I Know You're There: Abducted Angels

*Sequel to I Know You're There, read that first*. Reuben and Tori have ran away. They've got a place to stay, and their fake ID's are working. The only thing is, Tori's 'abduction' story is currently the biggest segment of the news. Yep, Reuben is the World's most wanted. Nobody knows it's Reuben, though. Not only are the police after them, but there's a sick band of people, who want Angels. Not for good reasons, some for dissection, some for information. They're both after Reuben. But of course, there's more problems then that. Ex's, (new) family and money. But they're together, and that's all that matters... right?

24. 'I kissed Damien, okay?!'

After that, I didn't sleep at all. I just couldn't. I kissed Damien. I had no idea why. It was just one of those moments, where your body acts without permission, and I ended up doing that... It was unbelievably stupid. How would I tell Reuben? Maybe I shouldn't tell him at all. No, that's even worse, the guilt would eat me alive.

Anxiously, I paced my room, with my crutches, looking quite ridiculous, but I didn't care. What have I done? What have I done? What have I done? There's literally no sane way to tell Reuben. What the hell would I say? Hey, I kissed your best friend, but it doesn't mean anything! Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Slowly, I took in deep breaths, as I paced. I was trying to calm myself down, but it wasn't really working. What I did was unbelievably stupid, and Reuben wouldn't want to see me ever again. Okay, maybe that's overreacting a bit, but he'll be hurt. Or he might not want to see me for a while.

Petrified, and buzzing with guilt, I glared my reflection down, in my full length mirror. My skin was like porcelain, and a slight pressure would cause my skin to crack, then shatter. My soft green eyes had a sheet of ice over them, surrounded my dark rings on my ceramic skin. The hair of which used to be dirty blond, had become dull, and brittle, as if it could snap under my touch. The scars on my arms had faded to a translucent white, barely visible on my pale skin. I guess what used to be half decent, was now in the minuses.

Sighing, I sat at my desk, burying my face in my hands. What I did was inexplicable, and there's so excuse for it. Breathing deeply, I tried to come up with some way to excuse myself. There was literally nothing, and plus, I wouldn't lie to Reuben about something like that. Also, him and Damien both knew I couldn't lie, without being caught, as of my terrible acting skills.

"Hey, Damien said you were sleeping," a low voice said from somewhere behind me.

Startled, I twisted around in my seat, but didn't sigh in relief when I saw it was Reuben. I simply became more panicked, and I felt my eyes become wide.

"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you," Reuben mumbled, awkwardly standing in the doorway.

"What are you doing here? My Mum could see you," I gushed, trying to get rid of him.

"She won't, it's fine," he said, narrowing his eyes at me - that meant he suspected something, "You know, Damien was kind of jumpy, a minute ago," he continued, making the guilt build up inside of me.

"Oh, really?" I replied, avoiding looking at him.

"Yeah..." he nonchalantly alleged, "I don't suppose you know anything about it?"

I felt my cheeks flush, as my eyes darted around the room, searching for a safe spot to stare at. Unfortunately, I remained unsuccessful, and had no choice, but to meet Reuben's eye contact. Frighteningly dark eyes...

"Sorry, what?" I blinked dumbly, honestly not understanding what he said.

"I said, do you know why Damien's acting like that?" he repeated, clearly not meaning it.

"Uh... No... No, I don't," I mumbled, his somewhat innocent eyes, burning into mine.

"You sure?" he asked, sitting on the end of my bed.

"Uh, yeah, I mean no, uh, I don't know," I uttered.

For a while, he just gazed at me, knowing that his pressured look would make me say. Nervously, I restlessly fiddled with a wristband on my arm, and my palms began sweating. I had to tell him...

"I kissed Damien, okay!?" I suddenly blurted out.

Reuben's eyes widened, like he was expecting something bad, but not that. His face turned a deep shade of crimson, with anger. I winced, as he rushed to his feet, but he didn't come over to me, to yell at me. He simply left. Nor did he go to yell at Damien. He literally walked out, and left us. I would have followed him, but I knocked my crutches over, which caught Ollie's attention, and it was far too late.

Two questions: where's he going; what have I done?
