn't even mean to, I just did it. A warm tinkly feeling rushed through my body as our lips met. Maybe the drinks I had earlier on was helping it along, but I felt safe and happy.
