7. Memories..

Grade 6-

"See that girl over there?" A boy whispered to another girl, pointing to a slightly chubby girl. "Yeah, what about her?" "I heard she's a lesbian!" the boy whispered, loudly. The 'chubby' girl shot around, facing the two, tears in her eyes. "I am not!" the girl cried. "Oh, really? Anabelle's been talking about it all year! I think she likes you as much as you like her. You'd make a cute couple," the boy sniggered. The girl stumbled up, and ran across the courtyard, away from the other children.

Grade 3-

"Fatty, fatty, Jane is a fatty!" the boys and girls sniggered, taunting the poor girl. "Stop it! Just leave me alone!" The girl began to cry. "Oh, look," one girl shouted, "Jane is a crybaby, too!" The boys and girls chanted, "Crybaby, crybaby, Jane is a baby!", standing in a circle around her, the single girl crying.

Grade 7-

"Miss Coleman, have you ever considered going on a diet?" the conseler asked the young girl. "Diet?!" The girl shouted. "Yes, Jayna, a diet. You see, the kids usually taunt you about your weight, so-" The teenager interuppted, "You're just like them! Damn, am I really that fat?" The girl stormed out of the room, leaving a clueless guidance conselour alone.

I woke up with a start, crying as the memories flooded back to me. "Moving helped me," I chanted. "I went on a diet. I wore makeup. I acted nicer. I made friends," I spoke to myself. Those memories soon tore my heart apart, and I began to sob. My phone rang violently on the beanbag, and I answered it, not checking the caller I.D.

"What?!" I snapped, still sobbing. "Jayna, I'm so sorry! I had no idea about Jesses and the Clones, and your mum, and-" I reconized the husky accent immeadetly, Louis. I cut him off. "Save the s-shit Lou. I don't need y-your help. Leave me alone!"

Louis said, "Look, Jayna-" I quickly hung up and ran to my room.
