Half Hearted

Mia is still living in the past. She fell in love with the perfect guy and she knew he was the one. Until she found he'd been cheating on her with Victoria Paxon, the local slut on the corner of my street. Now that Brenden broke her heart and took half of it with him, Mia's not sure if she will ever fall in love again. But one day a new boy moves in across the street. His name is Adam Madison, and he quickly falls for his new neighbor. But he knows that her past had scarred her, he just wasn't sure what happened. Adam will have to find a crack in her wall she's built to see what's inside, but he might not be too satisfied with what he finds. Half of a heart doesn't love as a whole heart does.

16. The House

Adam's POV~

After I hung up the phone I head over to the living room where Mia was sleeping. I sat on the chair and watched her sleep. She was so pretty. Her wet hair lay across her face with her mouth open slightly. She had half of the blanket wrapped around her upper body while the other half of the blanket hung down to the floor, leaving her feet bare. I laughed at how rediculous she looked but yet she was beautiful.

I just curled up in the chair I was in and slowly drifted to sleep.

Mia's POV~

I was happily dreaming on Adam's uncle's couch when I was startled awake. I had fallen off of the couch. I had also hit my side on the coffee table, giving my a bruise already. I slowly got up, my muscles weak from sleeping on something so uncomfortable. My arm had fallen asleep from the position it was in and the best part of the whole thing was I fell off. I looked at Adam, sound asleep on the chair. What time was it?

I looked at the clock. 3:14. I was so tired. I slowly laid back on the uncomfortable couch again and tried to fall asleep again but I couldn't. My arm was tingling and my side hurt from that fall.  Eventually I just got up to get a glass of water. I took a long sip and was startled by two arms wrapping around my waist.

"What are you doing up?" said a tired, fimiliar voice.

"I fell off of the couch and couldn't go back to sleep . . ." I said, setting my water down.

He laughed, swaying back and forth. "Well that's not good, is it?"

"No," I laughed. "I thought you said we were going home?"

   "Your mom called."

"Ah . . . so she said she didn't want you to be driving with me in the car and told you no funny buisness?"

"Not letting me complete one sentence the whole conversation."

I laughed. I knew my mom so well. "Well that's okay. At least I get to stay here with you."

He stopped swaying and spun me around, forcing me to look into his gorgeous eyes. We just stood there, smiling at eachother. I realized how long we'd been standing there and looked away, clearing my throat. Adam just took two fingers and placed them under my chin, turning my head towards him again.

"I think I love you," he said, then kissed me more pasionate than he'd ever dared to before. We pulled away and I stood there, holding my breath. Adam smiled at me and started to walk away before I grabbed his wrist and pulled him back with so much force, his body slammed into mine.

"I love you too . . ." I said. "I love you too . . ." Adam smiled and pulled me into his arms, kissing me.

I loved him. I really did.

Adam's POV~

I woke up in pain. I sighed and looked to my right. Mia was sleeping peacfully in my arms. I kissed her on the forehead and slowly got up, trying not to wake her up. I was unsuccessful.

"Adam?" Mia whispered, grabbing my wrist. She still had her eyes closed and a warm smile on her face.

   "I'm here," I said.

   "I feel like shit."

"Trust me, I do too." Just then, her stomach made a noise. "Hungry?"
