What He Doesn't Know

Audrey was Liam's best friend. His protector. His "sister". His bodygaurd. And he was hers. They did everything together. Until the ninth grade. They drifted apart, found new friends. But, they haven't talked since. Until now. 7 years later. A lot can happen in 7 years. Scars can emerge, tears can be shed, memories can develop. But it's worse for all when the only one you love has no idea what you've been through.

8. Mistaken

Audrey's POV:

I wake up the next morning past 10. I have class at 11:30 and I am already running late! I throw my hair into a messy bun, tied back with a brown hairband. I slip on white leggings, my brown UGGS, and pull my extra-large Oxford sweatshirt over my head as I run out the door. I munch on a breakfast bar as I descend the front stairs, as the back ones take twice as long. The second I open the door at the bottom, I'm surrounded. "Damn," I mutter to myself. Thankfully, Liam has helped me know what to do in this situation. They fire questions at me but I keep my head down and my mouth shut. I keep a straight face and keep walking. I hustle through, down the street to the tube station and just make it into the train on time.

Running off the platform towards my class gives me a just a minute in the room before the class begins. I am met by whispers, stares, giggles, and glances towards a screen. Oh no, it must be the paparazzi. What have they thought up now? I whip out my white iPhone and open my search bar. But the moment it loads, the professor comes in. He motions to put away our phones. I guess I'll have to wait.

I endure two hours of whispers, glances, and giggles during a rather interesting lecture on the philosophy behind the Cold War. I take more notes than usual, trying to ignore the rumors and block out the talking going on behind me. The moment class is dismissed, I rush to the tube station and onto the train. Finally sitting away from people who believe those nasty rumors. Whatever they are. I finally have a time to check what they are. I hesitatingly search "Liam Payne" and I'm in disbelief. I see a picture of myself looking uber-tired and a picture of Liam going into his flat late last night. It is headed by the worst rumor the paparazzi could have ever thought up.
