I Know You're There: Abducted Angels

*Sequel to I Know You're There, read that first*. Reuben and Tori have ran away. They've got a place to stay, and their fake ID's are working. The only thing is, Tori's 'abduction' story is currently the biggest segment of the news. Yep, Reuben is the World's most wanted. Nobody knows it's Reuben, though. Not only are the police after them, but there's a sick band of people, who want Angels. Not for good reasons, some for dissection, some for information. They're both after Reuben. But of course, there's more problems then that. Ex's, (new) family and money. But they're together, and that's all that matters... right?

25. 'Stay out of this, kid.'

Groaning internally, I made Ollie pick my crutches up for me, and help me down the stairs. Quickly, I yelled for Damien to join us, and he arrived in record time. His face was scarily pale, which must have meant that he knew that I told Reuben. Slightly unsure, he raised his eyebrows at me, waiting for me to explain.

Again, I groaned, "Reuben's left, and I don't know where he's gone."

Damien's mouth formed an 'o' shape, as he opened the front door for me. Ollie retreated, as I thought this plan through. It wasn't much of a plan - we were just heading out to try and find Reuben. He could have gone anywhere. For all we knew, he could be on his way back to Brighton. Maybe he was going to Scotland, we didn't know.

"He might just be next door, cooling off," Damien suggested, as we stood at the end of my front garden path.

I nodded, and started up the path to the front door of Reuben's place. Damien was cautious behind me, scared that Reuben would want to hurt him, or something. Not to be presumptuous, but I knew he wouldn't even come close to hurting me. As for Damien, he was certainly in danger, but he hopefully wouldn't hurt him. Anyway, Reuben's trying to be a 'good' Demon, or something along those lines, and hurting Damien wouldn't exactly go towards that.

SIlently, we entered the house, the paint still peeling off the walls. A full length mirror glared my reflection back at me, which I quickly walked past. Spiders infested every corner, and the squeaking of rats made me shiver. That place was getting worse and worse.

Trembling, we climbed the stairs, not hearing a sound that showed Reuben was there. We checked every room, and not one showed a sign that Reuben had been there. His stuff was sprawled everywhere, as if he made a quick get away, grabbing a few vital things. In the corner, I caught a glimpse of the empty envelope, which contained the letter where Reuben told me he gave me his heart. Sensitively, I traced the scar over my chest, remebering that horrible time.

Unsuccessful, we left, standing in the front garden of Reuben's house. Dead plants were strewn everywhere, making the place look ten times worse. In silence, Damien and I just stared at each other, trying to come up with an alternative plan. Unsuccessful again, we simultaneously sighed.

"So, what should we do?" I asked, knowing that he wouldn't have an answer.

Stressed, he ran his fingers through his messy, blond hair, and let out a deep breath, "I don't know. He's probably long gone. It's best if we just wait, he'll come back, for you," he answered.

I nodded, and leant against the wall, seperating our front gardens. Exhausted, I wished I did sleep, whilst I still had the chance. Would Reuben come back? I mean, we were still boyfriend/girlfriend, no matter how much it didn't seem like it, and I more or less cheated on him. Stupidity.

An ear piercing scream made me stand bolt upright, as I scanned the road before us. Damien did the same, whilst a struggling Reuben was dragged up the road, by some random men, with that damned Angel pin. I yelped, and Damien's eyes widened in shock.

"Hey, hey what are you doing!?" Damien yelled, moving into a battle stance.

"Stay out of this, kid," one of them said, in a low American accent.

What? Were we magically in some kind of cheesy movie? Well, I was standing still in shock, Reuben was literally being hauled along the road, and Damien was preparing to fight. It seemed so surreal, but I was drawn out of my day dream, when Reuben started fighting back, too.

"Damien!" Reuben's strangled cries reached me, "Get Tori away from them!"

In an instant, I reacted. Three large men surrounded Reuben, basically trying to get him into that horrible van, again. Throwing uncoordinated punches, he fought back, and Damien watched in surprise, as it actually worked. But Damien also reacted, and grabbed my waist. With my unbroken leg, I kicked, and screamed at him to put me down. I had to get over there, and I had to help Reuben. There's no way he's make it with three of them.

"Tori, stop moving!" Damien hissed, trying to heave me away from the scene.

"No! We need to help him!" I shouted, a tear rolling down my cheek.

What was even happening? It was all so sudden, and scarily surreal. Reuben was being taken away from me, and somehow, I just knew there'd be no way to save him again. But why do they want him so bad? Why not Damien?

"Tori..." Damien calmly whispered, soothingly.

Desperately, I gave up, crying so much. Maybe if I wasn't there, Damien could help Reuben, and save him. What am I saying? It's impossible, Reuben knew we'd end up hurt, and he was giving in. But not yet, he still fought strong, elbowing his way out of there grip. At one point, he did break free, only to be grasped again.

Quickly, Damien put me down, and told me to stay put. He rushed to Reuben's aid, and began battling his way through to him. Petrified, I watched on, absolutely useless. I could do some damage with two crutches, but Damien nor Reuben would allow me to get involved. I'd just have to stand there, worthless. How were my family not hearing this? How had my neighbours not come out, to investigate? Like I said, incredibly surreal.

Crying insanely, I uselessly weeped, praying for them to be okay. What was honestly going on? How could that even happen within one minute?

Frantically, the men shoved Damien away, making him fall to the ground, blood falling from his nose. I whimpered, as he got up, swaying with dizziness. Everything may as well have happened in slow motion, that's how it appeared. Damien was kicked out of the way, as Reuben was hauled into the back of the van, against his will. Just before the doors loudly slammed shut, he mouthed 'I love you' to me.

My heart shattered, as I paralyse to the cell. My feet felt as though they were actually glued to the floor, and Damien staggered around, trying to get his bearings. All in one instant, Reuben screamed, cursed, yelled, I didn't know, and it was cut off. He was cut off by the sound of a gunshot. Just as I feared, from underneath the door of the van, one trickle of dark red blood caressed the road, in a murky puddle.

No sobs left me. No tears fell. I was paralysed. A pain in my gut caused me to gag a couple times, as I pieced together this insane puzzle. Reuben... Reuben was dead. Reuben, my Guardian Angel, he'd fallen. He'd fallen into the realm of hell, and I no longer had him.

The problem with society, was, in the end, there never is a happy ending. And mine was a tragedy.

The last chapter, dun dun dun... But no need to fear, I Know You're There - 3 is here! (Rhyming, yes!)
