3. Chapter Three

Chapter 3

Niall’s POV

I looked out at the VIP's from backstage, searching for an eighteen year old girl with long, straight red hair, blue eyes, pale skin, a tiny star tattoo on her collarbone, and with a shamrock necklace on. There were four red headed girls toward the front. I skimmed over three of them before my eyes stopped on the fourth. She was sitting in the front row with an overly excited blonde next to her. I couldn't see her eyes, since she was looking down and also had on a black snapback, but I hoped this girl was Abby. The other red heads didn't match her personality; they just looked like the usual fangirls, and one looked about twelve, so I knew that definitely wasn't her. Also, not to sound shallow, but this girl in the front row was gorgeous. Her ginger hair cascaded over her shoulders and chest from beneath the snapback, shimmering beneath the lights. I thought it was cool that she was wearing a snapback with a hoodie and everything. I liked the black Supras she was wearing (she had her feet up on the barrier so I could tell), and the skinny jeans and One Direction tank top she was wearing showed off how extremely fit she was, without making her look like a slut. The girl was looking at her phone, her chin bent down so there was a shadow covering where the shamrock necklace and tattoo would be. I couldn’t see much of her face beneath the hat, but if that was Abby, I knew that there was so much more to her than just being extremely beautiful.

“Hey, erm, lookin’ at the girls?” Harry came up behind me, startling me.

“Yep.” I answered, not taking my eyes off of the red haired girl. She had wavy hair though. Abby said she had straight hair…

“Is that the one you’ve been talking to?” my slow-talking band mate nodded toward her.

“Hopefully. I think it is though.” I continued studying her.

“She’s got huge boobs.” Harry said, joining me in my observing. I almost choked on the water I was drinking.

“Harry!” I gave him a look.

“It’s true though…” he grinned cheekily.

“Well yeah, but you didn’t have to say it like that!” I chastised. We continued to stare, not being creepy at all.

“What d’ya think they are, like 38D’s?” The curly haired boy continued.

“Harry!” I punched him lightly in the arm.

“Boys! Time to go on!” Paul broke up our staring. We walked onstage, hearing the screams and girly squealing we’d all somehow become used to over the past two years. I stood closest to the girl, who looked up towards us. She had gorgeous blue eyes. I waited, hoping to hear her call out. My heart skipped a beat when she cupped her hands over her mouth to yell.

It seemed almost like slow motion. I turned my full attention to her as I barely head her yell what we’d agreed on over the dull roar of the other VIP’s.

“SUP PRICK!?” I grinned at her, doing a subtle wave. She returned the smile, and turned to calm down her blonde haired friend, who had started jumping. The blonde must be her friend Anna she’d told me about; they were like sisters. I mouthed “Look at your phone” to Abby, and she did. I’d sent another direct message to her right before we went on. I could tell she’d gotten it when she smiled down at the screen. The ginger looked up at me again, making my breathing hitch in my throat. She nodded, her blue eyes sparkling. I mentally danced around. Abby had agreed to stay after when the concert was finished later tonight. I was really excited. I wondered briefly why I was so happy to have a girl stay after with me and the boys, it’s not like we’d never asked anyone to stay before. Whatever. I tuned back in to what was happening around me onstage. Thankfully, I’d decided to pay attention at the right time, since the other boys were interacting with the audience and I was just standing there, not saying anything. I joined in, and before we began to sing a song for the crowd, Liam walked over to me and leaned over to my ear.

“What’s up with you mate? The last five minutes you’ve being looking like you’re in love.” He said.

“Nothing, shut up Liam.” I made a silly face at him, and we continued on with sound check.

Sound check went as planned, interacting with the audience, singing, blah blah blah. My eyes were often on Abby but when I managed to pry them away from that smile of hers, her face took over my thoughts. I looked over at Josh and saw that he was looking at Abby’s friend Anna a lot. I looked the blonde girl over, but my attention was almost immediately captured by Abby once again. This time she noticed my staring and started giggling. I could feel my cheeks heat up and stayed at the other side of the stage until sound check was done so that I could fully concentrate.

Abby’s POV

Seeing Niall and the boys was giving me heart palpitations, especially since Anna and I were going to hang out with them after the show. I couldn’t believe they were on the last show of their first North American tour! We sat outside the arena before the actual concert began, as I had gotten hungry and wanted some food. Anna talked to me as I ate.

“I saw the way he was looking at you, Abby. He likes youuuuuu!!!” she squealed.

“I suddenly feel like we’re back in school again. And he only was looking because we never met before, which is normal, and there was also a really pretty green eyed brunette behind us.” I answered with my mouth full. That’s right, I had manners.

“Abby. One, you’re gorgeous. Two, you’re the coolest person, like ever, and it shows. Three, I doubt Niall even noticed the brunette at all, because he was staring at you, because he likes you and invited you backstage after the show! Freak the freak out!!!” she had started bouncing again. I think there were hydraulics shoved up her butt or something.

“You’re coming too, y’know.” I shoved the last of my hero into my face, and was now disappointed. Why did it have to go so soon? Come back delicious sandwich!

“You’re lucky you have such a high metabolism.” Anna said as I grabbed the bag of chips that came with the hero.

“I know, it’s fuckin’ awesome!” I really needed to get a handle on my cursing. I started in on the chips, and we both laughed at my lack of manners. Okay, I was in front of my friend, and I will eat as I please. It’s not like I’m ripping raw meat off the bone with my bare hands and then devouring it in front of like Eminem or Drake or Bruno Mars or something. I finished off the chips mercilessly, and Anna and I went back inside to our seats and waited for the concert to start.

Olly Murs, who I was also a big fan of, did a phenomenal job as the boys’ opening act, and the boys did incredibly as well. They’d planned some special stuff for the Garden show, and the concert was, not to sound cliché, but it was freaking magical. I can honestly say it was the most fun I’d had in a while, or ever. Anna hung back as the audience left, waiting for someone to come and get us like Niall said to. I saw Paul coming over, and Anna and I stood up.

“Hi Paul! How are you?” I greeted him excitedly.

“Brilliant, thank you. Abby and Anna?” he asked, smiling.

“Yep!” I answered. He led us backstage and down a long hallway. Anna was gripping my arm so tightly from excitement of nervousness that I could feel the bruises forming. We came to a door at the end of the corridor and halted.

“Everyone’s in here,” Paul said, his hand on the doorknob. “And behave; you know what they’re like.” He smiled again and opened up the door. He such a nice man. Anna and I looked at each other, took deep breaths, and went in.

Author’s Note: Okay, school just started and I’ve been really swamped, so bear with me. I’ll update as much as is humanly possible on weekdays. Also, yes, I am fully aware that the boys did not end their US Up All Night tour with as show at the Barclays Arena in NYC. The character lives in New York, so I figured why not. Also, for those of you who don't know, sub sandwiches are called heros in New York. Thanks for reading, and please vote and comment an!d stuff
