20. Take My Heart Into Consideration - Last Chapter.

Nobody's P.O.V

She watched as he trailed behind her, like a lost puppy.

"Zayn, don't look at me like that." Truth was, he wasn't even looking at her, he was staring at the concrete pavement, his head hanging like he'd been scolded. Red felt a lump rise in her throat. She couldn't do this.

Zayn wondered what he had done wrong, if he had done something to make her mad, to make her leave him.

"Sorry." he muttered.

Red couldn't take it any more, he didn't even do anything wrong. Her stomach squirmed and she felt like throwing up. So she did the only thing which she thought would make the feeling go away - she kissed him. The ache settled, and his arms found their way around her waist, pulling her to him. Caught up in their own world, they never heard the footsteps aproaching them.

"Red?" She broke off from the kiss, turning to see her cell mate standing on the cold platform, his blue eyes troubled. Guilt overwhelmed her.

"Kayleb, I'm sorry, I can't go with you. I need Zayn."

"I need her." Zayn hooked an arm around her waist and hugged her close, over-protective all of a sudden. There was no way he was letting her go. Not again.

"I don't believe this. I honestly don't believe this." Kayleb shook his head before taking a few steps back, turning round and jumping onto a train which sped past. Red watched, torn, as his black tousled hair whipped about and dissapeared from sight. Right then, she knew she lost a friend. And it was two days till Christmas.

"I'm sorry." Zayn nuzzled his nose into the crown of her hair and she looped her arms around his torso.

"It doesn't matter. I have you." Red thought about it for a second, and realised something: She'd be okay, always. Because Zayn was there.

"Come on, let's go home." They turned away into the dark tunnell, trying hard just to focus on eachother.

Kammy grinned broadly, despite her exhaustion. Yes, through the last week she'd watched Red go from happy, to broken, to locked behind bars, but it didn't matter. They were still friends. When she saw bright red hair and a black quiff stumble through the door, she quickly embraced Red in a hug. When was the last time she slept? Two nights ago? All she remembered was napping next to Louis on the couch for a few hours. It seemed so long ago.

"You're back! I thought it'd just be Malik returning to us!" She squealed happily. Red was always puzzled by this girls enthusiasm for everything, but she'd learned to live with it. Even at 3:30am.

"Well, we had a little negotiation." Red stole a glance at her boyfriends face, then turned back to Kammy.

"Yeah, she finally took my heart into consideration."

Just as Louis came up behind Kammy and kissed her neck, Zayn swooped in on Red and gave her a long, lingering kiss.

"Mmnm, tasty as always." Red grinned as she pulled back. Everything was almost perfect.

It was late at night, maybe 4 in the morning, maybe 5. Red was staring up at the ceiling, at a paticular crack which had spidered across to the top of the wall. She'd have to get that fixed.

"Baby?" A deep husky voice spoke up beside her. She turned in her bed in the darkness and clasped Zayn's hand.

"Can't sleep." she murmered, snuggling into his bare toned chest. She stroked his soft carmel skin and kissed a tattoo he had on his collar bone. She'd never really paid attention to his few tattoos, often hidden beneath clothes. She couldn't say anything, really - she had as many slag tags herself. Her favourite was probably a heart on the left side of her stomach with a four-leaf clover inside it. Her mum was Irish - it was all she had to remind herself she even used to have a mum.

"Wan't me to get you anything?" Red knew he was just trying to be polite, he looked so tired, there was no way he'd get up even if she paid him.

"No, I'm fine. Just go back to sleep."

"Alright, night." he kissed her lightly before falling onto his pillow. Before actually falling asleep, he turned to her.

"By the way,"

"I love you." He grinned a beautiful grin, before conking out on the bed.

Red smiled, but the smile dissappeared when her thoughts veered towards Kayden; She'd left him, all alone. Out in the world, with nobody. And yet she couldn't find herself feeling at all guilty.

I'm not heartless, she thought, I've just got my head screwed on straight.
