Half Hearted

Mia is still living in the past. She fell in love with the perfect guy and she knew he was the one. Until she found he'd been cheating on her with Victoria Paxon, the local slut on the corner of my street. Now that Brenden broke her heart and took half of it with him, Mia's not sure if she will ever fall in love again. But one day a new boy moves in across the street. His name is Adam Madison, and he quickly falls for his new neighbor. But he knows that her past had scarred her, he just wasn't sure what happened. Adam will have to find a crack in her wall she's built to see what's inside, but he might not be too satisfied with what he finds. Half of a heart doesn't love as a whole heart does.

8. The Dress

~ One Month Later ~

Adams POV~

"No, you've got to be kidding me, this?" Mia asked as she held up the dress I picked out. "No, no way."

"Come on! The blue, tootoo, bottom really brings out your eyes," I said laughing. "And the pink sparkles at the top, wow." I had to say, this was the ugliest dress I'd ever seen in my life.

"Very funny, now go put this back, this is serious."

I sighed. "Fine, but just know you won't be seeing this beauty again."

Mia just laughed and went back to searching. I walked over to where I found the dress and hung it on the rack again. Mia was looking for a dress to wear to this important convention her dad was having. Her father was owner of a real estate company and his daughter was the key to his buisness. Mia had grown up selling houses with her cute little smile and long eyelashes that rested around her gorgeous blue eyes. Being a cute little girl sold houses quickly, but now that she was older, she really had to sell it. So, she asked me to help her find a dress. I was surprised she'd asked me instead of Brenden.

"So why'd you want me to come instead of your belove Brenden?" I asked when we were driving to the mall.

"Brenden had something and I wanted him to be surprised when he sees me," Mia said, her perfect smile stretching from ear to ear. "We need to make this dress perfect.

I walked back over to where Mia was standing holding a long, elegant, light purple dress.

"Wow," I said as I stood beside her. "That's perfect."

"I know right?" she exlcaimed as she ran towards the dressing room. I just followed and sat in the chair beside the entrance. Before I knew it, Mia walked out with the biggest smile on her face. "I love it," she said as she spun in a circle, the dress twirling around her. "What do you think?"

I just stared at her, smiling as well. I slowly got up from my chair, took her hand and pulled her closer to me. "You look amazing," I whispered. She just looked into my eyes and smiled. She pulled me into a hug and sighed.

"Thank you Adam, for everything," she said as she let go. I smiled at her as she squealed and ran back into the dressing room. She was perfect. Why can't she be mine?
