9. Chapter 8: The War Of Eighteen-Twelve

“Sure, we still have about forty-five minutes.” He said. “It all started around when I first turned seventeen, I always wanted to be a soldier and when the talk of war was around I wanted to join but I was dreadfully ill, on my deathbed, that's when my parents called Mitch to try and help me, they said to him to do anything to help me. At that time Mitch really wanted another vampire to be around and be a vegetarian with him. So he said he'd take me with him to his house to try his best to fix me up, he knew that healing me wasn't going to work to, so he changed me he went back over to my parents house and told them the horrible news that no parent wants to hear, and said that he would pay for the funeral and get me ready for it. So they let him handle everything, except for what type of flowers to put with me, what I was going to ware for it, also they picked out my coffin with Mitch. When he got back to the house I was almost fully a vampire and when I woke up a hour later I could hear his thoughts and some of the nearby farmers minds too but his was the loudest. He was thinking at the time that 'I know you can read my mind and your probably wondering why, it's because you are now a vampire, you may not believe me but I assure you that's what you are now, Collin.' I believed him fully because my throat was burning like the place no Christian should say. He also said something about me being not alive and my family believed that I was dead so I had to be in a coffin for a day or so, that way my family could feel like they said their goodbyes. And he said I was fairly calm for a newborn vampire, (newborns are a little bit psycho by running a rampage around the town drinking as much blood as they possibly can before the lunar royalty sends someone to destroy it.) he had this drug that worked on vampires that he made to calm them right down to a sleep for two days so they can have a funeral for the individual. So he gave me that drug and had my funeral after he gave me a cup of blood to calm my throat, I started to wake up to the sound of the dirt hitting the wood of my coffin, I had no air in that space but I had enough sense to stay still for awhile until he came for me, which I heard in his thoughts beforehand. Apparently the drug didn't affect my hearing or my power, so it was weird knowing everyone's thoughts at the funeral, most were sad especially my parents, and my twin sister Amber. I also found out they were going to put me in a arranged marriage when I turned eighteen to my best friend that I loved only as a friend and later I asked Mitch to turn her into a vampire, but that was after the war because she got sick with the same thing as me and I couldn't let her die she was apart of our clan for a while, remember when I told you about the annual fight well when we went in she went all psycho and someone killed my best friend which still pains me to say her name but for purpose of the story her name was Annabella.” He stopped there and sobbed a little but no tears came out. “It's five minutes before the bell we should bring our instruments back.”   “I agree, sorry for your loss I can feel how you felt about her, she was just a friend and you loved her just like I like Katelyn, as a best friend, if I lost her I would be devastated.” I said hugging him and I kissed his nose.   “You don't know how much that means to me, that you would think of her as a friend even though you never met her.”   “Any friend of yours, is a friend of mine.”   Again he carries my instrument again (I don't know why, I'm perfectly fine carrying it, this is my fifth year playing it, and I have been carting it around all this time.) back to the classroom. He's probably trying to get me to realize how good my life could be if we were married. Truthfully I want him so much, I want to marry him but I don't want to be the girl that marries right out of high school, it would make it look like I got pregnant with him and we were trying to look better by getting married. Everyone would think that of me and wonder when I'm in my wedding dress if I'm pregnant.   "You know, I might ware a promise ring but nothing more yet."   “You would?!” He asked in an excited tone.   “Yes, that's about it though, for now.”    “It doesn't matter, that still means yes you'd like to marry me, even if it's not right away.” He said equally happy as before.   “Ok, fine I guess that is what means. I want to marry you it's just that I don't want anyone to pass false judgment on us, if we do get married, maybe about us not being responsible adults or they could think I am pregnant and then that would not be good.”   “It shouldn't matter what other people think as long as we're together, the only judgements that should matter is ours.”    “That's true I guess, but we still have to wait until after I graduate, then my parents will most likely accept my choice. You still have to impress them when I take you over tomorrow.”   “So you're going to introduce me as your boyfriend tomorrow?”   "Yes." I thought as we walked through the door.   “Thanks Ms.Cleff, we'll have the song ready for the show in two months time.” Collin said.   “You're very welcome, Collin.”   We walk into English and there's a supply teacher, so it's just the review of last class. Collin and I end up passing notes back and forth.       So what do you want to do until eleven, Collin?       Practice our song with my family then you can hear what it sounds like all together. Trust me it would sound better than what I played on the piano.       Sounds fun. You can also tell me the rest of your story if you don't finish it at lunch.      Don't worry, I think I will finish the story by the end of the day.      Cool, maybe you can get this supply teacher to let us go early.     Ok I will do my best.     Collin raised his hand. The teacher nods towards him to say go ahead. “We already did this lesson last class, did Ms. Giles leave anything else for us, or was that it.”   “That was the only thing she left so I guess there's no real reasons for you guys to stay.” He said without expression on his face and in a semi-robotic tone.   Everyone got up and left in a hurry after that, like they didn't want to be called back into class, but we took our time because we knew what was going on. Collin used him power to make him let us go and most likely put today's lesson in their heads so if Ms.Giles asks about today we know. So we got an extra long lunch hour.    “So, are you going to tell me the rest of you story?” I asked as soon as we were out of the classroom.   “Yes I am, do you want to sit near our lockers?”   “Wait near our lockers? So you got your locker now?”   “Yes it's a few lockers down from your's.”    “Cool, but sure lets eat lunch by our lockers.” I love saying that 'Our lockers.' it has a certain ring to it.   We walk down stairs arm in arm and sit right in front of my locker and he said “I'll be right back, I'm going to get you some food and tell my family were I'll be.”   “Hurry back.” I said with a kiss on his nose.   He leaves and I have to wait about five minutes before he came back, it was the longest five minutes of my life.   “I'm back, did you miss me?” Collin said with a smile.    “What kind of a question is that, of course I missed you. What took you so long?”    “The line up in the cafeteria, every were else I flinted.”   “Oh, that line is always really long. So are you going to tell me more of your story?”   “Only if you eat while I talk.”   “Fine. If you insist.”   “Ok, so I was just talking about Annabella, and the war. So the war wasn't to gain more land for either the States or Canada, it was still for territory but not to own but to hunt on. See around the Great Lakes there were a whole bunch of people (in fact there still a lot of people here.), so all the vampires wanted it. (Of course I didn't want it, I just wanted to join the army.) So in the fight it was vampire versus vampire and most died trying to protect what they thought was their's. Sir Isaac Brock was the leader of the British side and he was the first to get killed, the over achieving fool, he walked right into the enemy's fort by himself and about ten vampires ripped him apart and burned the pieces to make sure that he wouldn't come back. His sire took charge and organized the attacks better to gain some ground. It ended up being the same as it was before. They were trying to kill our food they shot my sister in the chest a sure slow death shot so they could drink her blood later and this was right in front of me, I ran to her side and she said 'Collin? Am I dead too.' I couldn't let her die so I bit her. Her blood was the first human blood I'd tasted it took me a lot of mental power not to kill her but I managed. After that I quit the war and stayed by her side until she was fully changed then took her to Mitch. He wondered how I managed to change her without killing her, but I didn't even know myself. We left after that and moved to the Artic to get use to eating like a vegetarian using leopard seals and penguins to drink. That was when they were overpopulated and could actually afford to loose a couple hundred of them. Mitch pulled me aside one day and thought 'Collin do you want to tell her that she has a power? Her power is, no one who she doesn't want near her she can stop them it's like a giant sheild.' Of course I wanted to be the one who told her so I said 'That would be great. I'll go tell her now.' He thought back quite quickly 'Be careful of what you say she is a new born vampire, she's just getting used to being a vampire.'. I took Amber aside and told her about what she was now, her power, how I was only pretending to be dead to our family and how she would have to do the same, but I said it just like Mitch told me of who I was, oh I also told her about Mitch. That's all I really have to say about the war of eighteen-twelve.” He looked at my face and immediately said “I'm so sorry you look so stunned and scared.”   “No, don't worry about me, I'm just use to the other version of the war of eighteen-twelve not the way you told it. In the history books Isaac Brock got shot and fell off a cliff, he didn't go on a suicide mission into an enemy fort.”   “He did, but that doesn't kill vampires, not many things do. He was hunting a human who had a gun and he shot him and the impact made him stumble, he was at edge of the cliff so he fell. That's how that story got into the history books. When he hit the bottom of the cliff he let people take him away to bury him in his temple that still exists today. After about a day he tunneled under the walls so he wouldn't ruin his monument then covered the hole. Then he went into the enemy's fort and got killed.”   “Oh, that makes sense.”   “Good.”   “Well it's almost time for class, ready to go?”   “Yes, I'm ready to go to chemistry and present our project.” Collin said.   “Oh ya our project, what do I get to do for that?”   “You can tell the class what I'm pouring in.”    “Ok.”
