Back For You

They say friendship lasts forever. Louis Tomlinson and Lillian Brie thought that this statement was completely true. But when one "yes" from Simon Cowell changes their fate together they need to find their way back together. After years of solitude, Louis comes back to Doncaster for a visit. Just as he promised. Because when two people are meant to be, they will always find their way back.

1. Day 0 - Welcome Home

I stood at the airport holding a sign that read "Boo Bear." The one and only Louis Tomlinson from the famous band One Direction was coming back to his home town and I was over the moon! Louis and I had somewhat of a complicated history. We used to be best friends. But that was a little while ago. Our mothers were, are, best friends and introduced Louis and I to each other when we were just six. For years after that we were the very best of friends. I thought that it was a brilliant idea for him to audition for X-factor. He is a brilliant singer and he deserves every bit of his fame but I miss him. We haven't spoken for two years now and I miss him like crazy. But I'm getting a bit ahead of myself here, my name is Lily Brie. I am currently 19 years old and I'm majoring in English. And I miss Louis like crazy and I can't wait for him to come back.

That's when I saw Louis come through the gates. I dropped my sign to the floor and ran towards him screaming. I leaped up into the air wrapping my legs around his waist enveloping him in the biggest hug ever. At first he was in shock but as it finally registered in his mind who I was he hugged me back.

"I missed you so much Boo Bear!" I squealed into his neck,

"I missed you too Lily Bud!" he whispered into mine, "Where's my mum?"

"Johanna is at home cooking you a perfect dinner!" I exclaimed jumping off of him, as I looked into his eyes he raised one of his eyebrows.

"Carrot Soup?" he questioned,

"Of course!" I responded "What else?"

"Lets go then!" he said grabbing my hand pulling both me and his luggage towards the airport doors. It wasn't until then when I realised how much I missed him. But not just him but all of him, his voice, his touch, his smile, I missed all of it. Could I? No. Louis and I had been friends forever and he had a girlfriend and I had a boyfriend.

"Excited to be back home?" I asked as we both slid into a cab,

"Over the moon!" he responded "The boys and I have just finished our tour and we've been given a month off."

"So that gives us what? 30 days to catch up?" I questioned,

"Yep, not nearly enough right?" he joked

"Not nearly enough!" I said in between my laughter, "So, hows Eleanor? I heard you guys were dating. You know, through the twittersphere."

He looked down the floor now, the atmosphere in the air immediately changed.

"She-She's good." he mumbled, "Are you..."

He took a long pause but I knew what he was about to ask.

"Yes, I am dating someone. His name is Derek, a real lad. He's in my classes."

"I didn't..." he began

"Finish your sentence?" I said finishing his sentence for him, he flashed a smile and something inside of me just melted.

"I guess you still know me better than everyone Lil." he answered.

The ride back home was really awkward and we rode a majority of it in silence. That gave me alot of time to think, memories came flooding back to me piece by piece. The first one that came back to me was when we played Hide and Seek, our favourite game. We were only eight then, that was a blissful time.

"Lil!" Louis screamed, "Where are you?"

"I'm over heeerree Lou Lou!" I giggled popping out from behind a rock, "You're so bad at this!"

"Equally as bad as you Lily Bud!" he responded flicking his hair back.

"Well I'm giving you 20 seconds Boo Bear! You better start running!" That was when I closed my eyes and slowly counted down from twenty. When I reached one I felt a heavy weight on my back and fell down the hill screaming.

"Louisssss!" I screamed pushing him off of me. At first I was very mad but then I started to laugh.

"You found me Lily Bud." he whispered rolling over next to me.

"Nah, you found me Boo Bear."

I looked over to Louis and he quickly turned his head. He must have been staring at me, this made me smile. Thinking back on how good friends we were I realised something. Why did we grow apart?

"Louis?" I asked crossing my legs,

"Yes love?" he responded turning around.

"Why haven't we talked for two years?" I mumbled,

"Well, I've been busy with work and you've been busy with... whatever you're doing." he answered,

"See Louis! Thats the thing! You don't even know what I'm doing at the moment."

"You're probably doing Derek..." he mumbled

"Excuse me?' I screamed, that comment was uncalled for.

"Nothing." he spat, I then realised how close we were to each other. In our rage we had turned to each other and were now so close that our faces were touching. I could've just leaned forward and kissed him, in that moment right there but instead I turned away returning my gaze to the floor.

"English." I mumbled "I'm currently studying for my degree in English. Just so you know."

"English?" he questioned "Brilliant, you always loved to write. Good to know you're taking it seriously."

"Well you're alot further in your career than I'll ever be."

"Don't believe that for a second Lil's. You're brilliant."

This brought a crimson red blush to my cheek. Thankfully the car stopped and before he could see the blush on my cheeks I ran out of the cab into the house.

LOUIS POV

It was really nice to be back home. Honestly, I had been wanting to come back home for quite awhile. Mostly to see Lily Bud again, she was my best friend. The last time we came back home was for Home Visits back in my X-Factor days. Lily Bud didn't show for that concert, or any of my other concerts for that matter. The cab ride was very awkward. I was really looking forward to quality catch up time but judging by our conversation in the car we wouldn't be getting much of that. She practically ran out of the cab but I swear that I could see a slight bit of blush on her cheeks. I paid the cab driver feeling very thankful that he didn't recognize me. I stepped out of the car running into my house. But as I opened the door I was greeted by large clumps of confetti and streamers flying everywhere.

"Welcome home Louis!" countless people screamed. I put on a smile but as I looked at all the familiar faces I wondered where Lily Bud ran off too. But then 5 girls ran up to me giving me a giant hug.

"Lottie! Georgia! Fizzy! Phoebe! Daisy! How are you?"

"Fantastic!" they all said at the same time.

I then picked up Phoebe and Daisy kissing them on the cheeks.

"You guys have grown so big!" I cooed.

"Well all of us girls won't be here for very long." Lottie said, "We're all going back to boarding school tomorrow."

"Well, its great to be back home."

The party lasted for quite awhile. It finally started dying down some time round midnight. Thats when I decided to head upstairs for a little rest. Just as I was about to open my door I heard a girl laughing and I recognized it instantly. Lily Bud.

"Haha," she said laughing "Yeah sure. Tomorrow? I don't know. Aw shut up D."

D? She must have been talking with Derek the entire time. For some reason this made me very angry. I pressed my ear against the door listening intently.

"Why? Well you see Louis is back in town... Yes, its that one."

That made me happy. That she would choose me over him.

"Aw, I'll miss you too. Ok, bye. Ditto."

"Ditto?" I asked opening the door.

"You little snoop." she said walking over to me.

"Well you are in my room..." I began

"Our room." she said cutting me off effectively by placing her finger on top of my lips.

Our room. That sounded about right.

LILY POV

What did I just do? Shut him up with my finger? Ugh. This is a very strange situation. I couldn't help but smile at the smirk on his face.

"What?" I said with a slight cheekiness to my voice, he really did bring out the best in me.

"Our rooooooom" he said extending the 'O' in room.

"Just like old times huh?"

It was the summer of 2007 and Louis had just finished unpacking. Our parents had taken all of us on a family vacation to a beach house. Due to lack of money we could only have so many rooms. My sister and Louis' sisters shared a room. Our mums shared a room (my parents divorced when I was 3, I hadn't heard from my Dad since then) and because of this Louis and I shared a room. I was overjoyed at the prospect of this since he was my best friend. I remember getting complaints from the hotel staff for being 'too messy' and I remember getting complaints from our Mums. Apparently we were too grumpy during the day from lack of sleep. Thats because we spent all night talking. I felt comfortable talking to Louis about anything and everything and thankfully, he felt the same about me. So naturally, we had alot to talk about. We spent alot of time together that summer. Playing on the beach, swimming in the waves, rolling around in the sand. It was a fantastic moment that I thought would last forever.

"Yeah." he said "Just like old times."

Thats when he walked closer to me. As we looked into each others eyes he pulled me in for a hug.

"I'm sorry Lil" he whispered into my hair.

"For what?" I asked attempting to look up at him. But his head was at the back of my head keeping it against his chest.

"Not keeping in contact with you. We really were best friends."

I took a deep breath in. I caught a whiff of his cologne which sent shivers down my spine. I closed my eyes and responded to him slowly.

"We still are best friends Lou," I whispered "No matter what happens."

"I'm happy to hear that," he said as he let go of my head and smashed his lips against mine. He kissed me passionately keeping his hand behind my head. I gripped onto his hair tangling my hands it. That was when I came back to reality finally realizing what I was doing.

"No!" I said pulling away, "You have Eleanor and I have Derek. We can't do this."

He had a stunned look on his face. I realized that he regretted what he did.

"I-I-I-I'm sorry..." he stuttered

"Welcome Home Louis..." I said running out of the room with tears streaming down my face.
