20. The chase for Panda

Katrina's POV

As soon I as released my hold on Panda, the bloody dog decided that he wanted to run off! This is definitely not one of my good days.

Zayn chased after the black and white dog, but the energetic pitbull was too fast. They both ran out into the hallway leading up to the front door.

Oh shit. Please, please let the door be locked, I prayed silently in my head. I stumbled after Zayn and ran to the door.

Much to my bad luck, the freakkin' door was open!

Are you fucking kidding me?!

And I was just in time to see Panda racing out the door and out into the front yard. This dog better not get into the road, or else..... I don't even want to think about it.

"Panda!" I yelled out, trying to get the wild dog's attention. He started rolling in the grass and a second later he hopped onto another patch of grass. Suddenly, I remembered an important rule about a loosed dog: never chase after the dog. The dog will then think it's a game and would keep on running. If you act like you don't care, the dog will get tired and just come back to you, or would just lay down and rest.

"Zayn, Harry," I said quietly to the two boys standing by the door breathing heavily. "Act like you don't care and try to not chase him. He'll think it's a game. Wait til he's relaxed, then I'll sneak up and catch him."

They both nodded their heads and turned their gazes away from Panda. Panda started to slow down, and he kept glancing over to us. I started to survey the road, checking to see if there was any cars coming or going. I didn't want Panda to run off again, especially since it's getting dark.

Soon, the puppy was lying in the grass, on his belly, with his eyes clothes. I'm guessing he was enjoying the summer breeze in the quiet neighborhood. The neighborhood I found him was quite noisy and busy with cars zooming by. The poor dog probably never experienced silence before.

Slowly, I started to take small baby steps to Panda. I didn't want to startle him before I was even 5 feet near him. Soon I was by the dog, and when I was about to reach for his collar, a car horn started making noise out of nowhere and Panda was up and running again.

"Are you fucking kidding me?!" I screamed out in exasperation. So close yet so far.

Panda was now running down the sidewalk, heading towards the end of the street near the intersection with stop signs. I caught my breath, hoping Panda was smart enough to avoid the cars.

"Harry, grab his leash. Zayn, run inside and see if you can find anything that's edible for Panda." I continued to watch Panda for a second and then starting to jog after him. I didn't want to full out run, just in case I needed my energy later to chase him and I didn't want this to seem like a game of tag to the puppy.

"Why the fuck does this have to happen now?" I mumbled under my breath and then started swearing mercilessly. If somebody heard me right now, they would probably want to wash my mouth out with soap and bleach and duct tape my mouth.

I have to admit, I'm pissed off right now. Why did Panda all of a sudden started to believe he was being chased by the boogey man? He was quiet and harmless when I left him with Harry. This just proves to me that looks can be deceiving and never to judge a book by it's cover. Or in Panda's case, don't judge a dog by it's breed, or possibly fur. I don't know, I just don't know right now.

I heard Harry and Zayn running behind me, gaining distance. Panda was getting closer and closer to the intersection. I can already hear the cars turning and the roars of engines as the cars accelerate.

I groaned out in frustration and stopped running. As sweetly as I could, I started calling out Panda's name. Zayn and Harry caught to me and we were all walking side by side.

"Got the leash and food?" I asked, keeping my eyes on Panda. He started to slow down a bit when he saw we weren't running anymore.

"Yeah." They both answered simultaneously.

"Good. We seriously need to catch this dog now because it's getting late. I'm not going to allow him to run off into the night," I said, determination set sternly on my face.

"I know. And it's going to get a bit chilly and there's alot of cars in the side of the neighborhood." Harry stated. I glanced around, surprised that we were now a couple streets away from Harry's flat. It's just amazing how time flashes by when you are chasing after a super energetic dog (please note the sarcasm in my voice).

"Jaz and Riley must be pissed that I'm late," I muttered absent mindly. I'm about 2 hours late. Their shifts ended around 4 PM.

"They won't be as mad when you explain what happened," Harry said, overhearing my muttering. I looked up at his shiny green eyes. His chocolate colored curly hair was flopping into his eyesight. I watched as he flipped his hair out his face and combed the hair with his fingers to the side. Gosh, he doesn't know how attractive he looks when he did that.

I shook my head slightly to get out my trance. I looked over at Zayn and noticed his hard look on his face. He was probably worried about Panda like me.

I looked back ahead and saw that Panda started lounging in someone's yard. I cursed and made my pace go faster.

"Panda...." I said softly and trailed off when I noticed the owner of the house coming out the front door. He looked like one of those buff, scary dudes that you only see in movies. But right now, this wasn't no movie.

The man was glaring at us when he noticed Panda getting ready to pounce on a butterfly. Great, now I have a dog that believes it's a cat that can pounce.

"Hey! Get your dog off my property!"

Oh fuck. We're screwed.

A/N: Forgive me if I'm writing too little. I have alot of other things on my mind and I keep getting distracted. And I have to admit, I just love to write about this dog! Anyways, here's another part. And yes, another cliffhangar, which I am very sorry for but I just had to leave off with it.

Happy reading!
