I Know You're There: Abducted Angels

*Sequel to I Know You're There, read that first*. Reuben and Tori have ran away. They've got a place to stay, and their fake ID's are working. The only thing is, Tori's 'abduction' story is currently the biggest segment of the news. Yep, Reuben is the World's most wanted. Nobody knows it's Reuben, though. Not only are the police after them, but there's a sick band of people, who want Angels. Not for good reasons, some for dissection, some for information. They're both after Reuben. But of course, there's more problems then that. Ex's, (new) family and money. But they're together, and that's all that matters... right?

12. 'This is not a joke!'

I froze. I literally just felt paralysed, not able to breath, nor move. What did he mean, Reuben's not an angel? That's insane. Reuben was the sweetest person ever, he wouldn't hurt a fly. Wait, why was I overreacting? He was probably just human or something. Just because he's not an Angel, doesn't mean he's something sick.

"What is he, then?" I babbled, my speech slurred.

Damien sighed, diverting his inanimate gaze to the floor. Okay, screw what I said about it being not bad. That was bad.

"Look, Tori, it's probably best if you don't know-"

"Shut up, and tell me what he is!" I yelled, making absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Damien sighed again, and had a staring contest with the floor. I didn't push for the answer any more, deciding to give him time on figuring out how to word it. It was clearly bad, and I didn't want to know, but I needed to. Maybe I'd be better off, not knowing, but who cares? If it included Reuben, then it included me, end of.

"Well, he's kind of, like, um... A demon..." Damien whispered, and I became paralysed all over again.

What the actual hell? There's no way that's true. He was just messing with me. Reuben was probably next door, listening to Damien prank me. Reuben was not a Demon, and I would never believe it. Anyone who had ever met Reuben wouldn't believe it for a second. They'd burst out laughing, saying 'That's a good one'.

Slowly, the puzzle started putting itself together. Let me explain.

Reuben gave me his heart, so how could he have had a heart? Exactly, he didn't.

When we met for the first time after he left, he actually let me run away. An Angel wouldn't let me do that.

He killed three people. Do I need to explain that one?

In the van, when his eyes opened, they were black. Just like a Demon's.

Oh my God. Reuben really was a Demon. Hyperventilating started up, and Damien tried to calm me down. Why had no one told me? I'd been hanging out with a Demon, which, could not be good for my health. There's no good in them! To be frank, I was expecting a heart attack, or a panic attack to start up.

Black and white spots blotted out my vision, and my breathing rapidly increased. I felt someone grab my hand, and I guessed it was Damien's. It felt a lot like when Reuben held my hand. It was just the way Damien slotted his fingers into mine, fitting them perfectly. I opened my eyes, and I saw Reuben.

One of his eyes were the bright, pure, bubbly blue. The other was a dark, demeaning, harsh black. Scared, I crushed my eyes closed, and opened them again. Damien was there, his eyebrows knitted together, and his forehead creased in worry. He squeezed my hand, and his mouth moved, but no words made it to my ears. I took a deep shaky breath, but everything went black.

The shouting of my name hurt my ears, and I knew the voice was Damien's. There was a pressure on my wrist, and I knew he was checking my pulse. Loudly, he cursed, and checked the pulse at my neck. When that responded negatively, I could hear him starting to panic. After a few deep breaths, he tilted my head back, by tipping my chin up. If I was awake, all I'd do, would be cringing.

Carefully, he pinched my nose close, and he leant in. Oh God. Why could I still hear him, but my pulse wasn't working!? I'd rather be dead, that put through this. No offence to Damien, or anything. I felt his warm breath on my lips, and they met. Heavily, he blew air into me. I felt my lungs rise, but they weren't ready to work by themselves. He did it again, and my eyes shot open. I shoved Damien away from me, and spluttered, sitting up.

Groaning, Damien sat down, wiping his lips with the back of his hand.

"The first time I save your life, I get yelled at. The second time, you shove me. Thanks, Tori," he whined.

"This is not a joke!" I said, my voice scratchy.

"How would you survive without a Guardian Angel?"

That's the problem. I didn't have one any more. Well, yeah, there's Damien, but I want Reuben.
