What He Doesn't Know

Audrey was Liam's best friend. His protector. His "sister". His bodygaurd. And he was hers. They did everything together. Until the ninth grade. They drifted apart, found new friends. But, they haven't talked since. Until now. 7 years later. A lot can happen in 7 years. Scars can emerge, tears can be shed, memories can develop. But it's worse for all when the only one you love has no idea what you've been through.

2. Realization

Audrey's POV:

I wake to the sound of my alarm clock singing. Its Wednesday, physiology class at 8 AM. Ugh. I dress in a fall outfit, great for the rare non-rainy days in London. My black boots, Burberry scarf, and red vest will fit into the foliage nicely. I open my curtains to let in some sunlight. I notice a card on the clothesline and open the window to grab it. I unfold the note and read: Hello Darling, xoxo Liam I smirk. Liam. Of course. I knew that name. Liam Payne, of my elementary school. Liam Payne, now of One Direction. Of course, I remember him, his eyes. How could I not? I take a  sheet of notepaper from my binder and answer: Hi Liam :) Remember me? -Audrey I reel it over and smile at the memories as I walk to class. I sure remember him.

Liam's POV:

I haven't slept all night. I keep seeing the girl next door peeking through the curtains, and every time I recognize something new about her. I wonder if she's returned my note yet? If so, shes up early! Now I have to check, I can't stand not knowing. I stand up too fast, become dizzy, and clutch on to the bed frame to keep from toppling over. I rush to the window and feel my heart quicken as I spy the note fluttering in the breeze. I open the window, unclasp the note, and watch as the note flutters down 4 stories. I gasp.

It lands on a bench in the garden. I leave the flat quickly and hope to be back before any of the boys notice I'm gone. I race down the stairs and out the door into the garden. Thankfully there are no fans, but I failed to notice the black vans full of paparazzi. I grab the note and am immediately surrounded by paparazzi  Great. I'm wearing batman pajamas and holding a note from a girl. This is tabloid center. New rumors are just around the corner. I push through the crowd and into the flat. Thankfully, the boys are still sleeping. I slip back into bed and open her note. I read it and it all comes rushing back. No wonder I recognize Audrey. She was my partner, my buddy, my sister, my friend. We were bullied together, but stayed strong through each other. We were best friends who slowly drifted apart. Perhaps this time we could be close again, and stay that way. I hope so.
