What He Doesn't Know

Audrey was Liam's best friend. His protector. His "sister". His bodygaurd. And he was hers. They did everything together. Until the ninth grade. They drifted apart, found new friends. But, they haven't talked since. Until now. 7 years later. A lot can happen in 7 years. Scars can emerge, tears can be shed, memories can develop. But it's worse for all when the only one you love has no idea what you've been through.

Audrey's POV:

Going in and out the back door is different. I feel as if I'm going to get lost simply going to the tube station. But, I make it work, I don't want any more trouble for Liam. The paparazzi are still in their vans and I've been paranoid checking twitter every two seconds to ensure Liam isn't getting hate. When I woke this morning I heard a note knock on the window, and I read: Dinner Tonight? Back door at 8? We can catch up. -LiLi I chuckle at the way he signs the note. That was my nickname for him. I reply: See you later LiLi! :) -Audrey Our notes have become more and more friendly and I simply cannot wait to catch up tonight! I'll bet he has a special place picked out, Liam always does. I haven't spent time with him since 5th grade.

I woke up late, it's nearly 10 AM so I stay in my pajamas, Saturday is the only day I don't have any classes. I catch up on homework while I pig out on chocolate chip cookies. I have a history essay due on Thursday and an exam in psychology on Tuesday. I spend the day on my bed, getting up only to eat. At about 7, I begin to get ready. I have a rendezvous with Liam out the back door past the garden at 8. I throw on a sheer yellow top, black boots, leather jacket, and light wash jeans. My straightened blonde hair flows down my back, catching on my earring. I uncatch it and tie a yellow ribbon into my half back hair. I grab my black bag and head out the door. As I creep down the stairs, I feel like a ninja. I spy Liam creeping in the shadows of his building as I come closer to him. I play a scene in my mind of how the situation could go badly wrong. It won't though. It doesn't. Liam looks up and I see a glint in his eyes, I smile. He grins.

Liam's POV:

I'm so glad I get to see Audrey tonight. I'm glad she agreed and made true! Oxford must tire her out, she's a bright girl but Oxford is going to take a lot of work. I have the perfect place, we used to go there all the time when we were younger. I'm nearly positive its her favorite, just like it is Niall's. I feel bad not inviting him or the other boys but only Zayn knows and I don't want the others to make a big deal out of it. As eight o'clock draws nearer Harry, Zayn, Niall, and Louis are heading out to a club while I throw on dark jeans, a black jacket, and grab my aviators. I raid Nialler's closet for two snapbacks, as I only own one white one. Upsettingly, we need to go undercover.

I creep out the back door 5 minutes to 8 and crouch in the shadows, out of sight of the black vans still in front of the apartment. The street light illuminating the small garden gives off the only light in the alleyway. I wait three minutes until I spy her stepping out the door and creeping towards me. For some, this may seem like a sketchy scene. But for Audrey, she's most likely making this rendezvous into some sort of game. I see a glint in her eyes as she looks up at me. I wonder what she sees me as right now. In her crazy mind, this most likely is a game where we are pirates, ninjas, or spies. She's the prize and the paparazzi are keeping me from fetching her. Or, we could be Romeo and Juliet, star-crossed lovers who must meet in secret and keep their families from knowing. Audrey is the only one who could come up with these scenarios in her mind. She walks up to me and I grin. She smiles. I haven't seen that smile in nearly 5 years. That's 5 years to make up over one dinner.
