Deafening Silence

One direction may may be the biggest thing in England, but they need to promote their image in America! So they board with this guy and his daughter, who may be more special then any of the guys thought.
How will she change them? And will it be for better or worse?

10. There's something in your eyes Saying c'mon c'mon

Liam's pov
Finally, we were done. As the boys chased Lele up the stairs, I lagged behind to talk to Adam. He looked up smiling. “Liam, anything I can help you with?”
"Uhh yes, what did we do exactly?"
“I compiled your voices with different parts. I just needed to see where you are most comfortable with your voices on any given song. Simon wanted to hear it freestyle, instead of rehearsed like on X Factor.”
“Oh” I replied feeling thoroughly stupid now, because it made perfect sense. “Will we be doing any more singing?”
"No," he admitted, "as I’m not a sound engineer, you will be doing that mostly in London.  I’m just a graphic designer.” He laughed but then turned more serious. “Thank you for protecting Leah this morning.”
I was amazed, “That was uh...  all Niall, not me.”
"I know he told me, but it didn't hurt that there was five boys walking her through the city.”
"Yeah...." I trailed off, walking slowly up the stairs. I was welcomed with a Twitcam appearance that Zayn, Harry and Lou were doing. I readily joined the lighthearted fun, especially after today. There was a lot of questions like “Where is Niall?”  or “Is Niall okay?” I looked at Louis. “That's a good question. Where is Niall?” Harry answered, "oh he is in his room with-”

All of a sudden, Zayn leaped toward the laptop with his thumb over the mic. He looked at us frantically, shaking his head. “No,” he hissed, “you can't just tell them who she is.” Okay so now I knew Niall was with Leah. I nodded and Zayn let the sound travel to the laptop again. Louis covered up the moment by saying, "sorry guys, Zayn's just a prat." We talked for a little longer.

Niall's pov

I lead Leah to my room and got my guitar out. She jumped on my bed as I sat on Zayn's. This was really weird, not going to lie. In my head I was freaking out. How was I to teach guitar to a deaf person? ‘No Niall,’ I thought. She is more than that and you know it.
I cleared my throat, just to prep myself. I went over to Leah and pulled her into a sitting position. She looked up at me, expectantly, and waiting.
"So,” I said, racking my brain for teaching, “This is a G chord.” Placing my fingers accordingly.
She nods and waits. For what? Oh right, the guitar. I hand it over and balance it in her lap and setting the strap on her small shoulder. I position her hand and fingers. She tries to stretch out her hand, but it just won’t reach. I lean over and hold down her fingers on the string.
“Now, pluck.” I say encouragingly. She places her thumb on the low E string and brushes downwards. For her first chord it sounds really good.
“That was excellent Lee!” I exclaim. Her face is one of joy and pride and she strums it some more. I cancel the sound and show her a D chord.
30 minutes later

“Nialler, my fingers hurt.” she says.
“Come on,” I said expecting this sooner or later. I lead her to the bathroom and put band aids on all her fingers. “Better?” I ask.
“Sure,” she says then runs out to the couch with Zayn and Harry. I guess this lesson is over. I admired Leah so much. Not once did she get mad or feel sorry for herself that she couldn’t hear it, even when I told her, no, that wasn’t the right sound. She just tried again.
