14. Ch. 14- Your Eyes Look Hungry Again

I waited in the lounge area patiently for One Direction to finish performing so Louis and I could have that talk. While I was pacing the lounge, everyone else was watching the show side-stage. Honestly, I’m extremely nervous. What as it he wanted to talk about anyway? The only thing that would come to mind that he could be talking about was the kiss. Nothing else has happened between us. And even if it was something else, why was he being so secretive around Liam?

‘THAT’S WHAT MAKES YOU BEAUTIFUL!” The loud screams became even louder, signaling the boys had finished the encore and walked off stage. Funny, I thought they were done singing UAN songs, but let’s face it, WMYB is a staple of their career so it’s not going anywhere.

I felt a warm hand on my shoulder and I turned around to face the person that had interrupted me from my thoughts.

“Why are you pacing, love? Are you nervous?” A sweaty Louis stood in front of me, a smirk playing on his lips. He looked really good, even though he was covered in sweat. He was wearing a navy blue button-up shirt and khaki rolled up chinos that I had quickly put together earlier. Oh, I’m goooood.

“Are we going to talk right now?” I asked, not answering his question.

“That was the plan, wasn’t it?” He winked.

I nodded and waited for him to continue but he didn’t. He just stood there looking at me.

“Where’s everybody else?” I asked breaking the, what I felt was awkward, silence.

“The lads are in the showers.” Again I waited for him to continue and tell me where Paul, or Ms. Novak were, ANYTHING really. But again, there was nothing but awkward silence. So I just mumbled an, “Oh..”

“SO,” Louis clasped his hands together. “Why don’t you take a seat, Kayla?”

I did as I was told.

“Am I in trouble?” I asked sincerely.

He let out a soft chuckle as he took a seat next to me on the small couch that could barely fit three people.

“No, love. You’re not in trouble. I just needed to talk to you.”

So much talk about a talk, and there’s none of it going on…

“About?” I asked.

“You know,” He said.

“The kiss?” I asked, hoping that’s what he wanted to talk about.

Louis nodded.

“What about it?” I pressed, feeling like this was a one-sided conversation.

“Well, just so we’re clear..it’s behind us right? There are no weird feelings between us? I mean, it was a while ago anyway..”

I felt as if my heart had suddenly dropped into the pit of my stomach.

“Uh..” I faked a smile to the best of my ability. What was he expecting me to say? “Of course, it’s not like it meant anything to me anyways.”

“Right, it was just something we were forced into.” Louis added.

I felt a lump grow in my throat. “Right..” I pursed my lips then added, “It’s not like I enjoyed it anyways.” I laughed, and it sounded really fake…because it was.

Louis shot me a quick glance. “It wasn’t?”

If I didn’t know any better I would’ve known this made Louis upset.

“I mean, it wasn’t the worst kiss I’ve had in my life, but it’s not up there, you know?”

His shoulders drooped and his head hung low, but his smile didn’t falter. He was visibly upset, but I bet he thought I didn’t notice.

“I didn’t think it was that bad.”

Louis shrugged.

“Honestly, I’ve forgotten how it even felt so…”

“You’ve forgotten?” Louis asked. He looked at me and I nodded. I shifted in my seat so I could face him.

“Would you like me to remind you?”

I raised a brow. WHAT? WHAAAT?

He turned so he was facing me now and we were face to face. I sat there frozen, not moving the slightest bit.

“Re-remind me?” I repeated the question.

He nodded his head, confirming that the question I’d heard was correct and not all in my head.

“Uh..s-sure.” How I managed to even answer, I don’t know.

Louis’ face inched closer to mine and I could feel my heart beating faster and faster. I closed my eyes and soon enough his soft lips were on mine. I couldn’t really register it was actually happening so Louis was the one doing the kissing. When I managed to get a grip on what was happening, I had to fight the urge to take control and I let Louis be the dominant one. One of his arms snaked around my waist, and he rested his free hand on my cheek, caressing my cheek with his thumb as he kissed me softly. I kissed him back just as softly. Suddenly, to my dismay, our lips parted and Louis darted to the couch opposite of us and took his cellphone out of his pocket.

I was dumbfounded because he didn’t say anything, did he not like the kiss? Right as I was about to ask why he had stopped, three bodies came in through the door. He must’ve heard their voices as they came down the hallway.

“There you are!” Harry exclaimed to Louis. “We thought someone had kidnapped you, we were so worried!”

“He thought that.” Zayn countered. “The rest of us didn’t care.”

Louis gasped, throwing a not-so-soft pillow in the direction of Zayn’s face. “RUDE.”

“Aren’t ye gonna shower, Lou?” Niall asked.

“Yeah.” Louis stood up. “I was just waiting for an empty shower.”

“Mate, there’s five showers…” Niall countered suspiciously.

“See ya later!” Louis darted out of lounge, leaving Niall, Zayn, Harry, and I.

Harry and Zayn decided to make a Kaya sandwich and I was uncomfortably squished between them. Niall sat on the other couch.

“Where’s Liam?” I asked, before they could ask what Louis had been doing here.

“He’s talkin’ to his mum on the phone.” Niall answered. “I’m hungry, who wants ta go look for food with me?” He asked, standing up.

Harry stood up as well and I scooted to where he was sitting so I didn’t have to be near Zayn. “I’ll go.” He said.

Both Niall and Harry left on a venture to find food. And then there were two…

Since Zayn was sat on the same couch as me, I decided to sit on the couch Niall had been sitting on before he and Harry left. Right as I stood up to move, Zayn let out I laugh.

I looked at him and glared. “What’s so funny?” I snarled.

“You.”

I sat down and gave him the finger which caused him to laugh even harder.

“Why do you hate me?” He asked.

“Why do you like to harass me?” I retorted.

“You’re feisty.” He smirked.

“And you’re a dick.”

He laughed again, making me more irritated.

“Why don’t you just leave me alone?!”

“Because,” He said, standing up. “You’re impossible.”

I shot him a look and he continued.

“You need to know one thing love, when I want something I get it.”

“What’re you trying to get at, Malik?”

“Isn’t it obvious?”

Yes, I thought to myself.

“No,” I lied, even though he’s made it pretty obvious in the past what it is that he wants.

He chuckled and leaned over me. I sat back, trying to keep the distance but my back was now pressed against the couch as he came closer to me and I was pretty much cornered. His proximity allowed me to take in his scent…it was so..so…intoxicating. If he didn’t annoy the hell out of me, it’s safe to say I would be very turned on at this very moment.

“I want you.” His voice had deepened.

I looked into his honey-colored eyes and was instantly mesmerized. I broke out of the trance I was in and pushed him off of me.

“Get the hell away from me.” I spat.

I stood up and the door opened once more, this time revealing Liam and Louis.

“Ready to go?” Liam asked us, unaware of the incident that had just taken place literally a couple seconds ago.

“Yeah, I’ve just gotta get something I left in the boudoir.” I said.

He nodded. “Zayn?”

“Yeh.” Zayn answered.

“We’ll be waiting in the van, c’mon Louis. Let’s go, Zayn.”

Liam and Louis parted and before Zayn could join them, Zayn whisered in my ear, “I always get what I want, love.”

Author's Note: Hey guys! So you might have noticed the title in this chapter contains something other than a number. The reason is because I was listening to "Tangled In The Great Escape" by Pierce The Veil while I was writing the ending of this chapter and I found it fitting to Zayn's part!
