I Know You're There: Abducted Angels

*Sequel to I Know You're There, read that first*. Reuben and Tori have ran away. They've got a place to stay, and their fake ID's are working. The only thing is, Tori's 'abduction' story is currently the biggest segment of the news. Yep, Reuben is the World's most wanted. Nobody knows it's Reuben, though. Not only are the police after them, but there's a sick band of people, who want Angels. Not for good reasons, some for dissection, some for information. They're both after Reuben. But of course, there's more problems then that. Ex's, (new) family and money. But they're together, and that's all that matters... right?

23. 'Um... yeah... Sweet dreams.'

For about ten minutes, I sat there, in Damien's arms, crying to my heart's content. Everything was building up, one by one, and I just lost it. I lost myself. Everything I loved was slowly slipping away from me, and there was nothing I could do about it. It didn't even seem like I was losing everything, but I was. I guessed reality had hit me like a brick wall.

Visitors flooded in, some of them beaming with my return, some crying in remorse. How the news got out, I did not know. Probably something to do with my Dad, Daniel or Ollie. Anyway, my Dad soon sorted them out, and got rid of them. I wasn't ready to see anyone, especially Emily, my 'best friend'. We kind of forced our friendship, and it wasn't very strong. Of course, anyone would be upset if even a distant friend suddenly disappeared, so you know.

"Hey... What you up to?" I said quietly, directing it at Damien.

He was sat in the living room, on his phone, as per usual. My parents accepted Damien, even though he was the person I 'lived' with. Honestly, I was over the moon to have him.

"Just playing Angry Birds," he smiled sheepishly, and I giggled.

Using the crutches my Dad had managed to find, from Ollie's football injury, I half-walked over to him, and sat down. Silently, I watched him throw a bird at a pig, over his shoulder, and rolled my eyes. Seriously, who looked at a bird, or a pig, and thought 'Hey, what if birds were really angry, and wanted to hit green pigs?'. Yeah, I know.

I was aching for Reuben, but I was giving him a chance to catch up. It must have been hard for him, to leave, without telling my Mum the real story, and having to be in the same room as Daniel. Well, that was hard for all of us. I think we all had the itching urge to punch him... Too far?

Closing my eyes, I rested my head on Damien's shoulder. I was exhausted, but not physically. Emotionally, I was drained, and couldn't move another inch.

"Tired, huh?" Damien said, quietly.

"Yeah..." I mumbled, yawning right on cue.

"Come on, then," he put his phone in his pocket, and twisted around.

Carefully, he picked me up, bridal style. I tried to keep my smile discreet, as he carried me up, to my old room. It was disturbingly cold, and desolate. Not a thing had been moved, since I left, other than my bedding. It had been straightened out, and that was it. Creepy.

Gently, Damien laid me down on my bed, pulling the covers up around me. Although the rest of my room was cold, I was in my own cocoon of warmth. I laid with my broken leg out slightly, so that there was no way of damaging it, during my nap.

"You all right?" Damien asked, closing my curtains for me.

"Yeah, thanks," I smiled sheepishly, and he smiled back.

"Go to sleep," he whispered, smoothing my hair out of my eyes.

He leant in, to plant a small kiss on my forehead. My mind blurred over, and I lifted my head up, so that Damien's lips met mine. He jumped in surprise, but then kissed me back. What. Was. I. Doing? My body filled with warmth, as he pulled away, a look of pure guilt on his innocent face.

"Um... Yeah... Sweet dreams," he quickly dashed out the door, leaving me alone in bewilderment.
